“Unique lunch spot”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Due to heavy traffic on I-26 from Charleston to Greenville, my husband and I decided to stop for lunch off the beaten path and found the Flying Pie in Newberry. What a great little restaurant with whimsical decor and a very diverse menu of pizza, panini, apps, salads, pasta and entrees. The most unique item on the menu was the cream of dill pickle soup, which was delicious, if you are a pickle fan. We each had a panini -- both were good -- and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stop back again.

“Nice atmosphere and good food!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

I love the eclectic mix of furnishings and decor. The menu has some unique choices, adding a twist to many standard sandwiches, salads and pizza. I had a veggie wrap the pasta side, which includes cashews. Both were good. We followed up with the butter pecan gelato and it was a nice finish to the meal.

“Meh.”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

In my opinion, the flying pie, like other locally-owned restaurants in this area, have a menu that's too big when they're only good at a few things. One or two of the pizzas here are worth the high price, but many of the entrees and sandwiches are not worth it. I forget the name of it but there's a chicken and pasta dish that is OK but for the price I could get like 6 or 7 michelina's frozen dishes that taste just as good. There's a few burgers that are interesting and taste pretty good. If you want to make money and serve more customers (which is what every restaurant wants, right?) I'd suggest you focus your menu a little more and just make a few things that are really good, rather than a ton of things that aren't very good and a few things that could be better. The Flying Pie, Roma's, the Palms and a few other local restaurants all have huge menus and most of the things on those menus are not worth getting at a restaurant. Don't be afraid to specialize!!

“Good hometown pizza”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

A very nice and friendly Italian (pizza) establishment. The food was very good, the service was also very good and the wait time for food was reasonable. Our server was attentive and responsive to our needs.

“Don't eat here if service and cleanliness is important”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Food was good but took 10 minutes for the person who seated us to get our drink order. We had to ask the server anytime we wanted something including ordering our meal. There were flies and the table the person tried to sit us at had a fly on the table. Would never eat here again.
