“Awesome at any time!”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Celebrated the new year, a few days into January, and had a relaxing experience! Room 543 had a perfect oceanfront balcony perfect for us! The kids enjoyed the indoor water park-FUN was had by all! We will stay here again!

Room Tip: Rooms on oceanfront, like 543, are close to elevator and to ocean view!

A couple of good friends and I decided we needed a small weekend getaway. Myrtle Beach is only 2 hours from us so it's an easy choice. I previously stayed at the Dunes for a week during the summer of 2007, and I remembered having a really good time. We narrowed it down to the Dunes & 2 other places. The Dunes won, here's why: EASY BOOKING. They offer many booking options, & we discovered that we only had to pay for one night of our stay in order to book. Many others require half of the entire stay as a deposit or paid in full to book. Also, our security deposit was only $50 dollars. And since we would not be checking in until late in the afternoon, we needed a place that offered the most things to do late in the evening. At the Dunes, the bar was open late. All pools, water parks, hot tubs, were open late. Outdoor pools were heated for the winter, as were indoor pools. We booked two ocean front queen suites. Each came with two queen beds and jacuzzi tub.

To list all of the perks about staying at the Dunes could take all day, so here are the basics: The Dunes has SO much to do. You really can stay here and not have to go out to find something to do. The views from the rooms are beautiful. The beach is always clean. The units almost always come with a furnished kitchen. Our unit had in-room laundry. The staff will go out of their way to see to it you have EVERYTHING you ask for, in a timely manner. The property is close enough to everything you might like to do in MB, but far enough to enjoy some privacy and relax. They offer room service. The food is pretty good. The drinks are better. :)

I always see good reviews from families with children for the Dunes, so I wanted to add one from a small group of late-twenty-somethings that were looking for a quick night away. It's pretty much our go-to place in MB. It can be more on the expensive side during the summer, but keep in mind that you get what you pay for. And they offer a lot of packages and discounts. We had the package with the free buffet breakfast in the Admiral's Room. I was surprised to see this hotel so crowded during the off-season, but they have some irresistable deals during this time of year.

We travel frequently and we are no where near easy to please when it comes to hotels and their service, cleanliness, etc. The ONLY things I could find wrong with the Dunes were very small, such as a little paint missing off of the bottom of the door in our bathroom. And trust me, we LOOKED for a flaw! Couldn't really find any! Stay here if you have kids, stay here if you don't, it's worth it either way! We will return in the summer. :-)

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best views. The offer many types of rooms so be sure to be specific when book...

We love the Dunes Village Resort as our Winter getaway! The kids LOVE being able to swim and enjoy the indoor water park when the temperature outside is freezing! They really enjoy the lazy river and slides, and I love that we had a washer and dryer in our room to dry our bathing suits between swims!

Thank you for your wonderful 5 star review of Dunes vIllage Resort. Not only do we have a super water park that is indoors in the winter, we also have year round scheduled activities to entertain you. We also have ping-pong, pool tables and shufflebard. And many other diversions to keep you occupied the entire time you are here.

While washers and driers are not available in some of our smaller units, we do have onsite laundy rooms for your convenience.

We look forward to having you back here at Dunes Village Resort soon!

The 2 bedroom 2 bath unit 852 was large enough for our family of 5. So good to have more than 1 full bath! Great restaurant and food on site! The activity director is great with children. Alot of activities beside the usual pool and hot tub. Awesome water park indoors so it was good for the chilly January weather when we were there. We heard a new pirate ship activity will be here beginning this summer so we will return for that. Sean,in the dining room, was wonderful, happy and good with kids. He offered to have anything we wanted that was not at the breakfast buffet made for us.This vacation left the enire family feeling like we had a real vacation. Everyone was happy, no complaining or whinning from even the littlest one of 3 yrs old!

The waterpark is awesome, it's beachfront which is a huge advantage. The rooms are really nice and clean, just a little cramped. We've been coming for several years and the price just keeps getting higher and higher. Hate to do it but think we'll have to try some place new because of the sky rocketing price.

After my last stay here I was nervous, but I called ahead and was told the waterpark was rolling great. The inside of the water park was very comfortable and the water was warm. Kids had a great time in the middle of January swimming in the pools and going down the slides. The 2 bedroom Angle Ocean was as always the best. The staff is great. Can't wait to get back with the family.

Room Tip: Get a 2 bedroom. So nice and spacious and worth the extra cost.

My family and I normally stay at a very highly rated smaller motel in Myrtle Beach, but we wanted to try something different while the rates are low during the winter. We saw that Dunes Village has an indoor water park so we gave it a try. We had the most wonderful vacation! We had a double queen suite with an ocean view on the tenth floor in the Palms building. The room and the view were beautiful! The beds were comfortable and the sheets actually fit the bed! That may seem silly, but I hate poor fitting sheets that get all bunched up when you turn over in the night. Our pillows were soft. There was an additional pull down bed in the wall that was cozy as well. We loved having a dishwasher and washer/dryer in the room. The room was quiet and we felt secure in our room. We had no noise problems as I have seen in other reviews. The room was clean as a pin. We had no problem connecting to the internet through the resort's WiFi.
The indoor water park is actually like two separate parks. The park inside the Palmetto building is better suited for smaller kids/toddlers. The slides are pretty simple but adults can use them as well. They are pretty tame. Perfect if you've never been on a water slide before! The lazy river is also in this building. Lots of little kids in the lazy river as well. There is also a kiddie area with elephants that squirt water, etc. The Palms building has the taller, faster water slides. There is a big hot tub/whirlpool in this area, a lap pool, and a basketball pool area. This water park area seemed to be more popular with the older kids. None of the indoor pools are deeper than 5 feet. The water was very warm and clean in both areas. It is quite inconvenient to cross a parking lot to go between the parks. A covered crosswalk would be an awesome addition to the water parks!
The elevators in the resort are super fast and we didn't have to wait very long to get where we wanted to go.
The outdoor areas looked very inviting. We did not try any of the restaurants or other services offered by the resort, so I can't speak to those. We would love to come again next winter. We definitely can't afford this resort in the summer, although I bet it's wonderful!
Our least favorite part was the walk to the car in the parking deck across the street. However, there seemed to be plenty of parking available.
We can't afford the summer time rates, so we will be returning next winter!

Room Tip: The Palmetto building has the tamer water park, geared toward the smaller kids. The Palms building...

Thank you for writing such a wonderfully descriptive review of Dunes Village Resort. We are so happy to hear that you decided to try us out, and that you enjoyed everything we have to offer!

Dunes Village Resort is a unique property in Myrtle Beach, as it is the only resort with a full water park that includes slides, numerous pools and a 250 foot long lazy river.

We have a lot of fun around here, and we are happy to hear that you did too! Thanks again for giving us a try. We look forward to having you back again soon!
