Great value overall. I found out about this place through a Groupon offer. When I booked the room, the staff recommended the Palmetto building and put us in one of the rooms with a balcony and view of the beach, which made all the difference. If you're looking for a quieter Myrtle Beach experience, I would recommend this hotel because it's not right in the middle of the hotel/restaurant/tourist trap stretch of boardwalk, meaning you can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet on what feels like a slab of beach reserved exclusively for Springmaid Resort. Amenities include a mini golf course, multiple pools, a restaurant onsite ($10 all you can eat breakfast), and access to a fisherman's pier with another little bar/restaurant that serves up cheap fried flounder sandwiches, burgers, and daily drink deals. If you want to be in the middle of the action, you may want to book something further north on Ocean Blvd, although it's only a 10 minute drive to the main drag, anyway. For a family vacation or a quiet getaway that won't break the bank, I would absolutely recommend the Springmaid.

We are a family of 5, mom and dad with three young children all under the age of 7. We booked a one room however upon arriving at Check-In, were surprised to find out we were upgraded to a 2 room suite at the Live Oak. For us, where we stay anywhere AWAY from home really paints the picture and atmosphere as to how much we enjoy our trip away from home and Springmaid really did it for us! This is definitely a family friendly place to stay! We stayed 9-16 thru 9-20 and although there were hardly ANY children except for many seniors, we still enjoyed the stay very much. Let's start first with the CONS.
CONS:
With the remodels of the 2 rooms, the doors to the rooms would NOT close because the kitchen floors probably were now higher up, so for couples, there was no real privacy. You could tell there were a few things here and there in the kitchen that were dirty however, for us, it was NOT a big deal because we would clean anything before we used them anyways. The towels were "eh", not top quality ... thin and did the job but who cares, you are there for a vacation. Besides, maid service everyday ALWAYS got us new and clean towels and there were PLENTY of towels for us to use for that day until the next day when maid service came. I do also wish that for a 2 room suite with 3 queen beds, there was only but a small table with 2 chairs to sit in. I thought it awkward to have a kitchenette where obviously it is meant to have guests eat "IN" however, not enough seating. Yes, air conditioner was extremely loud but, when you have so much fun and get back tired, we slept like babies. Again, we just made the best of it and it did not hinder our enjoyment of the place.

PROS: We loved the room we were in. Our room's view was the Pier and the Beach! We loved our Live Oak ROOM! I would definitely say that Live Oak was the BEST building to be in. Also, in our 2 room suite, I loved that each room had their own bathroom sink. There was but only one hair dryer on the wall in the 1st room which I didn't mind walking into to have to use. There were PLENTY of towels, washcloths, soap and oh, how I LOVED the pump, dispensing shower gel, shampoo and conditioner! That was ingenius! For a family of 5, that was PERFECT! I loved that the kitchen really had everything you needed to cook away from home. Two clean top burners, coffee maker (which needed cleaning but again, I was prepared so I did not mind cleaning it) with 4 single use cups and 4 coffee bags, 5 forks, 5 spoons, PLENTY of plates, bowls, cups, coffee mugs, cheap cookware, spatula etc .... I'd say, all you need to bring IF you plan on cooking is a sponge, paper towels, dish detergent, all purpose cleaner and you are SET! Don't have to worry about bringing anything else! There were plenty of things to do at Springmaid! Although this time of year, the arcade on site is ONLY open Friday thru Sunday and we did not get to use it during our stay, we DID do GOLF, Live Oak Pools along with go to the Palmetto pools that were more fun for kids and totally enjoy the beach that was but a super short walk away! Every morning of our stay when the maids came in to clean, they did an awesome job! One day after getting back from the beach, we got a lot of sand in the bathroom and after maidservice that day, they did an awesome job changing all our towels and sweeping up and vacuuming up our room! We were VERY impressed!

So, all in all, we would definitely stay here again! The small things were not big enough of a deterrent for us! I read in earlier reviews about the hotel's policy to allow check in only at 4pm at earliest, and no earlier so we got there at the hotel at 4:45pm and had NO issues checking in! We LOVED the service here along with the cleaning staff who were so pleasant and courteous.

Although we enjoyed Barnacles at the Pier, we were glad we only got fried foods because the gentlemen who served up taco salad to other guests, we saw he never washed his hands after handling money and the register and then simply touching the cheese to put over top the salad. Ours was friend so we did not see him handle it in that way. The onion rings and wings were delish, but they definitely need to work on cleanliness.

