You can swim, fish (off the pier without a license - small fee) walk the beach for miles, or just enjoy the sand and sun. There are also walking trails and a deck with tables/umbrellas to catch a bit of shade on a really hot day. This is a gem!

We love going to the beach from the State Park. Easy access and never really crowded. You can stroll or sit and watch the waves.

We walked out on the pier and took one of the trails back to the pond. There are quite a few pavilions available to rent and a nature center for the kids. They were doing some remodeling, so it should be even better when they are done.

The park is mediocre at best, and we were a bit disappointed to find we had to pay a fee to be admitted to a state park. As travelers from Pennsylvania we are not used to paying to enter a state park as PA state parks are paid for by State taxes and free to all visitors. We won’t be going back again as it was nothing special.

I like the seclusion you get on the beach, no hotels and stuff. The beach has before dirty with horse manure though. It's not just in the park, but the adjacent beaches as well at Myrtle Beach, but since you do have to pay to get in, I would except clean beaches.
