On the positives, service could not have been more attentive, ambience was great. Comfortable setting, live music that was muted so it enhanced the atmosphe without interfering with conversation was another plus.. The wine list also had an excellent $30 Bordeaux. The portions were also quite generous. That said, we were over all disappointed with the cooking. We were hoping to experience inspired cooking, and it wasn't. First, our appetizers (snails and green fried tomatoes) appeared about 5 minutes after we placed the order. It was shockingly quick, they must have already been under the heat lamp. The fried tomatoes were quite good, the snails did not have much taste, although they were big and juicy. Our entrees also appeared startlingly quickly. We had stuffed flounder and veal aspen. Like the snails, they just didn't seem very inspired. The grits and potatoes were good, but the flounder looked sad and neither it nor the crab had much taste. The veal was also just a piece of grilled meat, rather dull. Conclusion- nice place, but don't expect to be wowed by the kitchen.
