“The resort itself is not a bad place.”
Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

We are driving back from a 5 day 4 night stay at Myrtle Beach Resort. While we loved the resort itself and the fact that the beautiful beach was right there, we would have enjoyed it more had it not been for Black Bike Week. The resort was overtaken by black people (not that I have anything against them) their motorcycles and crude, rude behavior. They were smoking pot at the pool right in front of babies and young children, they basically took over the pool since they come in packs.

On the upside, the unit we stayed in, though petite to say the least was very nice and updated.

The resort itself and the grounds were very nice.

I may consider giving this place another try, but definitely not during Black Bike Week!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights last week for vacation. We got a room on the 8th floor of the tower. It was the perfect size for just the two of us, with a very comfortable full size bed right next to the window with a gorgeous beach view. It was a bit odd that the toilet and shower were separate from the sink, but that didn't really bother us as the rest of the room and resort was great. There was a kitchenette with ample counter space and table so that we could make breakfast and lunch in our room. The best part of the room was definitely the balcony overlooking the ocean! The hallway of our floor was a little dingy, but the lobby was perfectly fine. During our stay we managed to swim in every outdoor pool at the resort and loved them all! Beach access is so easy, which was great, but there were a couple of drains from the resort with dirty water (not sewage!) draining onto the beach, so if you want to stay away from that, walk a little bit further down the beach. The quarterdeck restaurant/bar was perfect for a light dinner and drinks for our first night, but I wouldn't reccommend having more than a couple meals there, as myrtle beach has SO many amazing places to eat that are way better. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely come back!

First of all, we are experienced travelers and have stayed in various places in Myrtle Beach for over 20 years. The most important fact you should know about the Myrtle Beach Resort is that it is a 'very large property' and where you are located in this facility will make a huge difference to your vacation experience. We recently spent 10 days in 1 bedroom, oceanfront unit on the 5th floor (top) of Building A and the location was perfect. There are two ways you rent units here, first using a private owner booking and second using one of several property management companies, either onside or in Myrtle Beach proper. Booking directly with an owner can definitely save you money and if you are familiar with the unit itself, this is the way to go. Renting on location, like we did, is a little more expensive but offers you the opportunity to actually see the unit 'before' you pay up front and you have help onsite if something goes wrong. This sounds like a safer way to go but remember, it is still up to the owner of the unit you are renting to make things right, not the rental company. There are 'no refunds' ! We used the Myrtle Beach Resort Vacations office located right inside the entrance gates to the resort for our booking and the experience was far from great and customer service was definitely lacking. Now for the facilities. Most all of the 1 bedroom units are oceanfront, small but provide great vistas and access to the beachfront. Our unit was outdated and we needed to have the sofa bed replaced on the first day, which was a hassle with the management company but credit to the owner for getting it done within a couple of days. Kitchen utensils were sparse but everything appeared to work. As mentioned, not all units are equal and it is important to know what you are getting before you finalize the deal. If you planning a 'spring' vacation to MBeach, know this..it can be cool. The huge beachfront pool which you see in all the brochures of this resort 'is not' heated and is virtually useless in March/April as it stays at a constant 65-69F. The ocean on the other hand was a whopping 55F during our stay in Mid April. The indoor pools are heated but small and get very crowded and for me, were just not appealing. Same goes for the Indoor/Outdoor pool in the 5 seasons Centre. The Quarterdeck, which is the hub of activity here serves pub style food, reasonably priced , has a large overdose of Karaoke almost every night of the week..ok, if that is what you like. Finally, if we were staying there again, which is not likely, we would choose a 2 bedroom unit located in the first block of Building A, South Side or a 2 bedroom in Building B, north side, all from floors 3 and up. Twice the size, same view and same access to the ocean. You will also most likely get one for the same price as a 1 Bedroom and be much happier overall. In closing I think this resort is highly overrated, crowded and the layout is not what we want in an ocean front resort. There are much better options available in Myrtle Beach. We are a retired couple and very experienced travelers.

Room Tip: Buildings A or B, 2 bedroom units, floors 3 to 5. Lowest numbers are closer to the beach and the be...

We are thankful for folks like yourself that can give a thorough and informative review. We do wish it was a bit more open minded, but appreciate it none the less. We feel that if given the opportunity to fully serve you that you may would enjoy the resort better at a different time of year; possibly some time later, not Spring Break, like mid to late September. The resort crowd is much smaller in September and weather is perfect. The students are all back in school giving you many more options as far as condos, much warmer water (75 - 85depending on earlier or later in month), and a different variety of activities which are also based on the crowds. That said, if you ever return, feel free to give us a call and allow our friendly reservations department staff assist you in planning the perfect trip for you.

