“Wonderful week before hurricane Sandy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

We stayed at the Carolina Grande October 22 - 26, enjoying the warm weather and Myrtle Beach accomodations. We had a three bedroom, two bath suite. While the suite and hotel in general was clean and attractively decorated, we did notice several dark stained/worn areas on the nain area's carpeting, mold on the second bathroom's ceiling, as well as worn looking elevator floors and walls. Noise from the unit next door was a problem three nights in a row, between midnight and 130AM, which was annoying to say the least. We could see the ocean from our balcony on the 16th floor, but also had to deal with somewhat long waits for the elevators. I heard one sales rep. explaining they have no freight elevator so that housekeeping, and other support staff have to use the same elevator as guests which causes delays. One morning while riding the elevator down to the lobby, it was stopped by housekeeping on the second floor and I was made to stand and wait in elevator while the lady swept and mopped out the elevator floor around me - strange! The front desk staff offered us discounted tickets to a local attraction but, after 15 minutes of waiting, still couldn't get their computer to work and provide us with the tickets - we left without them. The staff DID give us beach chairs for the asking, suggestions on good places to eat and grocery shop as well as were very friendly and courteous in the hallways and on the grounds. As the ocean is across the street, a quick five minute walk through a parking lot entry and board walk gets you to the beach. The location was great, right on Ocean Blvd, near stores, restaurants, etc. Would go back next week if I could (and the hurricane is gone). They listed activities for guests each day but honestly, I chose to enjoy the sunshine, ocean and sandy beach instead.

I will start by saying that this is a Bluegreen property and I am a Bluegreen owner. Having said that, I find most Bluegreen properties to be very well maintained and the staff well trained. This was no exception. The hotel is right on North Ocean Blvd very close to many restaurants. It is also just a short drive to Broadway at the Beach, if that interest you. It is not beach front, but just across the street from the beach. Smoe have complained about the parking garage but we had no issue during our week stay. We never had to go into the overflow lot and we werethere in prime time. There is the usual time share sell but I found it to be less pressure than at other places.

The rooms were spotless and well maintained. We had a s bedroom combined unit, which was basically two mirror image one bedroom units. The rooms were truly adjoining in thatt here was a door inside the unit, not just a shared hallway. Kitchen was well stocked, even had salt and pepper. The beds were very comfortable and there was no problem with noise. There are only 2 elevators, but I have stayed inplaces with much slower elevators. These were not an issue. There is even a small market off the lobby. The pool is small but never got really crowded and there is plenty of seating room and lots of chairs. It was a very enjoyable week.

Great location, staff is very helpful. Nice accommodations and they had everything in the apartment - even paper towels. We would come back. Elevators are very slow but then we were on holidays and there was no rush.

Room Tip: We stayed in 1606 and the view was very nice

The Good- The Location, the Room, the View, the Location and the Room, Beds were great too. And the location! and the room!

The Bad- The carpet and its a timeshare

1st- its a timeshare. Don't buy a timeshare from the resort. EVER

This is the BEST hotel I've been in. Ever. Its location is AWESOME. 1 block from the beach, great staff, great room, amazing view. We had me, my 2 yo, 9 mo and my wife, and it was great. Close to everything that matters (shopping and entertainment).

The carpets were very dirty, but no dirtier than Embassy or Marriots. In their defense, they would have sent someone up there to clean them, but you have to be in the room when they do, and we didn't have the time.

Not only did we love it, we thought about buying a timeshare there. THOUGHT ABOUT. But did not :). Again, never buy a timeshare from the resort. IF you get the yen, go on Ebay, buy it there.

Strongly recommend to all Bluegreen owners. Recommend for everyone else who can sit through a sales pitch and not buy a timeshare.

Room Tip: 3 bedrooms have the best views!

Stayed at CG for a week while attending a seminar for work. The accommodations were good, the people at the desk were helpful, and the Bluegreen activities person was pleasant. She understood that I was not untested in the Owner update and did not push the issue too far. As an owner it was refreshing to speak to someone who understood that sales are one thing and enjoying my stay was more important. The late night noise from street level was a bit distracting, but when I went into my room and closed the door I had no trouble sleeping. Overall it was enjoyable.

Also need to provide pool furniture for guests who have physical limitations. The chaise lounges are hard to get up from if you have back or knee problems. Shorecrest has some chaise that have an extension for the legs and is easier to get up from.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2012 via mobile

My boyfriend and I spent June 15-22 here and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. We were gifted with a week time share stay and while this was not our first choice while looking, we were pleasantly surprised and glad everything led us here. The service was good and even accommodated our early flight in and arranged for an early check in. We received a call and my boyfriend had only mentioned in passing our flight came in early and the woman noted she would see what she could do. While I'm sure we just got lucky, it was a great help.

The hotel is literally a 3 minute walk across the street to the beach, which was convenient. We still had a view of the ocean from our balcony, and were not particularly bothered by obstructions of the beach front hotels.

The room was nice and spacious for both of us-but just be aware the washer and dryer are the usual "apartment included" space savers so you really can only fit 4 beach towels at a time. We were prepared for this and it didn't bother us; however if you have more than two people it's something good to know. The room included many things and we only needed to purchase our food.

The parking garage is the first 5 floors and fills up fast-especially since we were here during high season. They do have an overflow parking lot behind the hotel (access code garage). We never had to use it, but if you have a larger car it is going to be a tight squeeze, so be prepared to test your parking skills

There are only two elevators, and as others have written they can be slow. Our only suggestion is to just bear with it because it can be anywhere from a quick 2min wait to 15-20mins. We only had to wait long when moving our luggage up and down. And as a fair warning, get a luggage cart the night before-they will be gone fast! My boyfriend just had a passing thought to grab one and thank goodness we did. Unfortunately, one of the elevators was broken when we checked out, so we had to use the stairs to get our luggage down from 14 to 5 (we got impatient and there was a group in front of us waiting for the elevator and had at least lots of stuff), but things break so we couldn't do much about it. We only had two suitcases and bags since we flew, but if you have more items, it will be a bit of a wait if there are already people on the elevators.

Otherwise we truly enjoyed our relaxing stay and it was a great vacation!!
