“Family Vacation Fun!”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

We had 3 families that shared an Angle Ocean Front Room with 3 bedrooms at the Palms. It was perfect for all of us! We loved everything about the Dunes Village Resort! The amenities were fantastic, the staff was so helpful and friendly, and our room was beautiful! If ever we needed anything, the staff was on it in a matter of minutes! We normally would stay in a house when we come to Myrtle Beach so this experience was new to us and a very pleasant one! The resort is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for! It's worth every penny! To have access to an indoor waterpark, the pool, lazy river and then the beach...all within walking distance is a dream! We will be returning next year!

Everything was a nice surprise. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were fantastic, stove, microwave, full size refrigerator, 2 TV's, movies in room, separate sink area away from bathroom with large mirror and ocean front balcony. They also had 2 different pool play areas with a wide variety of slides, kids areas, hot tubs, etc. Also have a huge parking garage that's free for you to park in. So needless to say we had a fantastic time!!

Pools were great! Kids areas with water slides and lazy river were enjoyed very much by my kids. Housekeeping was good, hotel was clean, daily kids activities (some you pay for). Restaurant and tiki bar are nice. Would definitely stay again

Room Tip: We had 1 bedroom condo

Family fun seems to be the theme for Dunes Village Resort, and we are so happy to hear that you and your family had a great time with us! We try to schedules good activities for a break in your day. The crafts cost, but we also include games, movies and other spur-of-the-moment freebies like complimentary popsicles or cotton candy, just for fun.

We hope to see you back here again soon for some more memory making. Thanks for taking the time to share your 5 star review!

We just returned from our first family vacation to Myrtle Beach. We have 5 kids from age 12 - 2. We had never been to Myrtle Beach. After vacationing here, I'm not sure I would want to go back to our normal vacation spot at OC, Maryland or Rehoboth, Delaware. Although these places are great, Myrtle Beach is so much better. The water temperature was pleasant. The waves were big but not wicked. Dunes Village provided a great resort atmosphere. We stayed in the South Tower and had great views of the beach. The first night we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom penthouse on the 14th floor. This room was awesome. Each bedroom had access to its own bathroom. The kitchen and living areas were separate. With a big family, this room is perfect. For the next 6 nights we moved to a 2 BR 2 Bath unit on the 11th floor. This room was obviously much smaller but was sufficient for our family. I recommend requesting a high floor when booking. I would imagine the lower floors overlooking the swimming pools could be noisy. There are many planned activities for the kids, although we did not sign up for any. The water slides are great. After a few hours on the beach, the kids loved spending time on the slides. It was a great alternative to the ocean right at our hotel. The parking garage is free. It takes a little while to get in and out of, but it's a nice amenity. I utilized the valet for a few nights. That is $12 a day, but when you don't feel like trying to find a spot in the garage and then walk back across the street, it is a nice feature. The people were very friendly. The house cleaning was ok. I don't normally stay in a place that has daily housekeeping (we usually rent a condo or house with cleaning at the end of the stay) so it is not a high priority for me. I am already thinking of booking again for next summer.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor

Thank you so much for offering so much insight into Dunes Village Resort. We are glad to hear we converted you from other beaches to be a regular Myrtle Beach visitor. You offered some excellent feedback, and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

Room requests are a wonderful way to let us know what your preference is. However, we cannot always guarantee that we will be able to honor your requests, as we guarantee the type of room that we sell, but not the location. We do our best, but as I said, they are requests, not guarantees.

We look forward to many more visits with you and your family. Thanks again for taking hte time to share your 5 star review.

We vacationed here for the first time the last week in July 2014. We enjoyed our stay and would stay at this location again.
PROS- it is ocean front with easy access to the beach. The outdoor pool and spa are very clean and nice. Beach chair rentals are available for $35 a day for two chairs and an umbrella. (a little much). The water park in the hotel is nice for the little ones. There is also a game room with billiards, shuffle board and ping pong. Activity sheets can be picked up that tell of events happening through the week that are family friendly. We attended the glow party on a Wednesday evening and it was A LOT of fun. Lots of families with all age kids dancing and having fun in the pool. I guess if you wanted to turn in early that night the DJ may have been too much for you. The place was clean and staff were friendly. Also very nice to have a full service Starbucks in the lobby! Free parking in the garage across the street. The restaurant Captains Cave was good, nothing special your normal burger and fries place. There is a pool side bar, but drinks are expensive. Feel free to bring your own beverages to the pool. Just don't swim with them.

CONS- We had a first floor ocean/pool front room. Dj plays pool side from 12-6 daily. It can clearly be heard in your room with all doors and windows closed. It may be very hard for little ones to nap. But we made the best of it. Also the first floor rooms do require you to walk up about 6 steps with all your luggage. The décor and bedding are dated, typical for a beach hotel. The shower was less of a shower and more of a power washing. No water pressure problems here. Our room was not exactly how we imagined when booking online. We booked a king size suite with a pull out sofa bed. We were under the impression there was some type of divider between the two beds but there was not. But there were two TV's? Parking garage spots are very tight. Our car was dinged in the garage.

Room Tip: Avoid first floor ocean front.

I was very pleased with Dunes Village. Although pricey, I feel as though we definitely got what we paid for. There was plenty for the kids to do, while our visit was pretty much rained out. They had whipped cream eating contests, face painting, and a glow party! We did not have a shower curtain, although, they got us one right away, and the closet door was broken, which was also taken care of very quickly. I would suggest oven mitts and at least salt and pepper shakers in the kitchen though. Had a great stay nonetheless.

We are thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful stay here with us at Dunes Village Resort. Your 5 star rating means the world to us! We appreciate yuor mentioning the planned daily activities we have. We try hard to keep the kids and parents occupied, scheduling events every day except Christmas Day. We are the only resort in Myrtle Beach that continues their activities after Labor Day.

We certainly hope to see you back here again soon. Thanks for sharing your fantastic review!

Our stay @Dunes Village was fabulous!! The staff, location, and cleanliness was top notch!! We choose a resort in case of bad weather (which did happen) so there was always something to do. The pools and indoor waterslides were a hit with our three teenagers. We were able to go from beach to indoor/outdoor activities with ease. We stayed in a angled ocean view 2 bedroom (4 queen beds) condo....the view and room was perfect!! The location of the resort was great....not too close to downtown but not too far away. We will definitely stay @Dunes Village the next time we go to Myrtle Beach.

Room Tip: When in doubt...call the resort and ask questions.
