My family and I stayed here for a week through our timeshare Bluegreen. It was our first time to this resort but we have been in the area many times before. The place was in perfect condition. Well taken care of. The resort was very clean and well-manicured. After unloading in the parking garage unloading area, we checked in. however, only one of our 2 rooms were ready. So we all dropped our luggage off in the one room and decided to check out the beach while we waited for the other one to be ready. We knew when we booked it that the resort is actually across the street and not directly on the beach. We thought that wouldn’t bother us. But once we made the walk, we quickly realized that we prefer the beach resorts better. No real reason other than purely our preference. It is a small walk but you do cross the busiest road in MB. If you forget anything or have to make many trips back and forth to your room, just be ready for some serious hiking. Could get pretty tiring after a while.
Resort says you get to use the property across the street directly in front of the Carolina Grande and that they have a lazy river. Don’t be fooled. That hotels pool and “lazy river” were nothing more than a kiddie pool and a small 20 x20 square pool with a few jets pushing some tubes around in a circle. If anything, it’s a lazy river for 3-5 year olds only. So count on using your pool more than that one. Carolina Grande did have a great pool. It is located on top of the 7th floor and has an amazing view of MB and Main Street. Very clean and warm. Other than the pool there wasn’t much else at the resort compared to other resorts.
Rooms were great. Very large and spacious. Excellent décor which was all new and updated. You can tell the resort was newly upgraded with new furniture and appliances. Washer and dryer were great along with a full stove and oven. No complaints at all on the rooms. They too were clean and we had no issues with water pressure or not enough hot water. Everything you could ever want or need was in the room. Wouldn’t change a thing!
Beach was great as well. Only compliant we had was fighting for beach space as it fills up quick. Each morning between the many people going out early and saving beach space combined with the local chair and umbrella dealers setting up rented spots, it left very little beach space. You had to get out there early and really stake your claim. Otherwise, you were left with sitting right on top of others and feeling like they were a part of your group. No cool. Plus, if you wanted to use an umbrella you had to stay behind the lifeguards which kept over 75% of the beach free. That’s only a quarter of the entire beach for people to lie out on. Understand it’s a safety thing and allows for lifeguards to have a great vision of the beach, but doesn’t make it any easier to find a spot.
Overall, I would recommend this place. Couples, families, retirees would all have a great time here. Again, biggest think to consider is your amount of travel from beach to hotel room. If it’s frequent, you might want to look somewhere else. Otherwise, this is a hot spot for some summer fun!
