“Amazing Resort with even more amazing staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Beyond the obvious great features like the water park, the kids club and etc - the thing that stood out the most about Dunes Village Resort is the staff. We had an amazing experience when we called to book the trip. We had a lot of questions - but the staff was very willing to help us through all that we needed to book the trip. Then our plans changed at the last minute and we called the day of, to see if we can book one extra night earlier. Dunes was so accommodating that in an effort to not have to be in one room for the extra night and then have to move to another room for the remainder of the trip - they upgraded for free. AMAZING!!! We will surely be back next year. Can't wait!!!

Well, will should I start? The many times we visited the beach this resort stood out due its indoor water park. My kids begged us to book a stay; however, upon calling Dunes the room rates were out of our price range during peak season. We finally had the opportunity to book during off season. Honestly, we were more excited than the kids. Too bad our experience did not match our anticipation. We arrived and discovered this moderately upscale resort had no parking deck near. All parking was across the street. Not directly across from the resort but quite a few feet away from the main entrances. Yes, I did say entrances! #2 on the list on my list. Check-in was most confusing because there are two entrances which separated the buildings. Signage did not direct guest where to check-in. Imagine unloading your luggage and discovering you're in the wrong lobby not to mention the long walk from the parking deck. #3 So we finally make it into the room - sneeze- closet. Wow.. what was all the hype? The room was not larger than a regular hotel room. Took the kids to the indoor water park and nearly required EMS due to an asthmatic attack-not really. The chlorine fumes were toxic despite windows being opened. As for the in door water park, absolutely fantastic if you can tolerate the fumes. My advice to future guests - visit during off season, bring walking shoes and maybe consider finding another resort to stay. The inconveniences were not worth the money.

Thank you for taking the time to share your toughts on Dunes Village Resort. I am sorry that your experience was not like most others that have stayed in the past. We try hard to give our guests a lot of value for their hard earned dollar. While our rooms are not the most luxurious rooms, they are clean and have ample amenities to offer comfort away from home. Our water parks are maintained to the health standards we are regulated by, meaning we do not over chlorinate our pools, and we monitor them regularly.

We certainly hope you consider us again if your travels bring you back to Myrtle Beach. Thanks again for the feedback.

We loved our stay at Dunes Village! They are an amazing resort that is extremely family friendly! Our three year old could not get enough of the waterpark, and my wife and I loved that all the play areas and pools were so clean and well maintained! Our room was spacious and very clean, and we had our own washer and dryer which meant we had no laundry to return home and wash! This was our 5th family trip to Myrtle Beach, and our first time staying at Dunes Village, but we will not be staying anywhere else in the years to come! We Loved this resort!

We had a great vacation and our daughter had TONS of fun but all that is required for a 6 year old to have fun is mom and dad and a pool! We've stayed here 3 years in a row and the people who work at Dunes Village are a delight. They deal with sooo many people and types of families I can't imagine how hard it must be. But I would be willing to pay more for nicer rooms. Our room was not clean. It felt used and worn out. I know there is a lot of traffic during the summer but I can't handle a dirty feeling room. The beds were old and one of the mattresses was "broken" from either too many uses or an oversized use. The bathtub looked to have mold on the walls. The carpet didn't seem clean and the furniture had seen much better days. Please Dunes Village, freshen up the rooms, paint the walls, clean the carpets, get rid of those yucky bedspreads! I love this place and would pay more for better accommodations.

Room Tip: We had a one bedroom ocean front queen suite. Ask for an upper level floor.

This is a fantastic hotel. I recently spent 12 days in Myrtle Beach and I'm glad I chose this resort. This was my first time in Myrtle Beach and chose this resort because of their water park. I was initially worried it wasn't near the center of town but upon learning the area, this hotel is in the best location. It's very close to downtown Myrtle and North Myrtle. I stayed in an angled 2-bedroom unit with an "ocean view". The ocean view consisted of a view of the municipal parking lot with the ocean in the distance, which I was fine with. Breakfast and lunch at the hotel was very good. Some minor negatives...The unit I was in could have been cleaned a little better upon check-in, as the kitchen counter top was a tad bit dirty. Also, my room's water pressure was poor. Otherwise, a excellent hotel which I highly recommend!

PROS: Water park, Great location, Large unit, Friendly Staff, Clean, Pools & water park open until 11 pm, Very Quiet,

CONS: Parking Lot is across the street, Low water pressure

If you enjoy Spanish music blaring at 11:30pm or worse, 7:00am, this is the place for you. If you have tear drop tattoo's, perfect place.Skin lesions? You'll fit right in. The number of people packed into each room, and the quality of clientele that stay here couldn't be worse if they tried. It's unfortunate because the place is kept clean, and there are fun things for the kids to do.

Just know what you are getting into.

The description you gave regarding your stay does not sound anything like Dunes Village Resort. Our property is not the least expensive place on the beach, nor is it the most expensive, and our clientelle has always been a respectable lot. We tend to attract families that come year after year so we get to watch the children grow up. We have a safe environment for the kids to play, arts and crafts along with scheduled events designed to create family bonding time, and plenty of other wonderful attributes here at Dunes Village Resort. Additioanlly, our rooms are clean and well maintained.

I am sorry if your experience was anything less than perfect. I am not sure where Spanish music would be blaring from at 11pm or early in the morning, as our quite time is during these hours. If you would like to discuss this matter further, I can be reached at 843.449.5275 most days.

Sincerely,

This was a last minute trip at the end of our fast summer and all of it busyness, as well as our first trip to MB, it was all we could fit in but worth every penny. The room was spacious and welcoming from the staff. We ended up on the 3rd floor; the great thing was there were not problems with any of the units on top or on the other side of the walls. The ocean front King Studio was more then enough. From the time I entered the door, Sheila was ending her day checking us in with a VERY welcoming smile and hospitality greeting. Thank Dunes staff!!
