FYI, if you are not an 'Owner' then you are a 'nobody'!! First, we were scheduled and referred to the West Gate resorts by my mother in law(owner) to be a prospect in purchasing a time share. The dates we 'booked' were short a day when we got our confirmation. Check-in...thinking we were getting a room with a view/couch/microwave/internet bc of our referral...not a chance! Room was dreadfully small, smelled of urine, bathtub didn't drain, safe didn't work, the sm fridge was 'leveled' with a very soggy, folded newspaper. NO WIFI!! We actually were told $10 a day per device!! We actually went out in the balcony and joined the hotel next doors wifi for free so I could work even though vacationing. I still had work to do. We asked to pay whatever difference in price to be upgraded, emphatically told us no that there were no other rooms available. There wasn't even a little round table that even a MOTEL6 has to eat a snack on bc the room was so small. No coffee cups, went to the front desk for some, 3 attendants behind the desk (1was actually helping a guest) the other two didn't even acknowledge with a nod that I existed in front of them as they chatted to each other. Pool was closed with caution tape. The parking on site was ONLY for owners. EVEN THOUGH I PAID MONEY TO STAY THERE. We had to park across the street in a very dark parking lot. Horrible! We communicated all of this to customer service...they wanted to 'reimburse' us for wifi. Which we had turned down their 'gold-plated wifi' service, but bc we didn't use it, they ended up doing NOTHING for the disgusting stay in the MOTEL! Oh and wear booties in your room!! In 20, after kicking my shoes off to unpack...my feet were dis-coloring from the 400yr grime!!! Good luck!

Ended up here for one night via discount website that doesn't give you the property name until you pay. Got a very good rate so obviously wasn't surprised when we did NOT get an ocean view. As the other reviews mention the "tower" and the older part of the hotel are quite a bit different. Fitness room (which is pretty nice even though it lacks any kind of dumbbells or free weights) is on the first floor of the tower and you can tell a big difference. Didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't speak to that, but the staff that I encountered were very friendly. Room was pretty standard: definitely not fancy, but it was clean. Could definitely do worse than this property.

we booked thru deal chicken,it took a month to find out where we were staying.my first mistake.when I called westgate to ask questions,then paid $89.00 for another night.we were told the room had microwave,coffeepot,frig.. well they wanted $10.00 per night for microwave,and internet,no one charges for extra for that.other hotels said buy 3 nights get 4th free,we paid.the room had a dirty sox under bed.we couldn't use lazy river the tubes were kid size.there were not enough lounge chairs by the pools.they had 1 hot tub and it was filled up with kids.i thought we were getting a ocean front room but it faces the amusement park.we were very disappointed with this vacation,i stayed at other places in myrtle beach and never had a problem. the restaurant has excellent service good food,prices.

Room Tip: it depends on what view you want to see

Planned a trip for my cousins bachelorette party weekend, we're from New Jersey so the ride was pretty brutal. We arrived at Westgate around 5:00 AM Friday morning and TJ checked us in.. He was more than helpful however, the room was not what we expected! We used our timeshare and did not see the "basic room" pictures. After the 6 of us decided that our 2 full size beds weren't going to be enough we went down to see what they can do. Found out that there is a completely different section of the resort (the bigger & better rooms.) TJ was amazing & got us in a better room for our 2 night 3 day stay!

All the staff members were very helpful! Thank you to the ladies at the small desk by the front door for helping us plan out our weekend!

My girlfriend and I stayed four days and three nights here last week. It was a great vacation, we had a room with an ocean-view in the new tower. I would go back, but there were some problems. If you stay in the tower, you only get housekeeping once a week (which they didn't tell us when we booked our stay). Even after we asked to get some new towels on our final day, they still couldn't come through with that promise. There are two different pools, a lazy river, and a kiddie pool play area, but only one entrance to the beach, which is a bit of an inconvenience. Our room was beautiful, but there was a hole in the bathroom door, and the water pressure in the shower was low. It's farther down from the strip, about a 20 minute walk, and if you're with a family, Family Kingdom Amusement Park is right across the street. Other than that, being farther down from the strip is nice for couples for a romantic getaway. It's a very large complex, near the airport, and if the price is right, go for it. I must say having our room ready at 9 in the morning when it was supposed to be ready at 4pm that day was fantastic. Overall, I'd stay there again, but if they were to fix a few things here and there, it would be a 5/5 instead of a 4/5.

Room Tip: We stayed in the tower portion, which is newer, so they are much, much better.
