“Amazing food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

I had one of the specials of the night, pecan encrusted Grouper. It was wonderful, as was the service and the prices were reasonable for what it was.
I loved the building/ decor as well.

“Really good food and service in small town Newberry”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2012

We had dinner last night at Steven W's Downtown Bistro and really enjoyed it. Service was friendly and prompt without being too fussy or hovering. Definitely try the pecan encrusted wild salmon served on a sweet chili sauce - you'll not be disappointed.
Make sure you leave room for their signature dessert as well. It's a almond basket filled with icecream , drizzled with chocolate an homemade caramel sauces and is worth every calorie.
Dinner with before dinner drinks, entree and dessert came to less than $100. I've paid much more for much lesser quality many many times.
The restaurant is located in a very spacious and airy building right on the main street. Don't miss it!

“Gave Up!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2012

Greeted immediately by friendly waitperson, shown to table and promptly had drink order taken. Waitress returned quickly with drinks. No menu offered yet. After getting my own menu from station near door (waitress saw me as she was behind bar), and waiting several....long....minutes, waitress returned to tell us of evening specials. Left again to allow us to ponder a while longer. My husband left more than enough money on the table to cover his one cocktail and my glass of water, and we walked out. This was a Wednesday night with several large parties dining. I understand any restaurant staff being a little overwhelmed at times, but being ignored in a place this upscale and pricey is not acceptable. The worst part was the extreme noise level. Nice old building with period tile floors, stuccoed walls, and high tin ceiling made for good acoustics, but the tension from waiting for service made it unbearable. I was really looking forward to the monk fish. Maybe I'll give it another try when I'm not worn out from traveling all day. And I may bring a good book, some earplugs and order a bottle of wine while I wait. Really disappointed that I didn't get to enjoy one of the most recommended places in such a charming town.

“good food and good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2012

The food was excellent quality, but the ala carte menu was a bit pricey. The high ceilings give it a nice ambience.
