“A little disappointed this time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2012

We have stayed here a few times before. This time we booked on-line for an angle oceanfront two bedroom. Please be aware that this is NOT oceanfront. We were three rows back. This is ocean view. I brought it to the attention of the ladies at the front desk and show them my confirmation showing angle oceanfront. They then proceeded to tell me that it was "ANGLE" oceanfront and not oceanfront. They were quite indifferent to my problem and somewhat argumentative and said that I could speak to a manager. I said that I would and spoke with Amos Jackson (I think the asst. manager), who unlike the ladies before was quite understanding and asked how I booked the room and I showed him my on-line confirmation. He said that he completely understood and that he had run into the issue before with people booking online. He offered to move us to an oceanfront room and even offered to help us move. He was excellent. So my review is somewhat of a mixed bag. Mr. Jackson/management was excellent but the front desk ladies were actually kind of rude and probably shouldn't be in the hospitality business. (One of there names was Susan) The facilities are excellent, very family oriented. I would probably go back but would not book on-line and would hope to not see those ladies again. They also need new mattresses.

Room Tip: Don't pick Angle oceanfront if you want oceanfront.

Thank you for taking the time to review Dunes VIllage Resort. I am sorry that you had trouble with your reservation not matching your expectations with regard to your room. Sometimes booking online can be a little daunting, as we have a nice variety of rooms to choose from. We are glad to hear that the next time you visit, you will be calling our reservations staff directly, as they are well versed in meeting the needs and desires of our customers. I am especially glad to hear that Amos was able to resolve this situation to your satisfaction. Amos is a true asset to Dunes VIllage Resort, and we are lucky to have him here.

Thanks again for the review. We hope you can come back soon!

my husband and i kept our 2 yo and 6 mt old grandsons at this hotel and it was perfect for our trip.all the staff must have been trained by anthony (the tv show hotel impossible) the man at the front desk, housekeeping, rebecca at the poolside tiki bar (which had killer yummy food) everyone was friendly, helpful and nice.the rooms were beautiful with high end furnishings, granite countertops.....they even made birds out of the washcloths! cute.so much to do,even on rainy days you can swim in multiple pools, float on the lazy rivers, play pool, ping pong, shuffle board...you will not be sorry if you stay here.i will be back

Room Tip: angle beach view had one whole wall of windows

Stayed in 1 bedroom condo with 2 kids
The good: Beach, waterpark, location
The bad: Old and bad furniture in the room, loudest washer and dryer in galaxy
The hotel did not meet expectations at all.

If you are looking for a great vaccation time with your family go to Dunes Village Resort! It has everything, full kitchen with stoves and fridge, putt putt, full size checkerboard and chess, ping pong, 2 outside bars, huge waterpark for all ages, several pools, lazy river and hot tubs. Cleanest hotel I have ever been. We just came back and we are already booking to go back in the next month or so. The staff is great and the food at the resturants are great! Breakfast Buffet is very worth it. Had lunch at the other resturant in the other location was great as well! Even if it rains, it dosn't matter you are covered with indoor fun and if it is sunny and worry about getting sunburn, stay inside at the water park and pools. Plus the beach is steps away. Greatest Place, trust me, go one time and you will be back again and again!

Room Tip: Ocean front is the best!

My wife and I stayed here with our 15 month old daughter and it was great. This was our daughters first trip to the beach, so we were hoping for a good experience. We researched a ton of places and went with Dunes, because of the reviews here on TA.
We stayed in the Palms tower (the newer of the two) and had an Angled Oceanfront room (2 bed/2 bath). When we called to make the reservation, we asked for a room in this building as the Angled Oceanfronts are not blocked by any other high rises ("Millionaires Row" is right next door - so it's all residential housing). While they couldn't guarantee a room, they were pretty accomodating in putting notes on our account to have a 4th floor or above room (which we had).
The room was a good size for us. The king bed was comfortable and the crib we rented (full size) fit between the beds in the second room. The bathroom in the king room was also good size.
The porch was accessible from the living room or the master bedroom. The view from the porch was great - saw plenty of beach. Would recommend trying to go up a little higher to avoid the road noise - but even that wasn't bad.
The full kitchen was good - not the newest appliances, but they definitely worked for the week we were there (the silverware and plates were a little lacking).
The waterparks were fun - everything is heated, which is great. Our daughter loved the lazy river and the outside pool. We tried the smaller, curved water slide a couple of times and she liked that too.
We did not try any of the food there, as we brought our own in a cooler.
The location is great - very close to Broadway at the Beach (about 10 minute drive) and the new Boardwalk (about 7 minute drive).
Staff was very friendly and accomodating. One night, there was a group of people (early 20s) who were drinking in the indoor lazy river, spilling beer in the water, and getting a little rowdy. We let the staff know and they took care of it immediately.
The one thing I would recommend is more clear directions on how to get to the beach/pool areas. The elevator to our room was on the Garage level. The path leading out went to the public beach access area (which isn't bad - brings you to the same area). But to get to the outdoor pool and walkway to the beach, you have to walk towards the laundry area, which when you're doing it, seems like you're going the wrong way.
Overall, this was a great place. I would absolutely recommend to friends and family and will probably try to stay there next year.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Palms tower are great (newer). Angled Oceanfront rooms on the 4th floor or higher have...

The staff are unbelievable nice. Clerk who checked us in at the front desk was very sweet as well as the ladies who ran the counter at the coffe shop.Thats about all I can say that's nice. The hotel itself is gross. The rooms are filthy as are the grounds. I was very surprised as I had been told that it was a nice place. Do yourselves a favor and stay at the Sheraton or Marriott. We checked out early.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

The Dunes Village Resort was much more than we expected. The 2 br condo fit our needs perfectly! My family didn't want to leave! The lazy river was perfect for my 3 & 6 yr olds. They can't swim, yet felt safe walking around the river and building their confidence! The staff is amazing! Every part of our stay here was perfect! We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: I don't think there could possibly be a wrong choice with this resort. Every room, staff, pools...
