“Great view from our Oceanfront studio”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We booked this studio in the renaissance tower for the thanksgiving weekend. This studio was pretty okay for 4 adults and a toddler. It could sleep in 6.There was a full bed.. a sofa bed and two bunker style cemented beds(probably for teens). This studio faced the ocean and had a beautiful sea view. The kitchen was small but workable. We cooked for 3 days. The studio had the basic amenities like dishwasher, microwave, cooking range, refrigerator and tv and cooking utensils. But did lack things like coffee filters, kitchen towel, rice cooker. We had to use the same towels for 3 days. Though we were given an extra set of bedsheet. You could walk to the beach. Very nice access to the beach for couple of miles. You could feel you are at the spa if you opened your balcony door and slept in the room. The studio was airy but since we went in the winter time we really had to turn up the heat. Great studio for the price we paid. There are some nice beach restaurants down the building that you can see from the balcony. There's also a camping trailer park and a small play area with swings for kids one block away from this building that you can walk to. They have a clubhouse which is not very great. Just a pool and a sauna room and a small seating area. They also have a Jacuzzi which is not very great as well. There is also a gym inside the building if you want to get your exercise... but my recommendation would be A RUN ON THE BEACH.

Room Tip: I would suggest spending the extra bucks on the oceanfront apartment/studio.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your business as well as your great review, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay.
Our studios are a wonderfully economical way to get the best of what the Renaissance Tower has to offer-an amazing view for literally miles! They are indeed compact and best suited to couples with one or two small children or business travelers who do not want to live out of a microwave all week.
We do our best to keep an up to date inventory on the dishes and cookware in the condos and I have passed your suggestion for a rice cooker on to the housekeeping department, as feedback is how we grow to better serve you.
Also, for future reference, we can and do happily provide additional towels or housekeeping services at a nominal fee.
Being a Vacation Rental Company we try to give our guests a higher level of privacy, while being easy to reach if needed. With that being said,we can custom fit any additional housekeeping needs you may have during your stay, from a complete clean and new linens to just an extra set of towels. Just call us as early as possible in the day, or if at all possible arrange these services upon booking or check-in so that we can plan ahead and better serve you.
We at Myrtle Beach Resort Vacations thank you for your patronage, as well as for taking the time to tell our possible future guests about your stay. We hope to see you again soon.
Sincerely,
MBRV Staff and Management

Back from our 3rd stay at Myrtle Beach Resort and as usual had a great time!! The landscape is beautiful and there is so much to do right at the resort! It rained three days while we were there but my daughters still got to swim in the indoor pool. We stay in a beautiful condo in building B and love it! It's close to Murrell's Inlet, Georgetown, Brookgreen Gardens, Pawley's Island, etc. and not far from Broadway at the Beach, the boardwalk and hundreds of other attractions! You can sit and watch the ducks and swans or enjoy the beautiful beach. There are play areas, ball courts, swimming pools, etc. We always enjoy being there. It is a very secure area. Now it is like a home away from home to us!!

Room Tip: We stay in Building B, but all the buildings look nice.

More than anything we would like to thank you for taking the time to let others know about Myrtle Beach Resort Vacations and that you enjoyed your experience.
We do pride ourselves on the fact that we were indeed one of, if not the first, self contained resorts built in all of Myrtle Beach and have set the bar for any others following behind.
With our sprawling 33 acres of lush, landscaped privacy, sports for all ages, and numerous eateries and pools, both indoors and out, we are sure to have something for all ages.
Our home owners have truly stepped up to the plate this year and last with upgrades, remodels, and condo improvements that are sure to please.
We hope to see you again soon and once again thank you for your patronage and great review!

We have spent five summers at this resort and we'll be back next year! Perfect for families or older couples. The condos are individually owned so quality varies. We rent from the same owner each year and we love this condo. Beautiful view and comfortably furnished. The resort has several pools, lazy river, snack bar, restaurant, laundry and a gorgeous beach. The surf water is about 80-85 degrees in the summer through mid September. Safe resort with lots of parking space---security guards are always available if needed. Great place. Don't miss it.

Room Tip: We like the Tower--try to get an ocean view.

Hello hotgrandma,
We love your user name by the way! Thank you so very much for your repeat business as well as your rave review of Myrtle Beach Resort Vacations.
Security is one thing amongst many that we take very seriously and pride ourselves upon. We do not allow anyone through our gates that is not a registered guest, owner, or an announced guest. This is to protect not only the safety and privacy of our guests, but also the serenity and beauty of our resort as a whole. With numerous outdoor and indoor amenities, gorgeous landscaping unique to the Grand Strand area. With a true Low Country feel and even our own little ecosystem complete with turtles, swans, and the occasional bunny family, we find it important to very strictly monitor the traffic so that we can maintain this peaceful atmosphere for all involved.
While Summer is the most popular time, we also offer Winter Rentals at monthly rates in lots of our condos, Winter Activities like Wii Bowling, and our great indoor climate controlled pool and hot tub with reading and resting nooks throughout the Ocean Spa Building. Simply call and ask about our great Long Term rates!
We are also looking forward to some great changes in the Food and Beverage Department for 2014 so make sure to stay tuned.
Sincerely,
MBRV Staff and Management

Stayed in a 2/2 unit. Had partial ocean view. Really reasonable rates after Labor Day, but resort fees are added. Condo was clean and furnishings were adequate, not top of the line but not old either. Only issue was the carpet really needed to be replaced due to staining and wear. We reported a missing TV remote (which mgmt replaced) but otherwise no problems. Place was quiet and safe. Pools and general areas clean. Interior hallways of buildings odd, very institutional looking and bleach smell around elevators and stairwells very strong. Wouldn't pay the summer high season rates for same condo, but good value off season.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. The Myrtle each Resort has nearly 1000 privately owned condos. Our rental agency rents out almost 300 of them. They are all different. We are glad you were "ok" with the condo you had, but would love the opportunity to show you one that will make you happy and excited to return. Give us a call when you are ready to plan your next trip to Myrtle Beach and we will work out a great deal on a great condo for you!

