Enjoyed the room we were in (I believe these units are individually owned, and we happened to get a nice one), but they need to make some improvements on the property. The building was without electric for almost 6 hours one day due to repairs being made, and the only notification was a paper sign on the front door...no staff contacted guests in advance and even gave a guesstimate as to how long it would be. As a result, we had to schlep up and down 7 floors most of the day. The stairwells are very narrow and completely unsafe in a loss of power situation as practically none of the emergency lighting was working...it was pitch black. We had to go to the underground garage to get a flashlight from our car and nearly killed ourselves getting there. Couldn't see the hand in front of your face, so unsafe! Definitely not up to code, which makes you wonder about other aspects of the property.

The St. Clements pool needs some work too and the pool bar there was closed the entire time (in August).

Overall, we would stay here again for the right price and the same room. It was nice to be at the northern end of the beach too as you're not in the middle of a billion people, maybe only a million. ;)

Stayed in the St Clements tower on the 7th floor Aug. 14th-18th. Experience at check-in was very good and the room met our expectations. Over all, the building location, room staff, etc also met our expectation and we were happy.

Power to the building was interrupted for the entire day on Friday, 8/16 while the electrical service cables feeding the building were replaced. Fortunately since the outside temperature was in the upper 70s, the room stayed comfortable. Ice was not obtainable all day as the ice machine was down and we were a bit concerned about food stored in our refrigerator. We were forced into climbing up and down seven flights of stairs for the entire day since the elevator was out during the power loss. Not exactly what we had in mind for a nice stay at the beach. While there was a paper note on the building entrance stating the possibility of "temporary power outage" no-one at the front desk mentioned it at check-in even though this had to be a scheduled outage.

!! The real problem is that almost none of the emergency stairwell lighting was working which meant that we were left to navigate the stairs in the pitch black all day long. Maybe three out of eight floors had lighting in the stairwells at all and by the end of the day none of them were working. This was a hazard and a serious inconvenience at the least. We complained to the front desk and they discounted us $30 for that day's rate but if nothing is done to fix the emergency lighting problem and there is some kind of an emergency in that building someone could easily be killed!! As I mentioned to the front desk at the time. "It seems like no big deal and maybe an inconvenience until a tragedy happens. One call to the County Fire Marshall's office and the place would be shut down temporarily until the problem was corrected.

I would strongly recommend that the management ensure that their maintenance program be followed correctly and in the future if a project is undertaken while the building is occupied that an actual plan be used.. sheesh!!

I liked the updates to the St. Clements including the lobby and the new washers and dryers. I would like it better if people at the outside cafe could not smoke on the side with the pool. People
cannot eat without the smell and people at the pool have to breath in the smell. I am very
allergic to cigarettes and it really bothers me.

The room was pretty mediocre and could use some updating. Things were not cleaned to perfection by any means. However, the room was cozy and we absolutely loved the view from our room and balcony. Beach access is close and convenient. Like the pool and being able to use Carravelle amenities. Overall enjoyable stay. Would stay again, but try to get a private owned room if possible.

We stayed in the St. Clements building. You could tell it was an older building, but it was very clean. There was some mold in the bathroom around the shower door. After calling the front desk, someone came straight up and removed all the caulking then cleaned it all up. She told me she would have maintenance replace the caulking and to call if we needed anything else. Our room was spacious, even with 3 kids. The appliances in the kitchen were very much outdated. The stove looked at least 20 yrs old, but it was clean. We had a great view of the ocean. I loved the small pool. There is a nice poolscape next door at the main hotel with a lazy river, hottub, kiddie splash pool, and swimming pool, but it stayed crowded and you could never get a chair. We never had trouble getting a chair at the smaller pool and it had a wonderful view of the ocean. It was the perfect spot for the kids to swim and parents to get some sun! It also gave us a chance to meet other families in our building. I would definately stay here again!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Myrtle Beach last week. This was my first trip to Myrtle Beach so I was super excited! We had originally booked a hotel further south, but then checked out immediately (dirty, rude staff). Needless to say by this point in time we were very upset, tired (after traveling for 12 hours), and angry. We fortunately found the Caravelle online and luckily they had a room available for 5 nights, after the awesome staff switched some things around to help us out! When we walked in the lobby, Jay and Johana, were just the staff we needed at that time to turn our vacation around for the better. They were VERY friendly and accommodating. They took the time out of their busy night to give us recommendations of take out food and show us the room before we officially booked it! As if that wasn't enough, they gave us a complimentary breakfast! They both went above and beyond.
When we checked into our room in the st clements building, it was clean and comfortable. We felt as though we were right at home with a great view of the ocean! Throughout the week, the entire staff continued to go above and beyond their duties from holding the doors to answering questions in passing; all with a smile!

Our stay at the Caravelle truly turned our vacation from bad to good! We will def. go back there; we are even considering purchasing a room! That is how much we loved it!

Room Tip: The St. Clements Building has an AWESOME view of the ocean and is close to an outside bar and one of...
