“Awful service great location”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

Horrible customer service, nice location, unsafe parking garage that is way to small, spaces won't accommodate large vehicles, our car got hit Lazy, front desk staff, awesome friendly house keeping. Comfy beds.

Room Tip: You want to stay in the new tower, if at all. Lots of issues, I would not stay here again.

We actually a booked room at a different hotel via Priceline but the other hotel was overbooked so we were moved to this one. For a 2.5 star hotel our experience was good. It's is not really a family resort in our opinion but more a couples retreat place. Our room was a side ocean view, we wanted front view to watch sunrise and we were unable to bc we faced south... Room was specious and average clean. The air vents had black residue from condensation that was not cleaned off. Beds not a Sheraton quality but ok. The location of this hotel is great, right on the beach and close to everything! Housekeeping very friendly, front desk not so much.
The worst was breakfast! I have to say one of the worst we had while vacationing! Starting with the wait... the line was so long it wrapped around the entire dining area and out of the room to the hallway. The food was not good at all! We actually went down the 1st day and never came back!

We had previously stayed the last several years at the luxury Anderson Ocean Club next door to the Carolinian but gave this place a try after Hilton bought out most of the rooms at Anderson and Oceana Resorts not offering any early booking discount as they had for many straight years. The staff was wonderful, the room was clean, our view was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was a plus except the logistics of where to place the food itself as the lines back up tremendously. Everyone forms one line for the entire ordeal as everything is bunched up right next to each other. The juice/ coffee station should be separate as should the popular waffle station. Several times I would sit on line for at least 30 minutes before I was complete getting my food. I understand its the first year of the buffet but the buffet room needs to be revamped for it.

Now to some of the good. The golf was fantastic as you really cant beat a deal where you can play at any of one of 12 great golf courses for about $25.00. We played four times and was able to make a tee time with relative ease with the help of the staff who actually does the booking for you.

Other bad: The lighting in our one bedroom oceanfront room was terrible. One night stand light does not cut it to light an entire room. The closet where the safe is as equally dark as I had to shine my flashlight app to use it. The elevators were always wet and dirty. It appears that the housekeeping staff never cleaned the elevators themselves as you can see fingerprints everywhere all hours of the day. Also the elevators were a little batty at times going up then down or stopping at every floor when no one was there or the lights weren't lit up. No A/C in the elevators didn't help either. Other than some of the small things mentioned we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

For a large family trip this is a good place. We have stayed here twice while attending our kids' baseball or softball tournaments and for some reason it always ends up as the place the kids gather at. While I wanted to stay at the Marriott, this was the more practical hotel by far. Excellent parking options, including a valet, good porters and a decent breakfast that is included.

Check-in is a nightmare at this hotel, it has never gone smoothly for us and I doubt it will for anyone else, I just don't think they have their processes down with their cleaning people. The rooms are rarely ready on time as none of the 5 families staying this time had their rooms ready - and we all showed up AFTER 4 pm.

The rooms - we got a two bedroom suite both times - my suggestion is to get the suites on the South end of the hotel (we stayed in the tower both times) as they are larger. But, both were great, good kitchen (bring your own frying pan if you don't want your eggs to stick) and decent beds.

The maid service was inconsistent on timing but very lovely people who went the extra mile with us.

The Tower elevators (there are 3) were slow and crowded and oftentimes one of them was not working.

There is a towel service at the pools and it is right on the beach. The beach is excellent, lifeguards and chairs and umbrellas to rent - not crowded at all.

Overall, we had a good experience and would stay here again for the next tournament - our friends who stayed in condos may have saved some but the hassles of getting to the beach (and the crowds) made my choice look better each time.

Room Tip: For a suite - get the suites on the SOUTH end of the Tower.

My family and I have stayed at the BW Carolinian Suites portion of this hotel for the last few years. We just finished up another vacation there this past week. We stayed in room 534 which was a King Ocean View suite. The suite was large enough for our family of 4 and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint if I had one was that the room had no paper towels or dish liquid already equipped in the room and our clothes dryer took 5 hours the first day to wash some of our beach clothes and towels. The second day it stopped running altogether. Other than that, our room was clean and well appointed. One thing I liked is the effort this hotel is going to try to cut down on the "noise" factor that are common at Myrtle Beach hotels. We had a quiet stay! It is our hope that BW will keep this hotel up and maintained so that it will not become a casualty like some of the other hotels of its caliber. We will keep coming as long as they keep it clean, updated and well appointed.

Room Tip: 534 was a great ocean view room if you are not into being on the higher floors. My husband gets vert...

One of the best hotels I've stayed at in awhile. We checked in late Friday Night and Logan at the front desk was so helpful and awesome! The valet was a big help for us due to it raining late Saturday night and it was super cheap too. I give this hotel 2 thumbs up :)
