We stayed on Sun. and paid (w/tax) $112. We had top floor and it was great. We stayed at 3 total hotels this time and it was by far the best. I'd love to go back there next year.

Overall we had a good stay @ The Reef. For our family of 4 we got a great deal online esp for it to be the middle of busy season @ the beach. This is our 3rd time staying here and its close to everything and the rooms are very spacious and of course we were on the beachside too! We will continue to stay here if the price is good. Our only complaint was that the kitchen in our room had roaches. Hope we didnt bring any home with us. lol Pool side bar is great and they had karoke for all ages poolside during the days and it was very entertaining!!!

We arrived with a eight day stay planned, the room was very dirty and had a funny smell....we had a 2 bedroom suite, one of the bedroom we could not even open the door all the way without hitting the full size bed....very small. Food crumbs in the corner and trash on the ground. We tried to make due until the ROACHES came out, NO it was not a Palmetto Bug which by the way is another name for AMERICAN ROACH. The staff was very unfriendly and rude..we caught bug in bag and took it to front desk, they were still very mean....only lifesaver is I booked through yahoo travel and they refunded me my money and we went elsewhere.....I have never stayed in such filth...Need customer service training and some new cleaning people....The elevator are also the slowest I have ever ridden on.....pass on this hotel it is not a resort it is a slum.

We stayed in room 610. It had 2 separate private bedrooms, a bathroom and the living room with a sofa bed. The sofa bed was terrible, needs new mattress.
The room had a dishwasher, microwave, small stove, toaster, coffee pot, 2 TVs, and they supplied the dishwashing liquid for sink and dishwasher. Everything was nice and clean when we checked in. The balcony was a really nice size, much bigger than Holiday Sands North. There was plenty of parking in well lit areas, very friendly and helpful staff, right on the beach, nice big, clean pools, two 6 person hottubs and two big laundry rooms. The elevators were an issue. We walked the stairs more than we caught the elevator because it took so long and it kept getting stuck. The location was too far from the shops on the Grand Strand but it was more peaceful at night. Me and my family would stay here again.

We had stayed at The Reef before and had enjoyed our stay so when we decided to vacation in Myrtle Beach, we just called there to get reservations without really looking anywhere else. That was a mistake. I didn't look at any reviews of the hotel until a couple of days before we left--that was another mistake. I had hoped they were wrong.

When we checked in, the room that we had been booked in was not the room that we thought we were getting and they said they didn't have any of those rooms available. They did let us see another room they had but it wouldn't work for us. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and one of the bedrooms was so small the door wouldn't even open all the way without hitting the bed which was against the wall. The other bedroom was larger than the other but it was still very small. The fold out couch was horrible to sleep on and when you rolled it out, there wasn't enough room between the bed and the kitchen table to even walk so you had to climb over the bed to get to the other side. The door handle on the sliding glass door kept falling off but to their credit, the maid did notice it and had maintenance come and repair it. The heat pump leaked a nasty cola colored liquid through the ceiling over the tile kitchen floor which made the floor slippery so we had to keep a towel on the kitchen floor the last day we were there.

I will have to say, though, the fire alarms worked wonderfully because there was a fire in the restaurant connected to the hotel on the first night we stayed there so we were awakened about 12:30 am by the fire alarms had to take the stairs to the parking lot in our PJ's.

The furniture looks like beat up yard sale furniture and needs replacing as does the carpet and the bathroom.

I will have to say, though, the pool was well maintained. There was a man that stayed by the pool all day sweeping and cleaning the pool. If the hotel paid that much attention to their rooms, it would be a great place.

This, however, is not a "family hotel" in my opinion. There is an outside bar in the restaurant (that caught on fire) that is just above the pool and there are waitresses taking orders for drinks, etc. and drinking around the pool. I knew there was a bar in the restaurant but had no idea there would be drinking around the pool and around my children. We had a great view from our room of some people getting drunk and putting on a show by the pool. What entertainment!

You really should take your running shoes with you because more than likely your going to be running up and down a whole lot of stairs unless you want to waste a whole lot of time waiting on elevators.

It's a real shame they have let this hotel run down so much. The check-in desk staff seemed really nice. The lobby was nice but look out when you open the door to your room!

My husband and I were very disappointed in this hotel. We stayed here many years ago and this was a very nice place to stay. Not what we expected at all!! The elevators were so slow, my husband has a heart condition so walking the stairs was not an option. Rooms were not very clean, very outdated rooms. Our bed was broken in the middle, they did give us a temporay fix!! Either this hotel needs to be updated or demolished. Also, there were added charges on our bill that we were not told about in advance. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

When we came into our room I thought, this is nice until I opened the cabinets, one word NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the sliverware was never washed, food was stuck to it. The glasses and plates were no better. I took them to management, He asked if I wanted VIP cleaning I said for what you know have all the tableware. When we got there one of the elevatores was not working, but that was fixed fairly quick. One set of elevators for all of the Reef, be perpaired to wait alot......kitchen outdated and rusty, bottom of tub stained.
