“Best Myrtle Beach Resort we've ever stayed”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

My wife and I have been coming to Myrtle Beach at least once a year since 1985. Having stayed ocean front in over 15 hotels over the years, I consider Dunes Village the best of them all. Nothing but positives to say and we will be coming back next year. The staff was friendly and the resort was in great condition throughout.

Thank you for your kind words. We also believe we are the best on the beach, as do many others that stay with us. We have the only waterpark with slides that is completely indoors in the winter, and we were awarded the "Travelers Choice" award in the family category for 2012 by Trip Advisor.

We are happy to hear that we rate so high with you as well, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Nice trip for our group of 11, but here are a few things I think they need to address:

Room access keys - we were told at check-in the access keys cannot be placed near a cell phone or credit card because they will demagnetize the access card. This is very ODD to me because of ALL things for vacationers to take with them outside their room is their credit card and cell phone. I can't tell you how many times our access cards had to be reprogrammed. Dunes Village really needs to consider other ways to access your room. Great Wolf Lodge has a very creative way...maybe they should look into that.

Employees entering room without notice - My young daughter and I were startled from a nap around 2:30 when we heard a knock at the door. Before I could make it to the door, an employee walked right in and asked me about our room service. Talking LOUDLY too, mind you, with a young child asleep just a few feet away. This DID NOT sit well with me. Has Dunes Village ever heard of a PHONE. You should call next time FIRST.

Garbage disposal - Stopped up or just not very powerful.

Toilets - Hardly flushed

Bathroom faucets - So tight 8-11 year old children couldn't turn them on or off. Need to loosen!

Room - We rented a 2 bedroom condo which sleeps a maximum of 8 people. The interesting thing is there wasn't room from 8 people to sit in the "living room area." There were 3 chairs around a table, a sofa, and a side chair. They need to make sure they can accomodate the maximum number of people allowed to stay in the room. Having to use chairs from the balcony was a little inconvienent.

Before I book next time I will certainly check other higher ranked hotels in the area.

This is a first class resort; extra clean, all of the employees were extremely friendly and helpful; the properties are maintained constantly; I can't say enough positive things. We've stayed at many, many places over the years when visiting Myrtle Beach and this is by far the nicest place we have stayed.

We just returned from this resort. We have stayed there about 8 times since 2007. Unfortunately, I am not pleased with the condition of the resort anymore. When we arrived, our room was dirty. When I moved the coffee table to pull out the sofa bed, there was food and crumbs under the table. There was urine all over the bottom of the toilet. The floors were so dirty, my child's feet stayed black the entire time. The mold in the bathroom caused my 5 year old to have a terrible allergic reaction. We had to make a trip to the drug store to get her additional medicine so that she would not have a complete anaphylactic reaction. The management was of no help. Adam [--] is a complete joke of a manager. He has zero concern for the guests!! Unfortunately, this used to be our favorite place to stay at Myrtle Beach, but after this trip, we will not be returning. It saddens me to see a resort go downhill like this one. We stayed in the newer tower, the Palm Tower in hopes that the condition would be better. Maybe if management had a little more concern over the property, this would not be happening. My family will not be returning. So unfortunate!!

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at Dunes Village Resort. I am sorry to hear that your vacation was not a repeat of the last 7 wonderful times you have spent here. We need to hear where our shorcomings are from a guests perspective, and we appreciate your candor.

Our Housekeeping Director has been doing a bit of house cleaning of her own, so to speak, in hopes of situations like yours not recurring. From your past experiences, you know this is not the way we run our resort. Cleanliness is a top priority for us. Look at the many other reviwes that state how well kept we are.

I do hope you reconsider giving us another chance to show you the Dunes Village Resort you have come to know and love. If you would like to discuss this further, I can be reached at 843.449.5275 extension 4035.

Really enjoyed our trip. The only thing I have to complain about is the carpet in the room was dirty. And there was no coffee for the coffee maker. Loved the big bathroom. A nice place to stay. The view was nice even being a side view.

Room Tip: 7th or 8th floor is best views.

Great location, wonderful views, clean rooms, friendly staff, great customer services made for a wonderful trip. Water parks were great and we were able to use even when it stormed. The attendants at the water parks were friendly and helpful. Would stay again for sure. Oh and kid friendly while catering to the adult as well.

Room Tip: south side has a great view of fireworks almost every evening along with a nice view of the ocean. h...

We are so glad to hear how wonderful your stay at Dunes Village Resor wast. The views are stunning, the water parks are full of fun, and the staff is the best on the beach!

With tons to do throughout the resort, kids from 3 to 83 have professed to enjoying their time here, so we will agree with your statement of "kid friendly while catering to the adult as well." We believe that if the children are happy, then mom and dad and grandma and grandpa will be too.

We can't wait until you can get back here again. Hope it will be soon! See you then!

great location; nicely decorated, clean rooms. great water parks. excellent, very courteous staff. Admiral's room serves a great breakfast but best to go earlier to avoid crowds. definitely for kids, given the multiple slides, daily activities, but adults can also enjoy the volleyball, ping pong, shuffleboard.

Room Tip: higher floors more quiet as oceanfront rooms overlook pools.
