The Island Vista Resort is the # 1 hotel in Myrtle Beach in my opinion. Myrtle Beach has been my family's vacation destination since the mid 1950's. We have stayed at a lot of the hotels in the area, but now Island Vista is our hotel of choice! The location is perfect and it's located in a residential area, so it is not congested. It's quiet and a great place to relax. And to top it off, it has a wonderful restaurant with excellent food! The hotel staff and restaurant staff are very friendly and accommodating. The indoor pool is awesome! I wish I could own one of the condos there!!! I have recommended this hotel to other family and friends and would highly recommend the Island Vista to anyone! Check it out, I feel sure it will become your family's hotel of choice!

We researched several places before booking at Island Vista Resort, and we were very happy with our choice! We chose the larger room with two bedrooms for our family of four. We ended up with an ocean view in the penthouse and loved it. An added bonus was a washer and dryer right in our room. The kids loved the indoor pools. The only complaint was that the outdoor pools were not very warm. Other than that, it was great and the staff was tremendous!

Here for four days at a conference. Suite on 7th floor overlooking ocean was a bargain.

Our conference fee came with a food package. While the food quality was very good, and the dining room service was attentive, the kitchen seemed to be continually overwhelmed and took way too long to get out breakfasts. The one formal dinner went better because they could stage the meal.

The bar was another story. Too little room at the bar, and way understaffed. Took an age to get service. One of our colleagues was simply ignored and walked out. Indications in both the kitchen and bar of weak planning and management.

Thank you for your review… we do have beautiful views of the Atlantic here at the Island Vista, and we appreciate your kind comments and especially appreciate the high marks you gave our resort in general.

We did note your similar comments regarding our Cypress Room restaurant and responded to those on Trip Advisor’s Cypress Room page. A quote from that reply: “Occasionally, an unanticipated or short-notice event can coincide with another well-planned event on the same date, and this can lead to some delay… we try to plan details well in advance, but we have been a very popular dining establishment for years, and these things can happen. Fine cuisine and customer service are always our top priorities in the Cypress Room, and our restaurant manager has years of experience in the effort to achieve those goals. If you encountered an evening as busy as that, we must apologize for any delay you experienced.

We hope you will consider visiting us again in the Cypress Room. We will consider that an opportunity to provide you with a better experience, and we look forward to seeing you.”

Again, we thank you.

We visited this hotel because our usual hotel was booked for the week we chose. We were not disapointed!!! This is a great resort! We had an oceanfront room with two queens, very clean and excellent room service. Pools were great and warm. The locations was fantastic as it was in a quiet residental area but only a minute from most of the action. The parking was tight for large vehicles but could be managed. We would definately reccomend this resort!

My family of five stayed here the first time we came to myrtle beach. I was overwhelmed by the amount of hotels and condos there are. But finding the right one was hard. The condo we rented was amazing. We got the one bedroom suite with the ocean view. The rooms don't seam like a hotel but much more like a apartment. We had a separate bedroom and living room. With 3 kids we didn't feel cramped up. the beds are very comfortable and clean. Rooms are bright and you can't get enough if the ocean view. The kitchen had most of everything you can need from pots to plates and cups. The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to please you. My boys loved the indoor pool, the outdoor pools looked nice also but it was chili to go into. Your right on the beach which makes it amazing, they have an outdoor bar and a restaurant, drinks can be pricey and the food was ok. This is the perfect hotel if you want to get away and relax. Your about 2 miles from the boardwalk, there is a big difference between both places. Its really calm and quite and will mostly find families at this hotel. Once you go down towards the boardwalk you will see more people and bigger crowds. So its really up to you, my family can't wait to return.

This hotel was a real let down, and we were shocked that Frommers (which we usually find reliable) gave it 2 out of 3 stars. The beds were uncomfortable, everything was really dated, the lobby was musty and cramped, and the corner "ocean view" rooms had a terrible setup. The way these corner rooms are set up is as follows: They're on the end of the hall. There is one outer door leading to a vestibule from which you access the doors to three or four separate rooms. The doors are all very heavy and LOUD upon being shut. So, if you don't know the people in the other two/three rooms and they happen to be big partiers, you will be bothered day and night by the extremely loud banging shut of both the outer door and the inner doors, as we were. Unless you want to try to tell drunk people you don't know to be quiet.

Room Tip: Don't get a corner/"ocean view" room. The views are nice BUT the way these corner room...

Thank you for your recent review. I must say, the commentary about the Island Vista by Frommer’s on their travel site certainly was a glowing review. Frommer’s even mentioned the beautiful cypress wood throughout the lobby… many guests have commented about the warmth offered by that craftsmanship, our exclusive floral arrangements, and even our fireplace.

This year, we have replaced our furnishings with select upgrades… all of our bedding is new for 2013, as well as our sofas, occasional chairs, and coffee tables. The room type you selected is made available as a guest room for those who do not need full kitchen facilities, washer-dryers, dishwashers, etc. or who prefer the economy of a smaller accommodation. Perhaps a one-bedroom suite might have been a better choice of accommodation for you.

One of the top reasons for the popularity of the Island Vista is our quiet location in an exclusive residential neighborhood. Our goal is the quiet enjoyment of our facilities by all of our guests… our staff (including dedicated security) is here 24 hours a day to assist with any request. If a guest informs our staff of any sort of problem, the appropriate department always responds immediately, whether it is a light bulb that needs to be replaced or a noise complaint at 4am. Our managers are here to assure the very best vacation experience we can offer.

For those travelers who are not familiar with our variety of accommodations, our friendly and knowledgeable vacation planners are right here at the Island Vista, and will be happy to help you choose the room or suite type best suited to your needs. We hope you will consider choosing the Island Vista again for a future visit, and we look forward to the opportunity of providing you with a better experience at that time.

Thank you.
