Although we were upgraded in room size, we got a blocked view of the beach. Yes, we could look straight ahead or left to see the ocean, but looking to the right we only saw a concrete tower. The kitchen faucet dripped and certainly was one of the cheapest fixtures one could purchase. The owner also chose a cheap shower head in the master bath. I needed a medical reference and called the front desk only to get no help at all. They said they would check the Internet and call me back. Never did. If you prefer to move your own luggage you will have to do it without the aid of a cart. The carts are only available to hotel employees who naturally charge to move your luggage. The only staff that was friendly were the housekeepers. Overall, it was disappointing to say the least. We have been going to Myrtle Beach for over 20 years and this was the worst stay we ever encountered.

Thank you for your review. Recently in October, a guest was upgraded to our oceanfront 2-bedroom grand king suite, and although this room on the end of the building does have a partial block of the view to the south, it has such a spectacular view looking out and to the north that we usually receive no complaints. This suite is over 1200 square feet, and features a 172 square foot ocean-facing balcony, seating for 10 at the dining table, polished granite countertops, full size washer & dryers… the oceanfront king master bedroom overlooks the ocean with both picture window and glass sliding doors that access the balcony directly from the bedroom, and the bathroom features granite fixtures, corner glass shower, and a Jacuzzi garden tub. This is one of our most sought after suites. We do respond to maintenance requests immediately, but my search of that file did not reveal a request for a leaking kitchen faucet… we keep those on file to be sure of who responded, how quickly they responded, and to be sure that the issue was resolved, whatever it might have been. If a guest has any sort if issue, we encourage them to let us know… our goal is always to respond immediately.

A medical reference is a serious request, and our staff always asks if an ambulance is necessary and always immediately gives directions to our local hospital, which is just minutes away. We do try to help with every guest’s request, even one as sensitive as a medical referral. Our staff is sometimes very busy at the front desk, but can always find a way to help… in this case we apologize that they didn’t get back to you right away. Without a need for emergency assistance, we cannot be of much more service than to recommend the local pharmacies and “doctor’s care” satellite offices.

Our bell service is provided by the Island Vista for the comfort and convenience of our guests. Our bellman is happy to assist anyone who requests his help, and he does not charge our guests for this help. Often, he might receive a gratuity for the quick friendly service he provides, but it is in no way a requirement. Guest service is our top priority at the Island Vista.

Thank you for mentioning our housekeeping staff… it is always nice to share positive comments with those who work so hard to keep our standards high. Thank you again for choosing the Island Vista, and we hope to see you again soon.

Best place I've ever stayed! A++++++ service. My favorite is Sam in the Cyprus Room. He's awesome!!! The rooms are absolutely huge! I had a 2 bedroom 3 bathroom with hot tub for the price of a plan room in Tennessee

We stayed here on a family vacation earlier this month. The room was spacious and clean, and we were happy to have the washer/dryer combo. I liked the layout of the room, with the balcony giving a great view from the living area.

The pools are great; I loved the lazy river, which has waterfalls and nice lighting. And the beach seems almost private, because there aren't many high rises in the area.

We didn't eat at the Cypress Room. Honestly, it seemed a little over priced and we just weren't feeling it this trip.

The only problem with this hotel is the parking garage. I know garages are needed in the area, but the spaces are itty bitty. It requires skill and a small car. I can't imagine parking an SUV in there. Yikes.

It's like Walmart pretending to be Sax 5th Avenue. The room was nice, spacious and comfortable. Stay away form the front desk and the restaurant. They have bell service which is nice but that is the only way to get a luggage cart.

Thank you for your review. Actually, this is my very first time seeing our resort compared directly to WalMart (or Sax 5th Avenue), and I’m not sure how to respond. We are located at 60th Avenue North in an old and very exclusive residential neighborhood, and we are the only resort property here. While many of our guests might agree that this is not an area often associated with WalMart, we do frequently hear kind comments about the quiet convenient location, our uncrowded stretch of sandy beachfront, and our daily dedication to high standards of quality.

Again, it would be best to have more distinct points to consider, but I would still like to address your reference to our front desk and our Cypress Room restaurant. . The family here cares about the property, the guests, and the employees… it’s especially nice to see in these days and times. We insist on friendly greetings and quick assistance for our guests, and our employees seem to be genuinely happy to be a part of the Island Vista tradition of hospitality. Prior to the relatively new building, the original property was called The Sea Island Inn, and in the older days, the restaurant required jacket and tie for gentlemen during dinner hours. While we have relaxed the dress code a bit, we have kept the high standards of service and cuisine in place… we have trophies (such as the Iron Chef 1st place from the 2010 competition in Myrtle Beach) all around the dining room, and our Chef Mike McKinnon has been the subject of very positive reviews in many high-profile culinary arts publications.

We provide bell service to our guests at no charge, and we prefer to make this service available for our guests’ comfort and convenience. Unused luggage carts in the hallways or randomly placed in our parking decks detract from the quality that we try to project, but can also be dangerous if left unattended… a loose luggage cart can cause a pretty bad ding in a car’s finish. But it’s more because of the service… our bellman is an employee of the Island Vista and as such, he does not charge a fee although many guests choose to offer a gratuity based on his quick friendly attention to their needs.

We are happy to see that your accommodation was satisfactory, and thank you for saying so. Thank you again for choosing the Island Vista as your host in Myrtle Beach, and we hope to see you again soon.

We always have a wonderful vacation at Island Vista. We have been there for the last eight years but this year we had a four bedroom condo. It was great! Every department has wonderful people that remember our family and will work to make sure we have the best vacation possible. It is in a residential area and is not as crowded on the beach. It has a wonderful restaurant. We love breakfast with a view. It is the best because of the employees and wonderful customer service. That includes front desk, bellman, housekeeping. maintenance, waiters, and management. We will be back in November.

Room Tip: We love the corner suites and high floors.

My wife and I stayed at Island Vista October 6-9. We had a wonderful time overall! We stayed in a Oceanfront 1 Bedroom Grand Jacuzzi Suite with 1 King Bed.

Our check-in process could have been better. Check-in was at 4:00pm but our room was not completely ready until well past 5:00pm. We went to our room at about 4:30 and stayed in the bedroom while the cleaners finished cleaning the rest of the suite.

Another minor hiccup in our stay was at breakfast in the Cypress room one morning. In our second cup of coffee, my wife and I both found lots of solid pieces of film floating around in the coffee. It was probably coffee built up in the coffee pot. They got us another cup when we asked and there was not a problem again. This wasn't a big problem but it shouldn't happen at a nice place like the Cypress Room.

We loved our suite!! The living room and kitchen were very spacious and clean with nice furniture. The bedroom was great except for the 20 inch box TV. I expected a better TV, though the one in the living room was good. The bathroom was great with a large shower and jacuzzi tub. We spent a lot of time in the tub.

The beach was nice and the property was surrounded by privately owned homes and cottages so the beach wasn't crowded. It made for a relaxing atmosphere.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our mini honeymoon at the Island Vista and would recommend to a friend and would go back!
