The location of the Dayton House Resort is solid--right on the beach, just a short walk from the majority of Myrtle Beach's Ocean Blvd strip of arcades and attractions. Unfortunately, the building itself has all the charm of an East German block house. The hallways are dim and a tad spooky, and the exterior of the building has a terrific plainness that stands out from some of the grander hotels surrounding it. Also, there are five buildings total, so finding your way from one place to another can be taxing.

Aside from that, the room itself was very charming, with a nice view of the ocean. I had no issues that needed attending to, and the staff was very welcoming. While it may not be the most upscale place in Myrtle Beach, it was a reasonable price for a great location, and I think that that counts for something.

Room Tip: Make sure to double check for "Ocean View" rooms is you want a... y'know... view of the ocean.

Stayed here for one night "off season" The staff here were very helpful and friendly ... a great location right on the beach a short walk to the sky wheel / boardwalk ... Rooms were very nice, with a balcony and really really comfortable beds.

Comfortable bed and nice beach view. Got low rate from Hotwire so it was worth it. Parking not great...had to walk across street to building. Don't go to the breakfast place they recommend...( uncle johns ) it was really nasty food.

Stayed two nights on drive back from Fla to NY. Decent place for the money. The oceanfront suite had a great view (the 30 degree temp was not great). Very pleasant and courteous staff. Bev at the front desk was great. Forgot to thank her for her service to our country - Thanx Bev!

It's not top shelf, and there was some construction going on, but that's what happens in the off season.

We stayed in ocean front older registration building.. It was updated and totally perfect. So nice that we stayed an extra 3 days. We even called our daughter and had her come down. She stayed in one of the taller/newer building but ours room was as nice and she had side view. Front staff so efficient and welcoming. We needed help with changing the language on our tv and they sent some right up. He is an asset to their organization nice and polite and had it fixed quickly.

Room Tip: Restaurant is within walking distance and you get 10% off. Stay ocean front
