On the positives, service could not have been more attentive, ambience was great. Comfortable setting, live music that was muted so it enhanced the atmosphe without interfering with conversation was another plus.. The wine list also had an excellent $30 Bordeaux. The portions were also quite generous. That said, we were over all disappointed with the cooking. We were hoping to experience inspired cooking, and it wasn't. First, our appetizers (snails and green fried tomatoes) appeared about 5 minutes after we placed the order. It was shockingly quick, they must have already been under the heat lamp. The fried tomatoes were quite good, the snails did not have much taste, although they were big and juicy. Our entrees also appeared startlingly quickly. We had stuffed flounder and veal aspen. Like the snails, they just didn't seem very inspired. The grits and potatoes were good, but the flounder looked sad and neither it nor the crab had much taste. The veal was also just a piece of grilled meat, rather dull. Conclusion- nice place, but don't expect to be wowed by the kitchen.

First time at the Aspen Grill. Excellent food selection ranging from seafood, steak, chicken, veal. I had the Veal Aspen that included a veal filet, broiled scallops, and grilled shrimp on a bed of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus and sauce. Quality was excellent, very tasty. Good atmosphere and service. Hope to return during my next visit to Myrtle Beach.

Our last night at the beach we decided to try this restaurant. It will be the first night out next time we're there!
They were friendly and helpful on the phone when we called for a reservation.
The table is set with crisp white cloths and spotless silverware and glasses.
Our server was helpful and attentive without being intrusive. All the staff is friendly and attentive. The live pianist, who played for the nearly two hours we were there, was a wonderful addition to the relaxing atmosphere.
Our meals were delicious and good sized. We had crab cakes and duck breast. The crab cakes were tender jumbo lump meat and the duck breast was perfect, both came with two sides.
Our meal was no more expensive than an awful restaurant we'd been to a week before.
Here, though, you get value for the cost of the meal.
We are looking forward to returning to the Aspen Grille on our visit next year. Don't miss it.

My wife and I went to the Aspen Grille with another couple. It's an oasis of fine dining in an area that is primarily downscale from an eating standpoint. Every entree was outstanding...duck, scallops, ribeye, and the 4th in our party told the waitress to simply let the chef decide. The service was 100% accommodating, making any change we asked for, not hovering, but always attentive. This place would fit in in any major city in the country and do well. No question a place to visit again.

The most amazing dinner, I had the hog snapper and ate every bite. Unless you count the one my husband stole. My husband enjoyed his as well, for desert we shared the apple bread pudding. Love everything beginning to end. Elliott was great.
