If you want to be close to the beach but away from all the traffic and confusion, then Island Vista is your place. An ocean view room is a must.

My wife, son, and I stayed at the Island Vista Resort for the first time in July. My wife and I have avoided Myrtle Beach for the past several years but decided to return at the request of our son who stayed in MB with some friends last summer and encouraged us to give it another try. With our stay at IVR, we didn't regret it!

First of all, the lobby area is very unimpressive and becomes very crowded during check-in since it so small. No big deal since we had no plans of spending much time there. However, once we arrived at our room (a one bedroom oceanfront w/ 2 queen beds), it was obvious we had arrived at some place special. The room (more like a suite) was very spacious, extremely clean, and appeared to be near new. We had a great view of the beach and there is nothing negative I can say about the accomodations. All the staff we encountered were nice and professional.

While we stayed on the beach most of our stay, we did venture to the pools and the lazy river on a few occasions. The pool was never overly-crowded, but the times we visited it were in the afternoons. The beach area was nice and was crowded, but not nearly as much as the other resorts you could see well on down the beach on both sides of IVR. The resort is in a residential area which prevented the beach from being overly crowded. In fact, you could walk one hundred yards in either direction and have the beach to yourself.

As for the food, despite getting a 75$ gift certificate at check-in for the in-house restaurant which we were unable to use, we did however eat breakfast on several occasions in the Cypress Room. For approx. $6.00 each, we got a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon (one day I counted approx. 8 slices just for myself), English muffins, potatoes, and a drink. I will return to IVR if for nothing more than for the breakfast.

In conclusion, we really enjoyed our stay and now have a reason to return to Myrtle Beach every year.

I have been going to Island Vista with my family since it opened and I wouldn't go anywhere else in Myrtle Beach!

When I approached the resort, for the first time, I was BLOWN away! The building is very big with many lights (at night of course). It honestly looks like a castle! The front area has a nice fountain and a very spacious unloading and loading area.

The men and women at the front desk have been there for years along with most of the staff members and they are so nice and willing to help you with anything promptly. If you need a bellman, you got it! The lobby has a very warm feeling and you feel like you're walking into a luxury house.

As for the elevators, they are off to the side away from the lobby and so if you're checking in, there will be no issues with space. There are 3 elevators and they are VERY quick even in the midst of the summer when the resort is full. I have stayed on the PH, 11th, and 8th floors the past 3 times I have gone and I have never had any problems with the elevators!
My family and I stay in a 3 bedroom oceanfront suite and it is better than some apartments and condos I have ever seen! The front hallway is very wide and you walk into a HUGE living room with a cherry wooden table that can seat 6 and kitchen with granite countertops, full fridge, full oven, stocked utensils/plates/bowls. There is plenty of room for people to sit in the living room so if you are visiting Myrtle Beach with friends, invite them over for dinner!

Each room has plenty of closet space and the bathrooms are very large! You could comfortably fit 6 people in this suite. The King Bedroom even has a tub with jets!
You can get to the balcony from the King Bedroom and living room. The balconies are huge and the views are amazing!
Every room has fast wireless internet so you can stay connected with everyone back home even though you are on vacation. Each room also has a big safe that you can fit multiple Coach purses in...we're a family of girls!

The pool area is very large with many palm trees for shade and umbrellas. There are plenty of chairs to go around so don't worry about getting a chair by the pool. There are 2 large pools outside and a lazy river/pool with basketball hoop inside along with a kiddy pool. It looks like the great wolf lodge inside the indoor pool area!
There is ALSO a tiki hut bar where you can get smoothies/alcoholic drinks as well as lunch food...I would suggest you try the chicken tenders!

The walk to the beach is very short and you can rent chairs/umbrellas on the beach from the lifeguard. On your way in, don't forget to wash off your feet with the coolest invention ever! It's this platform that activates when you step on in and sprays water on your legs to wash all of the sand off. There is also a hose and shower.

The Cypress Room is the restaurant in the hotel and it is AMAZING for breakfast and dinner. It opens for breakfast at 7:30 AM and doesn't close until 10. The pancakes are VERY good! Now dinner...I have never had such a great meal in my entire life. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the price. You don't even have to leave the hotel to get a 5 star meal! Make sure to stop at the front desk to make your reservations for dinner because they fill up quick!

I WOULD NOT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE IN MYRTLE BEACH! ISLAND VISTA IS THE BEST RESORT IN MYRTLE BEACH!

We love staying at the Island Vista in Myrtle! It's super kid friendly, the condos are spacious, pools are fun, and the food at the Cypress Room and Tiki Hut Bar (Restaurants in Hotel) is wonderful! It is in more of a residential area so the Beach is not that crowded in front of the Hotel. We stayed at Marriott Grande Dunes for a Conference and brought our kids with us 1 month ago and it doesn't compare to the Island Vista. We were so cramped for 4 nights in a small hotel room. The pools are great but that was about it! Island Vista is the where you should stay especially if you have kids!

We have been going to Myrtle Beach for many years! We began staying at the old Sea Island hotel that preceded the current Island Vista. We eagerly anticipated the completion of the new hotel and worried it would be too big compared to our love of the old Sea Island. Yes, it is larger, but it still has a small hotel feel. The rooms, pools, beach access, amenities cannot be beat! Don't forget to use the meal plan---for a small extra charge you can enjoy two wonderful meals each day in the ocean front dining room staffed with long time servers of the family owned hotel. So convenient and no need to fight the crowds around town. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms---look at the flooplans to reserve the room that best fits your needs.

Always love Island Vista. The big plus about this place is that it is surrounded by private homes so the beach is not crowded AT ALL! We've stayed at many hotels in MB....this has the prettiest pool setting by far! Stayed in 406 this time....great room. Not too high, not too low and getting there by elevator was so quick and you can also park on the 4th floor.....sooooo convenient!!! The ONLY negative..........they need more people to work the front desk! Lines form quickly. Attendants seemed overwhelmed.

Room Tip: We got a deal.......a 3 room condo for the price of a 2 room condo which also gave us an $85 gift ce...
