“Best Last-Minute Getaway”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

After a very fulfilling and exhausting nine weeks of school, my daughters and I needed a break. I contacted my sister (a frequent traveller) who recommended Island Vista. Although I searched online for the webpage, she suggested I try calling and that I might get a better deal. I am glad I listened. When I called and told what I wanted, the representative provided an even better special. The accommodations were neat, clean, and beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. To say the least, we relaxed, ate, relaxed some more; and had a wonderful time. Thanks Island Vista for truly wanting our business.

We have stayed in a number of accommodations in Myrtle Beach over the past several years, but our stay at the Island Vista Resort was our most enjoyable and best stay ever. Our reservations were originally for an Oceanfront 1 Bedroom Grand Jacuzzi Suite with 1 King Bed. However, we ended up receiving an Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Suite, and although there was only the two of us, we definitely enjoyed the spaciousness of our accommodations. Whatsmore, upon check-in, we were given a $35 gift card towards a delicious dinner at their in-house restaurant, The Cypress Room.

There was ample space to store both our luggage and our clothing, between both their generous sized closets and all of the drawer space in the chests in each of the bedrooms. The kitchen was well stocked in that it had plenty of dishware, glassware, silverware, and an appropriate amount of pots and pans with which to prepare a meal. We also made good use of the full-sized washer and dryer that was in our suite.

We also enjoyed sitting in their outdoor area, especially under their shaded Veranda, where we could sit on their wonderful rocking chairs and enjoy the view of their uncrowded beach. It was the perfect place to enjoy both a drink and a good book.

We loved the location of the Island Vista Resort in that it was located in a more residential community, so it was tucked away from all of the usual activity on Ocean Boulevard, which made for a very quiet and peaceful stay. However, we felt that it was still conveniently located and only a stone's throw away to all of the hot spots in Myrtle Beach.

All of the public areas of the resort, as well as our accommodations, were immaculate. Whatsmore, all of the staff members that we encountered, from the front desk to housekeeping, were very friendly and cordial. The only person who we encountered who could have taken a few lessons in Southern hospitality was our waiter in the Cypress Room. However, both the quality of our meal, combined with the overall ambiance of the dining room, more than made up for his apparent lack of manners.

We also appreciated the fact that both of the resort's parking garages are attached to either side of the hotel itself, so that we did not need to risk either life or limb while attempting to cross the street, as is the case with most other accommodations' parking garages/lots that are located on Ocean Boulevard. Our only pet peeve was that their parking garages could have been a little more well lit.

All in all, we were extremely pleased and happy with our stay at the Island Vista Resort, and we will definitely be returning there for our next stay in Myrtle Beach.

This was our first visit to Island Vista. The first night we were there we had to overpay for a three bedroom condo because there were no other vacancies. We did however get a one bedroom room the rest of the week when rooms became available. The price for the second room was more than reasonable. I felt that the rooms were very clean. The service was excellent. John at the front desk was extremely accomodating. The outside pool area was nice but the lazy river was a disappointment because the water sprays were annoying. I would definitely stay at the Island Vista again.

This was our second visit to Island Vista in 2011. We had a family beach vacation in June, and my husband planned a golf trip for us and another couple in October. Everyone we met during this stay and the one earlier this year was polite, friendly and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. (With regards to some of the comments about unfriendly staff at this property, I travel frequently for work, and I've decided that the vibe you give out to the world is often the one mirrored back to you.) We had breakfast every morning in the Cypress Room, great value, great food, cordial and prompt service. Our condo was spotless and the housekeeping staff kept it that way during our entire stay. The two bedroom ocean front units are plenty of space for two couples. The renovations and the overall presentation of the rooms and grounds are excellent. You have to look closely to remember that this was the old Sea Island hotel. We will return to Island Vista in 2012.

Over the years, we have stayed in many hotels and condos in Myrtle Beach. This is, by far, one of the most beautiful and spacious. We stayed in the one king bedroom grand jacuzzi suite. It was more than we expected. The living room, dining area and kitchen were quite large and beautifully decorated, with a very large balcony area. This room is a part of a larger three bedroom condo with two of the bedrooms locked during our stay. (I believe the configuration we rented is available only in off-peak times.) There were two baths, with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower in the master bedroom. The parking garage is not the best we have seen, but it is connected directly to the main building rather than across the street as so many are. Because of theparking layout, it really helps to use the bellmen to help with luggage when you arrive. The only disappointment for me was the lazy river, which I usually enjoy. This one was small and is for those who don't mind getting soaked from water sprays which are very difficult to avoid. We had very cold windy weather during our stay and spent more than the usual time in our condo. It was a lovely place to relax!

This resort is definitely one of the nicest in the area. The condos are definitely bigger than most and are all ocean front! It is situated on a stretch of beach surrounded by homes so the beach area is quite quiet and private as this is the only large hotel in the area.
It has a great restaurant and bar area and an outside Tiki Bar which was not really in use at this time in October. The pools and hot tubs were great and one of the pools outside is heated in the colder weather.Would definitely go bach.

Room Tip: We had a one bedroom (which was located at the back of the unit) however you can get a 1 bedroom wit...

My family and I visit Myrtle Beach a couple of times each year and we always stay at the Island Vista Hotel. The hotel is always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have specials throughout the year that we take advantage of and we always enjoy our stay. We usually eat breakfast at the Cypress Room at the hotel and have found it to be very good. I have recommended this hotel to several of my friends.
