I have been going to this place for about 20 years because my grandparents have a timeshare. It was wonderful back then. There are lots of pictures from past trips that show Ocean Villas in its former glory. Sadly the maintenance fees continue to increase but the care and upgrades to the units have not. The bathrooms, sheets, and dishes are always dirty when we get there. We usually spend the first hour just scrubbing the place and doing a load of laundry before we feel comfortable unpacking or using anything. I am not anal about cleaning, but you expect much better from a hotel. Considering the cost, it would be great if Wi-Fi were included at this point but it comes at an additional fee and if your room is too high you can forget having any signal strength. The location is the only good thing about it. It only takes us a few minutes to walk the next block over to the beach and most of the major attractions are within a 30 minute drive plus there are some great fishing places a little further. I definitely would not book this place for my own vacation, but some of the hotels around this one are worth the money and comparable in price. Also, is it really that much trouble to have a tv in the back room? The occasional rainy or lazy day inside would be more enjoyable with the option of relaxing with a movie in bed!

I knew we were in trouble when there was a hole in the plaster beside our door. Had to pay $10 per week to get Internet access in ONE room only. Bathroom disgustingly filthy. The bedroom was cloying and the large cabinet smelled like mildew when I opened it. Old fashioned furnishings including the stove and dishwasher. This was not a resort week - it was the week from filthy hell! Our bath mat got stuck under the door of the shower room. When I pulled out the mat, something nasty and brown filth was under the door and it ruined the bathmat. My dog's vet is cleaner than this hellish place. NEVER AGAIN! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Ocean Villas is not the best resort around, in that the furnishings and the amenities are neither the newest nor the plushest, yet for holiday lodgings (in the British sense of the word), this place is GREAT! It is in what many - including me - believe is the nicest section of ocean front Myrtle Beach just a long block off of the water. Many would consider the fact that the property and its units are not direct oceanfront to be a real negative, but in this instance it really isn't. The neighborhood is really pleasant, and the view of the newer high rise hotels across the street is interesting and pleasing to the eye. Ocean Boulevard in front of the building can be busy and somewhat noisy by day, but it quiets right down when evening comes.

The 1 BR 1.25 Bath Unit that sleeps 6 is fair sized, with a comfortable queen bed in the bedroom, and a just as comfortable murphy bed in the living room. While the furniture, appliances and furnishings are older they are more than adequate if what you are looking for is a comfortable housekeeping accommodation for your beach holiday.

The pool and Jacuzzi are not overcrowded and quite pleasant. Parking is ample and convenient, and the staff is unobtrusive (no 'update invitation' calls). There are no activities to speak of, but who needs activities at the beach anyway. For those who want to continue a fitness regimen while at the beach, guests have access to the Dunes Health Club just across the street.

Two minor annoyances - no TV in the bedroom, and limited wifi (in the office so not all units get a strong signal) that costs $10 for the week.

Room Tip: Outside rooms on the higher floors have an ocean view

Quiet, easy access, not on a busy, noisy street. Nice ample parking spaces. I had called and left a message requesting a high floor three weeks prior to our stay. When I came in the office and gave them my name, the lady lit up and said, "Oh yes, I got your message and have placed you on the 8th floor"....nice. Nice pool, hot tub, clean area with bathrooms on site. That is a plus with kids or grandkids!!
Ocean is across the street, but many easy access spots. Great restaurants nearby and plenty of shopping. Very convenient...would definitely stay there again!!

Room Tip: We liked the higher floors to see the ocean and at night the lights down the street were so beautiful!!

Stayed in unit 1205 (on the top floor, ocean view): nicely renovated unit with brand new renovated washrooms and a great view! Very clean and bright, and close to many restaurants, shopping, and most importantly, the beach! Access to the beach is directly across the road. This is a family-owned condo (no timeshares here!) and it appears to be really well taken care of. Great view of the sunset from the balcony. The rental was really easy to arrange through Condolux (the rental company).

I'd return in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: We stayed in #1205 - had a great view because it was on the top floor. I also got to see #503 which is another nicely-renovated unit, but it doesn't have the ocean view as it is several floors lower.
