previous reviews were correct--the rooms are extremely clean and the front desk staff had pleasant demeanors. i'm not sure if all bathrooms lacked an exhaust fan, however, our room did and it was disappointing to step out of the shower as a "clean person" and find yourself sweating within seconds. i vacationed with a friend and her teenage son so we did not have the ability to walk out into the living/sleeping quarters simply to be near the air conditioning unit while toweling off. even leaving the door open while showering offered little help because the air conditioning unit, while keeping the living/sleeping area adequately cool given the 98 degree temps outside, could not remove the humid air from the bathroom. one other less-than-agreeable situation we experienced was the daily long wait to receive clean bath towels. each morning ~10 a.m., our housekeeper would pick up our three bath towels from the previous days' use without leaving us clean replacements. some days the housekeeper would return several hours later with three clean towels, but, a few days we found ourselves without towels closer to the time period 3 p.m. with one day requiring a personal visit to the laundry to beg for some towels. fortunately, we had packed three personal bath towels, however, i've never experienced such a long wait for "hotel towels". it made me wonder if the hotel owner should invest in additional towels?? lastly, we booked an efficiency for the purpose of having a range and refrigerator to store and cook breakfast meals. the refrigerator was a large dorm-style refrigerator which had not been turned on in advance of our arrival. long story short, it took ~30 hours for the refrigerator to be cold enough for us to feel comfortable storing our perishables. the small "freezer" area was the first part to get reasonably cold so we removed the meat, milk, and cheese from our tiny cooler and placed them there ~seven hours after turning on the refrigerator, but the remaining perishable items we kept iced down in our soft-side cooler for longer than i, personally, felt comfortable. fortunately, our cooler was small enough to fit inside the dorm style refrigerator --we didn't want to throw the food away so we just prayed that we wouldn't get sick. still, we worried about the safety of the meat, eggs and milk given the length of time they could not be adequately refrigerated and this, i feel, was the biggest problem we experienced. i have never rented an efficiency which had such a refrigerator, so, it was a lesson learned, i.e., i'll be sure to ask about the refrigerator the next time i book an efficiency. in closing, i will say that after initially walking around inside our unit (with no bad smells such as mold or chlorine and no dirty feet from walking barefoot on the carpet) we never once doubted the cleanliness of our room. that criteria PLUS knowing that we would have a "confirmed" parking space, mostly compensated for the lack of a bathroom exhaust fan and ~almost~ compensated for their failure to turn on the refrigerator prior to our arrival. the location is very convenient if you want to easily travel to the coastal carolina mall, broadway at the beach, or connect with the bypass (hwy 31) to the north myrtle beach areas.