This is a beautiful, clean facility, maintenance is very responsive. I would not recommend that you rent in building B where the pool is located as it stays open until 11 p.m and it is difficult to sleep because of the noise.

Room Tip: don't stay in building B if you want to sleep

Thank you for your review. The resort has 4 different complexes on site all offering a variety of amenities. You are correct that the end of the B bldg has an indoor pool. In the future maybe you would prefer to either stay in the other section of the B building, outside the winter center and closer to the beach, or maybe one of the other 3 complexes that have more exterior than interior amenities. Feel free to call our reservations department 7 days a week to have one of our friendly staff assist you in choosing the right condo location for you and your family. We hope to hear from you again soon!

This place was a hole in the wall. The co do we stayed in was disgusting...the carpets were black the cabinets were greasy to the touch. We wouldnt even use the dishes in the unit. The grounds were no better. The pools and hot tubs were disgusting...I wouldn't even think of going in. The whole place was falling apart and it is NOT kid friendly. The security told us they recieved 20 calls in one day from home owners because of guests staying there. They sit and watch and complain about every little thing. We left before our stay was over....what a huge disappointment. I will let everyone I know to never stay here and social media will be abuzz with horriblw reviews from these VERY unhappy customers.

Wow, it sounds like you stayed somewhere else all together to me. Did you stay at the Myrtle Beach Resort??? I wish you had named it in your review so we would know for sure.

I am sorry to hear the resort was not to your liking. We (the company this review is posted for) are a property management company that manages about 300 of the nearly 1000 condos on site. I do not even know who you rented your condo through so I can't say a lot about that specific condo. We can explain that all of the 1000 condos are privately owned and each one is different from the rest. There are many different ways to rent them. We are happy to assist you in choosing one that IS to your liking should you ever choose to return

I can't honestly believe what I am reading as far as your review about the grounds. The resort is a beautifully manicured 33 acre resort with many great amenities. Our guests post photos on our Facebook page as well as here on Trip Advisor all the time.

For those of you reading this, I suggest that you look for yourself before you base your choice to stay at this resort or not. It may not be for everyone, it may not be for this particular reviewer, but it is a beautiful property. For anyone interested, we are happy to allow you to take a property tour before you book if you like. For our reviewer, we hope that you would consider looking in to this further and giving Myrtle Beach Resort another chance!

I agree with Jrmreinhart, overall great stay for your buck. We are in the Five Seasons unit but don't mind. We don't have small kids and, after a long winter up north, we were looking to get out and walk. Ideally we would love to be right on the beach. It's been good exercise walking to and from the beach as well as up three flights of stairs lol. Makes for good sleeping at night. We would stay here again if we had to, possibly in the Renaissance Tower or one of the buildings closer to the beach and room with a view of the ocean, however we would like to try other places in the area. We like having a choice of pools and the Quarterback is not a bad place to grab a bite to eat and have a drink while looking out at the ocean. Could use some updating, but pleasantly surprised.

I was visiting Myrtle Beach for a friend’s wedding. My boyfriend and I stayed from Tuesday to Wednesday in mid-March. We stayed in the Renaissance Tower in room 802 I believe, it was definitely on the 8th floor and was to the left at the very far end of the hallway. It was and oceanfront room and had a nautical theme. (Apparently each room has a different theme. This worried me at first, but I loved the decor!) It was a studio room with a full kitchen (even a dishwasher and large refrigerator!) It was a perfect fit for the two of us, though it would be perfect for a family of four with two small children as well. There was a queen bed as well as built in bunk beds. We had a small balcony, with two plastic Adirondack chairs. It was a bit cramped with the chairs, but what a view! The room itself was very clean and well maintained, though the windows were a bit neglected. The building was a bit dingy, there were a few areas that could definitely use some repair but nothing major. It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the entrance of the building and the building itself is really long. the elevators on the side of the building farthest from the water and our room was closest to the water. This was fine for us, but if you are traveling with someone who may have a disability or cannot walk too far this could be an issue. Like I said we were visiting for a wedding, so we had most of our time filled up with wedding festivities and meeting up with friends and family, thus, we didn't use much of the resort amenities. There was a pool directly to the right of the building and a nice patio/walk way heading towards the beach. The resort also offers two indoor pools and another outdoor pool, as well as, a kiddie pool and lazy river. There was a restaurant on the resort where we tried to have dinner at one night, around 8ish, but they were having a karaoke night and weren’t serving food any more. The resort isn't walking distace to any other attractions. you would need a car to get around, we paid $25 for parking for the entire week. The boardwalk area is about a 10-15 minute drive, Broadway at the Beach is about a 15-20 minute drive, though there are attractions like mini golf and food close by. Overall, I enjoyed the resort and would definitely return!
