“Great location . . . awful mattress”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2010

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Bay View Resort in Myrtle Beach. The City of Myrtle Beach is finishing up on the mile long board walk. It is wonderful. My husband and I were able to safely walk the 4 blocks from our hotel to the old Pavilion area. I don't know how long it has been since anyone visited MB but it was really getting run down. The board walk and other stuff in the planning stages should really help bring MB back to being a great place for families. The Bay View Resort is a good place to stay. They have a parking garage across the street and you have to use your room key to enter. They have a very small indoor pool and lazy river. No outside pool. And with the new board walk and landscaping don't ever see them having one. We had a 2 bedroom unit. One bedroom had its own private entrance. Very clean. The only complaint I had was the mattress. It was the worst I have ever slept on.

I normally do not write negative reviews about hotels, and perhaps my stay was based on the fact that it was Spring Break for high schoolers, but we had a terrible experience at the Bay View. When we arrived our room was not ready, even though we were allowed to check in, so we dropped our stuff off and left. That's not a big deal. However, when I wanted to take a shower after using the pool, I realized that there was no shower curtain. We got one the next morning, which was fine, but you'd think that someone would have noticed it missing.

The room was really small- we were in the corner of the hotel and although it had a coffee pot, it didn't come with any coffee. There was barely enough room for our suitcase in the room. The elevators took forever so I walked up the stairs most of the time.

It was Spring Break and the hotel was a mad house. Kids were running around out of control, there was a party going on in the room next to us, the pools were packed, it was chaos and definitely felt like a free for all. We wound up not staying the second night and just drove home. I will never stay here again.

Our recent stay at the Bay View was very enjoyable. From the swimming pools and lazy river to the beach front views. And nothing beats a hot coffee from Starbucks every morning!

Well we can not vouch for the rooms but we were upgraded for free to a 2 bedroom suite because there was a problem with the room we had booked, so we ended up paying $41 for a luxury suite with a balcony facing the beach.

The Hotel has a Star Bucks attached to it and a great exercise room as well as a Pool, we would stay there any day again, the North Beach is beautiful.

This was not our first stay at the Bayview. This time we had a 2 Bedroom "lockout" unit on the 7th floor that was wonderful!! Lots of privacy. The Oceanfront bedroom had a comfortable King Bed. We had a full kitchen with granite countertops and full size appliances. Having a Washer and dryer in the condo was great. The resort was busy but we did not hear any noises from other units.
Bayview is right on the new Boardwalk and there is a good restaurant, Sharkey's, right beside the resort. Starbuck's in on the ground floor of Bayview.
The front desk staff and housekeeping were very friendly and helpful. We had no problems with the elevators (as some of the prior posts indicated) and check-in was quick. Will definitely be back.

Viewed this hotel and pictures on-line and called to talked with a reservationist on the phone before booking. She assured me that this was a nice, newer hotel and that we wouldn't be dissapointed. The hotel was said to be three years old, but upon arrival and entrance in our room looked more like 13 years old! Pools were full of clouded, dingy water, and the area around the pools was very slippery. Towels were not kept stocked at the pool-so take your own. We stayed in a two bedroom condo. The beds were comfortable, however the comforters were dated. The cleanliness of the pool itself left alot to be desired. Dirty corners in bathrooms, floor not clean around the curtains that come to the floor, toliet rocks back and forth, ect... This is a large hotel - I believe it has 18 floors. When we arrived there were two working elevators, a couple of days during our stay there was only one elevator that was working. That was horrible, much of our time was wasted simply waiting for the elevator. We decided to extend our stay, but choose to pack-up and move to another hotel for the remainder of our time at the beach.

The hotel is a decent hotel that looks like it went through a recent remodel of at least the lobby. The layout is strange and you enter in through the elevator/pool area to get into the hotel. The hotel is not in the best part of Ocean Blvd. It is surrounded by older rundown motels. The type that advertise by the week vs. night-really. However the hotel was clean and had good security. You needed a key card to get into the hotel and parking areas. Their were no strange people hanging around the building. We had an oceanview condo which gave you two small balconies showing you a glimpe of the beach and a view of the street. The first room they gave me smelled like fish so they switched me to another. Only one of 3 elevators worked so expect long waits. They said they were working on it and when I checked out none of them were working but they said they hoped to have them fixed soon. They will also try to sell you a timeshare, if you go to pick up your special gift. So expect it. The room was in pretty good shape. The fit and finish is average and the materials are just average not high end. Don't expect flat screens and jacuzzi bathtubs. It was clean but starting to show some wear and tear but nothing to complain about. The kitchen had granite countertops and clean tile floors. The carpet in the sitting area was thin and older and will need to be replaced soon but livable. I only paid 65 dollars with tax for the room compared to rooms this size down the strip would go for 100-200 per night and not necessarily be any better. This hotel has a ton of activity and kids everywhere but all seemed to be well behaved. It is right on the beach and near a boardwalk which is being built as we speak. It looks like it will be nice. Overall the hotel was clean as well as the rooms and for the money you really cant beat it. The parking is a little farther off than I would like but it is lit well and in a locked parking structure. If you are going to Myrtle beach for the beach or for golf and not going to be in the room the entire time this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for plush luxury then pay more and go down the strip a little further. We only stayed one night to catch a flight but I did complain my glass slider had a broken lock.
