My wife and I visited the Opera House a few weeks ago during the offseason. We went on a Saturday trip to Newberry and this was the highlight of our day. We got a tour (free, but you can leave a donation before you leave) of the entire building and got to see the dressing rooms, green room, under the stage, etc, areas that the general public is prohibited from seeing during the season. It's a very special facility with a lot of history and is definitely worth a tour. We were so impressed with it that we decided that we are going to take in a show this fall as soon as possible. The tour takes about an hour (less if you don't ask questions, but we did). Enjoy!

Newberry is a small southern city that is home to a Opera House built in 1880 and renovated in the 1990's. the original building is on the National Historic Registry. The people who work there are extremely gracious and willing to give a tour of the facility. If you go, make sure you see the autograph wall in the green room.

We attend events at NOH on a regular basis. All seats are comfortable and there are no bad views in the house. Local volunteers usher and assist and are quite friendly and helpful.

Only two "other" comments: handicapped parking spots could be better situated and prices are
a bit high only because of the small house size. (Almost every time we go it's a sellout)

A final kudo: the restoration of this historical facility is authentic and beautiful.

My family and I were staying at the Hampton Inn right across the Newberry Opera House which is a really cozy hotel with very comfortable beds. Any way, I walked across the street with my kid to go explore and went in. A really nice lady approached me and toured us around the Opera House and I was amazed that Tony Randall and Clint Black performed there and they signed a wall which was entirely covered with signatures with the people who performed there. This place was built in 1881 and is like taking a step back into days where things were much simpler.

What a wonderful place to attend live performances. The theatre is not too small and cozy and very comfortable - we have sat in several locations throughout the theatre - never a bad seat. Every performance we have attended have been excellent. The performers bring to the stage great entertainment with their wonderful personalities. Each time we drive from Greenville to see a show it becomes a special adventure. Most of the time we dine at Steven W's either before or after the show! Great Memories!
