La Quinta Inn Charleston North

I stayed at the laquinta riverview this past weekend and while the furnishings in the room were very nice that was the only good thing about this hotel. My reservations were completely messed up. We requested a room with fridge and micro and were told that because we booked so far in advance it would be done.. after spending 150 dollars at the grocery store we were told that somehow they didn't have a fridge or micro to put in any of our rooms ( we had several) we asked for a marina view and were told at check in that we had it but in reality all we had a view of was a sloped roof. many of the breakfast items were unavailable,, during our entire stay!!!!

"Ugh" about sums it up. Despite the fact that I prepaid for two nights via Hotwire, I ended up switching hotels for night 2. The bed linens were stained and disgusting, the bathroom was unclean and the vacuuming left much to be desired

This was my first experience at a La Quinta. I've heard that other hotels in the chain are nicer, but this place is a dump. Hotwire gave it a 2.5 star rating, which is supposed to be equivalent to a Holiday Inn Express or AmeriSuites. Motel 6 is more like it.

Please keep in mind I am a HUGE fan of La Quinta hotels and would easily give the one in myrtle beach 5 stars....however this one is a dump.
The blankets had yellow stains on them. There was a somewhat reddish stain towards the ceiling, too scared to look up close at that one. The toilet needed to be replaced, fixtures in the bathroom were rusty. We felt as if we needed a hepatits shot when we were in the bathroom. The icemakers outside were dirty. We heard 5 police cars/fire trucks in the middle of the night. Kind of a "scary" location at night. We left a day early b/c we didn't want to sleep another night in their bed. RUN, don't walk, far away from here!

Stayed for one night, had booked for more but was really dissapointed at how worn things were. First room had a terrible musty, moldy smell. We changed to another room which was better but small. Pool umbrellas were torn up, glass in parking lot. Staff was nice and decent breakfast but rooms need to be updated! Worst La Quinta I have ever stayed in. Have always liked the other ones.....Would not recommend! Also farther from Historic Charleston than we thought .

If you're just looking for a room for the night, this is the place. It's inexpensive and abut 15 minutes to the historic district. I was looking for price and this was just right. It's right off the highway and I thougt it was going to be noisy, but it wasn't. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fine (continental). Room was clean. No complaints and I would stay here again

We recently stayed at the La Quinta in Charleston, South Carolina off the I-26 and Ashley Phosphate Road. My general review is okay but has some significant problems.

1. Our sheets did not fit the bed. The fitted sheet was so small it basically covered the top of the mattress but continuously popped off each corner if either of us turned over or moved in the bed in any which way.
2. The pillows are pancake flat. They have no fluffyness to them at all.
3. Less important but worth mentioning so hopefully La Quinta will read this and consider upgrading their towels - their towels are rough, not soft at all

Finally, beware that this La Quinta claims non-smoking rooms but our first room had definitely been a smoking room. We asked to be moved and were to a better smelling room.

And my last comment is for La Quinta - get rid of the bed spreads. Everyone knows they are never washed. Go to a comforter coverlet that can be easily changed with every guest so we know we aren't sleeping with someone else's hair and other unmentionable, grotesque things on those comforters!

Very nice hotel, especially for the price. Room was clean and reasonably-sized. Only complaint would be the small amount of counter space in the bathroom area. Very quiet given hotel was full and rooms are off an exterior corridor. Exceptionally agreeable staff. Hotel less than 10 minutes from the airport, in commercial neighborhood with plenty of fast-food chains and mall nearby. Easy to hit Ashley River Road plantations, Cypress Gardens and downtown Charleston (20 minutes).