Room Tip: Go with the LIVE OAK building! ASk to book a 2 room suite even at your lower rate. We were in room L...

At least once a year, we take a trip to Myrtle for a short vacation/ long weekend. This was our first time staying at the SpringMaid Resort. We had a wonderful time! We booked our stay through the Pirate's Voyage webpage and received a substantial discount in doing so. I really thought that since we were receiving such a good price, we would have a horrible room and lousy service. I could not be more wrong. Check-in took less than 10 minute. Our second day there, we enjoyed the beach and the pools - there was no need to even leave the property! Admission to the pier was included (wristband needed), so we walked the pier a couple of times. We even took our children for their first game of mini-golf (a very simple course) thanks to a coupon provided to us at check-in. The breakfast buffet, while a little pricey for breakfast (especially for our young ones), was out of this world! I can hardly wait to book a longer stay next year!

After reading multiple recent positive reviews about this property I was excited about choosing this resort for a weekend get away. I was excited about the extensive remodel of the property along with the cost effective rates. Upon arriving at the resort about 45 minutes before check in (315) We waited in line about thirty minutes to be helped. We had one person in line in front of us and two people being helped at the counter. After checking in, we were informed that our room was not yet ready and we needed to call back to the front desk in about thirty minutes to see if our room was ready. We finally got into our room, in the Palmetto, around 430. In my opinion, the best part of this resort is the amount of beach access your have. Located between the Pier and National Park, you have an amazing amount of beach. You can walk almost a mile uninterrupted before you arrive at the next Pier to the south, where there is a public beach. On this stretch of beach you never feel crowded. As for the resort/room, I was far less impressed. The elevator up to the room was lacking in cleanliness which was a bad first impression. Upon entering our room, the first stop was the bathroom. Upon entering the bathroom we were taken back by the strong odor of cigarette smoke, which we were in a non-smoking room. The room had a good decor, along with nice looking furniture. We had an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean from our private balcony. On the down side; the shower was not in proper working order with the stream being weak because the lever on the faucet would not pull all the way up, the sink, mirror, hair dryer are located on the outside of the bathroom in the main room which was just and odd design and the AC unit was extremely loud when it turned on. I also felt the staff who was in charge of getting the rooms ready were not at their best. Multiple times we saw staff on their cell phones while changing out rooms. We noticed that our fitted sheet on the bed was upside down and the mattress pad was bunched up, no ice was found in the freezer (which there is a magnet on the freezer stating the staff starts a fresh tray of ice for all of the new arriving guests) and lastly waking up the next morning getting ready to brew coffee, we found that there was old coffee still in the pot from the previous guests. It may seem like little things but they were off putting to me, making me feel that we as new arriving guests to the room were not tops on the priority list. The only place we ate at on the resort was at Barnacles. Looking at the pictures on the website we felt like this would be a great little place to go grab a bite to eat or even have a few cocktails while overlooking the ocean. We at there for lunch on the very first day and were disappointed. The food was sub par and was nothing we would recommend. The pictures on the website only show the bar making it look very nice. When we walked in, the restaurant only would hold about 30 people and the seating and tables looked like an old cafeteria. Unless you are in a rush to grab a quick bite to eat, I would pass on BARnalces and find another restaurant off the Beach or King St. To sum up my experience I would say what made my trip great was the amount of beach front you had access to with little to no crowd. I thought the resort was over priced for the condition and cleanliness of the room.

I recently stayed at this resort for a conference with my church. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean as well as the grounds outside of the hotel. It was nice having a pier right at the resort to go fishing. The pool area was nice and kept very neat and clean. The resort has a cafeteria/restaurant and I only ate breakfast there one morning. The food was very good, but it was a bit pricey.

I would definitely recommend staying at this resort. It is at the "quiet" end of Ocean Blvd so you don't have to worry so much about hearing traffic and loud music. It seemed to be a very family-friendly resort. I am sure I will stay here again in the future.

Everything was great. No bugs no dirt. The staff was very friendly. Love the location (away from the main crowd but minutes away if you want that. Breakfast was wonderful. Select a breakfast package on their website and you save 20% off a seven day stay. They have a wonderful gift shop on the pier as well as a bar/short order which was really great food. At the front desk at check-in they will give you coupons for the short order, ice cream shoppe, and gift shop all on the pier. You see the ocean in all of the buildings but watching the sunrise in the Live Oaks building is limited. If you want to watch the sunrise request the Palmetto Dunes Building Its a little further away from the pier and Marlins but the pool is better there.
