We bought our time share at the Marriott Ocean Watch and have no regrets. It's right on the water and the beach is fantastic. The only problem with the beach is that the life guards rent umbrella's, so they do not permit you to put up your own umbrella in front of the ones they rent.

The place is beautiful and well maintained. Very clean with all of the comforts of home = plus the beach. And there is plenty to do in the area. Some really great restaurants and golf too.

Room Tip: Get an ocean front view if you can.

Need to relax by the water and be pampered?? Go to Myrtle Beach and stay at the Marriott Oceanwatch Villas! We are timeshare owners here and we just have to say how happy we have been over the years with this place and location. We stay in a 2 bedroom unit with full kitchen and 2 full baths, plus a living room. Overlooking the pool and the ocean! Each day we were greeted by the sunshine glistening off the water. Walk on the beach, which is endless! You can walk for miles. Find the most beautiful shells you've ever seen. Live music at the pool every day. There's a pool bar with food and drink. The neighborhood is gorgeous. It's safe for bike riding, walking, running. The location is close to everything you could need or imagine - restaurants, entertainment, movies, malls, shops, water sports. This place is great!

Room Tip: If an ocean view is important ask for oceanfront or ocean view rooms. We actually stayed on the first floor this time - pool view and partial water view and that was great, too.

We really enjoyed our villa, the pool area and restaurants, the beaches which were clean and just lovely.

September is perfect for going to Myrtle Beach.

The only thing missing was one or two restaurants closeby. Though we did enjoy the tranquility of the location.

We found out when we got here this is a hurricane proof resort and thus there is NO CELL PHONE SERVICE inside. Had to go onto the patio to call family and
give them phone number and room number of resort. Major inconvenience to many people. Then of course I couldn't get emails either. I brought the iPad which is Verizon capable but couldn't get it connected in resort wifi which is AT&T after having 3 people in the room, one telling me there was something wrong with my iPad, not! The 3rd one called AT&T and rep explained they use a different network here and I had to switch a setting. Then voila ! Internet, but the cell phone thing will never happen indoors.

My feeling is they should put this on their website. A lot of pretty mad business people here. It's ok if you want to get away from cell and email on vacation but most of us can't do that.

Other than that, rooms are great. All 2 bedroom with a balcony. Several pools and hot tubs. Bar is great, servers are friendly. I would avoid summer school season if possible. Heard there are not enough deck chairs and they had problems.

Beach is great. I recommend renting chairs and an umbrella. This is run by the city and price goes down the more days you rent but they have to be consecutive days. You get the same location and they put a reserved sign on it with your name so no one else can use it. Also can charge to your room so no need to take cash or credit cards to. Each.

There is a real nice Lowes supermarket just a couple miles from here. We stocked up for the week. Nice to sit on the patio for breakfast in your pjs.
Lots of grills here too.
If you can deal with the no-cell service indoors, I reco this resort because of great facilities, indoor pool, nice gym and the beach.

Room Tip: We are owners but not at this resort. So they give the owners here the best rooms, which is usual. When we are in our home resort in FL they give us the best rooms first. It appears they did build this smartly and that none of thr master bedrooms, but.many of the guest bedrooms overlook the parking lot. If you can stand the noise of the pools ask for a room overlooking but not for me. If you end up in the back, they will take you in a golfcart anywhere you want except the beach is because its public.

I have stayed in 3 of the buildings at Ocean Watch and each two bedroom villa has been great. Marriott does a get job taking care of their guests. Plenty of activities to do at the resort…grilling, shuffleboard, corn hole, bocce ball, pool. Next door the Marriott hotel has hammocks and a ping pong table.
Ocean Watch is convenient to both Broadway and Barefoot Landing. The pools are heated and the hot tubs are nice too.
If you are a Marriott timeshare owner or not, this is the place to stay. Especially if you want peace and quite away from the craziness of the boardwalk (unless you really want that “air brushed” tee shirt or tattoo), but still close to everything.