Stayed in room 1202 Sept. 7-14, 2013 with my mother, my brother and his wife and toddler. The room was clean, but small. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable, I felt like I slept standing on my head...the bed frame must have been bent. Turned the ice maker on in the fridge and it smelled terrible, so we had no ice during the stay. You only get enough towels for one day, so this means you HAVE to do laundry yourself in the laundry room that is located on the first floor with machines that cost $1.75 a load and more for drying. Bring extra towels and wash cloths and laundry detergent. They only clean your room before you arrive and after you leave, so you have to clean the room yourself during your stay. Who wants to clean and wash towels on vacation?!?! The view of the ocean and beach was nice, but the balcony was very small. Barely enough room for the 2 chairs that were on it, but who wants to sit out there with all the Pigeon poop and feathers?!?!? This was the first time I've ever had that problem at the beach and also the first time that I had seen Crows on the beach. There were more Pigeons and Crows than Seagulls. I'm thinking maybe it is because this "Resort" is located between campgrounds?!? The beach bar is loud on certain nights and loaded with obnoxious drunks that "caterwaul" late at night. Inside the Tower building was very quiet though, you rarely pass anyone in the hallways and never hear any noise. The beach was nice, but there are 2 storm drains on each side of the Tower building and one of them looked quite nasty will stagnated water in it for a few days until they dug the sand out and the water moved freely. There are signs there that talk about bacteria possibilities. There were dogs on the beach all hours of the day, this didn't bother me as I'm a dog owner too.....but I thought there were certain hours that you can take your dog on the beach??? Maybe these restrictions are lifted after Labor day??? I need to read up on that. Also, the gift shop was not open, it must close after Labor Day? I don't know for sure. I spent most of my day on the beach basking in the sun from sun-up to sun-down, the weather was perfect that week...no rain at all...that was my saving grace for this vacation. My brother reserved this room at this "Resort" and you get what you pay for. This was my first and last time at this "Resort", it is not a place that I would have chosen at all. So in a nutshell, I wouldn't recommend this "Resort" to any of my friends or family. As for restaurants.... Bubba's Fish Shack in SurfSide is great....I ate one of the best steaks of my life at Thorny's....and for Mexican I suggest El Cerro. Happy traveling. :)

We are sad to hear that your experience was less than pleasant. We will address a few of your concerns here to assist other travelers plan a more pleasant experience...
Yes after Labor Day Myrtle Beach as whole begins to wind down and services and beach rules do change. Certain amenities such as the gift shop are very slow in business, so they do close that store. The store does however move the more popular items to the Galley for guests to continue to access year round.

As far as the condos, they are all privately owned. They are furnished and decorated according to the taste and budget of the individual owners leaving no 2 condos alike.

You stayed in an ocean front efficiency which is ok for 4, but best for 1-2 people due to the size being around 400sf. It features a queen bed and a sofa bed as well as a small but fully equipped kitchen. The resort offers efficiencies, studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom condos. For a family we usually suggest at least getting the 1 bedroom condo for added comfort of the additional square footage. 2 bedroom condos offer separate bedrooms for the parents and the kids as well. All condos feature a living room with sofabed, a fully equipped kitchen, balconies with various but lovely views, and at least 1 full if not 2 full baths.

As far as housekeeping services, in the vacation rental industry it is standard to clean and prepare the condos before and after each guest stays, but no throughout the week like a hotel. That said, if you book through us directly, we do have the ability to add those services on for you as frequently as you choose. Fees are based on what services you want and how often. Prices are reasonable as well.

It seems as though your brother tried to assist you in planning a great vacation, but maybe you would have been happier if you had reserved it yourself so that we could have listened to your personal tastes and needs and assisted you in choosing a condo you would have been both comfortable and happy with.

If you ever choose to return to Myrtle Beach Resort, feel free to call us directly and our friendly reservations staff will be happy to assist you in planning your vacation based on your personal wants and needs.

We stayed here for two nights while on holiday here but had I checked the rooms before paying we wouldn't have stayed. It was very dowdy and wasn't convinced of the cleanliness of it. A lesson learned I checked every hotel after that. The reception area looked okay but wasn't impressed with anywhere else in it. I didn't think the staff were that great either, very can't be bothered.

We are sorry that you were not "impressed" with this resort, but are appreciative of your review and perspective. Myrtle Beach Resort is a beautifully landscaped resort that is a bit aged, but very well kept and designed to be an affordable family friendly vacation spot. The MB Resort HOA spends time every off season making necessary repairs, painting, and updating the grounds and the resort. The condos are all individually owned and are maintained and furnished by the actual homeowner themselves. For that reason, some folks like some condos better than others.

If you are searching for elaborate or brand new facilities, it is not. It is however a really nice place to rent an affordable privately owned condo right in the beach. For our readers we suggest that you go onto our website, Facebook page, or even come take a tour and decide for yourself. We realize we can not please all the people all the time, but feel certain that you will find this to be a nice place to stay.
