I called this hotel before leaving home to ask about the conidtion of their rooms. I was told they have all just been totally remodeled. So, I thought GREAT! I was VERY disappointed to find out their total remodel meant a coat of paint on the bedroom walls, and possibly new carpet. But, our room still had a VERY funkie smell (not a new paint smell).and the bathroom was definitely lacking anything new. The toilet was rusted out, the bathroom door had so much water damage the laminate was peeling off of it, wall paper also peeling in the bathrooms. And when's the last time you stayed at a hotel so cheap they did not supply any soap or shampoo? TOTAL FLOP HOUSE! It does look like other rooms were being painted and carpet changed out, but this hotel needs much more updates than that. Not to mention the indoor pools...the walls are suppose to be blue tile, but they are all BROWN from filth. Needs a deep scrubbing on the walls and floor. The out door pool was much cleaner than the indoors. Too bad it's 30 degrees outside. Would not stay again, even if it was FREE!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

In 2012, we decided to stay at Holiday Sands South, and loved it. It was a little further south than we realized, but was happy with the motel. This past year, we decided to move further up the coast to Holiday Sands North. Big difference. The staff at HSS, was awesome; HSN not so much. They weren't rude, but not friendly either.

When we first got there, we checked our safe, and noticed that it wasn't working. The display read, low batt. I went down to the front desk, explained the situation, and was told someone would be right there. True to their word, they sent up a gentleman. He looked at the safe, and said that he couldn't fix it, because it was causing the computers to mess up. WHAT? It isn't even plugged in. We figured, oh well, we could just take our stuff with us, a hassle yes, but better than losing/getting stolen. The next morning, the safe issue was resolved. Another gentleman came in and switched the batteries and apologized.

The maid service was extremely lacking. We had a pile of sand in our room for the week. Never was vacuumed. We honestly left it there to see how long it would stay. We couldn't get towels, tissue paper, dish rags/towels. The maids acted like they didn't understand what we needed. A lot of the stuff were things that any motel/hotel would stock. They never once changed our sheets. I ended up taking mine off so they would. I realize that some hotels/motels don't change sheets, but a lot do. Especially if you have a week or longer stay.

The room was outdated. Which wasn't a big problem for us, but it wasn't like HSS. The room had the usual stale smell. The mattresses were like sleeping on a slab of rock. Honestly, it really seemed run down, and nasty. Not roach motel, but just not well taking care of.

We agreed on the way home, that we wouldn't stay there again. Definitely won't recommend.

The kids gave us a month at the beach for Christmas. We must rate this hotel GREAT. The prices were wonderful for SNOW BIRDS RATES. They give a special rate to those coming to stay for a month during the off season months. They had the best rates on the beach! !The rooms were newly remodeled and the staff went above & beyond to make our stay just WONDERFUL. They have 2 buildings and one has a hot tub and the other a pool, lazy river & hot tub. They also have a cafe in the 2nd bldg. Haven't eaten there yet but plan to before our month is up. Our room is on the ground floor and we can look out the window to see the beautiful ocean. There is the boardwalk directly behind our back door so you can walk to the pier or just walk the boardwalk up to the skywheel if you want. This has been a SUPER experience and if the kids are generous next year, this is where we'll be coming. Haven't got one bad thing to say about our stay! ! Would return here for any vacation and recommend it highly. It's an older hotel but all newly remodeled. Our room has a new TV, full kitchen w/full size table , couch, bed and good size bathroom too. We definitely recommend it! ! !

Room Tip: Any room overlooking the ocean is GREAT

We really enjoyed our stay at your hotel; the night desk manager Terry Burrough was very nice and helpful. It was refreshing to have a gentleman with a smile assist you and seem to enjoy his job. The hotel of course can use some maintains/upgrades but overall our stay was very enjoyable and when we return we will visit your hotel.
