What a pleasant surprise we encountered when out for an evening stroll on the Boardwalk ocean front in MB. While making our way to the 2nd Pier (see that review), we came across this backyard setting of tables, $1 beers and a band setting up under a tent. We attended to our intended destination, only to leave within the hour and return to what we knew was going to be a good time. Upon sitting in one of the many outside patio tables the waitress attended to our needs. We enjoyed people watching and both adults and kids playing "Corn Hole", a game similar to horseshoes. While enjoying our beers, we were unexpectedly approached by a truly happy, warm hearted individual, who is the epitome of Myrtle Beach hospitality.
Karen, as it turns out is the co-owner of Hammerhead Grill along with her husband Kyle and they make it a point to talk to all newcomers and regulars alike.
We were taken aback by her spitfire energy and huge knowledge of the MB area including great places to dine ( Thanks Karen...we had dinner at Lee's in Murrells Inlet tonight ) and Kyle the Broiled seafood platter was amazing.
These two people are what being a restaurant owner is all about...the customer...our drinks never ran dry, food that we ordered was delicious and plentiful and at the end of the night they even offered to drive us as both myself and my G/F had one too many.
We declined the offer of the drive home to our rented condo, however Karen assisted us in securing a taxi which she did not need to do...she went out of her way to make us feel like family...
We are going back tomorrow ( Saturday ) to have another great night of drinks and food...The cook/chef at this establishment is amazing and the grouper on a bun is outstanding.
This location offers the views and the laid back backyard party atmosphere we were looking for. The band playing was outstanding and played all well known tunes keeping the night flowing. Dancing was optional and several couples and individuals alike kicked up their heels.
To Karen and Kyle thanks for making your Canadian friends feel like family....Cheers
