“Very nice for a pet friendly”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

I was kind of hesitant having stayed in pet friendly hotels before but, I was so surprised. We had an efficiency room, ocean front and it was awesome! I will definatly stay here again. Only draw back was walls are thin so, you can hear a lot of outside noise. That and the pool wasn't cleaned out daily, it was ok with me as I didn't use it. Very nice place!!

Room Tip: Ocean front is the way to go. Ask to be in the middle of the hotel and not on a side ocean front.

We were placed here as part of a Hilton promotion for the Anderson Grand Vacation a couple of hotels down the block. So, ok, to be fair - this was definitely NOT what I signed on for. If I had selected a hotel for myself, I would not be here.

That said I will describe my experience so you can make up your own mind if these things are important to you or not.

We enter the hotel lobby, which is tiny and cheap modern -- reminiscent of Ikea. But this is nothing compared to the water feature pond on the 2nd floor, which remained me of the sprinkler play grounds I played in when I was growing up in Brooklyn.

Then, the room. The door to the room opens off the exterior hallway - like the projects, or maybe a high rise motel. The room is very tiny even how people will find it hard to both be up and walking at the same time. The desk is up against the wall about 3 inches from the door. It's about 18 in by 3 feet with two kitchen-type chairs and a coffee maker and lamp on it - so not much room to eat or use your computer. And prepare to stare at a lovely beige stucco wall.

If someone is sitting at the desk you are out of luck if you want to get in or out of the bed on that side. Although there is a small arm chair on the other side of the bed.

There isn't anywhere to put two suitcases, so don't even think of bringing anything else into the room. Not even a luggage rack. The closet is a chintzy folding type with mirrors, but not wide enough to put a suitcase in. There is a cushioned bench which we had to use - which was ok but that left zero room to put anything down let alone a place to sit.

Sine the only wall with a picture was the one over the bed, the room has a cell-like feel, not exactly cheerful.

The bed was comfortable and clean but low-end old-fashioned bedspread and thin blanket.

The bathroom is also small but functional. Tub, shower, toilet, sink all functioning - but not all of the lights and the fan had no effect; the room was so steamy and wet after a shower that the sink counter across the room was soaking wet. This is May; I can only imagine what this is like in the summer.

We had a phone message but the "press here to retrieve calls" button only led to a busy signal. Eventually realized that there was a number to call.

Now the balcony. It's very tiny but does have two plastic chairs and a small table. It's a turquoise-like color that is so ugly and makes the balcony feel even smaller than it actually is. The only saving grace is that our room faced the ocean; I felt bad for those with a street facing view. The way the balconies are designed is herring-bone, maximize ocean view but also minimizes privacy.

Now for the facilities. During our stay in May, the coffee counter was not open, nor was the restaurant or the bar. So I was out of luck looking for a coffee at 11 am.

The beach was nice but I decided it would be best to not go barefoot after seeing the number of dogs being taken for their evening walk...

And best for last. At 7:30 pm there was a guy banging on the door... Turns out he was a painter who needed to check the hinges of the doorframe that I guess was painted while we were out. No call from the front desk to let us know this guy was legit.

Room Tip: Don't get a room that isn't facing the ocean. The rooms facing the street have a great view...

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at Patricia Grand Resort. We are sincerely disappointed that the property didn’t meet your requirements.

Patricia Grand is one of the few hotels in Myrtle Beach to have a “true” lobby as opposed to a check-in counter. It was renovated using light woods, modern touches and it takes advantage of the view of the ocean. We are sorry this isn’t your taste.

Most of the hotels and motels in Myrtle Beach were designed with outdoor corridors. This design maximizes the number of oceanfront or ocean view rooms at the property. Patricia Grand has all oceanfront or ocean view rooms.

Patricia Grand has a variety of room types ranging in size and design. We are sorry the room you were placed in didn’t fit your needs.

The property’s coffee bar is open daily and the restaurant and lounge have seasonal hours.

The beach on Ocean Boulevard is a public beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach at any time in the off-season and for limited hours from June 1-September 1.

Once again thank you for being so kind as to share your thoughts with us.

We stayed at the Patricia Grand because of a great Groupon deal. It costs less than we paid last year for a Best Western. All rooms have a nice view of the ocean. There is plenty of room at the pool and it's only a quick walk to the beach. The location is great, only 1.5 miles to Broadway at the Beach! The bathroom is huge in our single room unit. No signs of pets even though it's a pet friendly hotel. If you expect the Hilton, don't come here...but of you want a great place to stay at a great price, stay here.

Clean clean clean... did I mention clean! Our room was always clean as well as the rest of the hotel, even the pools! The service was great. Friendly and helpful. The location was good. The hotel is right on the beach. The parking deck is across the street. That was the only thing about the location I didn't like. I would most definitely stay here again!

Our stay was enjoyable. The resort offered plenty amenities and was within close proximity of entertainment, shopping and restaurants! The staff was very friendly and courteous and the room had a refrigerator and microwave, which is a plus for any stay away from home.

We had Great time at this Resort! The Staff was friendly and attentive. Our room was on the 18th floor, with a beautiful view of the ocean. A NON-Smoking resort, made for fresh smelling rooms and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again as well as recommend Patricia Grand to our friends who travel to Myrtle Beach! Thank you!
