Our family just got back from a week vacation at Ocean Lakes. We stayed in one of the houses close to the beach and had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the beach, pool area, mini golf, and playgrounds while we were there. The nature center was a cute little place with a very helpful curator that was willing to answer any question. Everything was within walking distance and it was easy to get around the large campground. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back!
The only downfall (not the campground's fault) was the very busy road right outside. There is a stop light but no crosswalk so you can't walk out of the campground to the local stores easily.

We have been coming to Ocean Lakes for 8 years - our family loves it. There is amazing security and I feel my children are very safe no matter where they go on the property. We will continue to come to OC for our family vacations.

We travel to Ocean Lakes Family Campground many times a year as we store our camper there and look forward to every visit! We bring our golf cart and enjoy riding the entire campground and sometimes even join in the nightly golf cart parade. Don't let "campground" fool you as it does include many camp sites, most with concrete pads, but also has permanent mobile homes and some very beautiful homes, an arcade and pool, snack bars, campground store, fishing ponds, skate park, camper sales and service. We truly love this place!

The one and only drawback is the beach. It has been drudged so many times that there is very limited beach area during high tide. During busy summer months, it can be a little tight on the beach and the beach slopes a little too much. But, that does not stop us from enjoying the beach.

If you are camping, the bath houses are very nice and each campsite is equipped with cable TV, water, sewer, and telephone, if needed. WiFi is also available. There is daily trash pick up and a great service department if your camper is in need.

If you are looking for a great place to camp or a beach rental home in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area, this is your place. It is generally packed in the summer months so if a crowd is not your thing, check them out September through May which are great months to enjoy the campground too.

Just returned from another great week at Ocean Lakes. This is the fifth year in a row that we have stayed there. Five years ago, we stayed there for the first time in a rental home that was privately owned because friends were camping there. Totally impressed and my wife stated that Ocean Lakes would be the only place from then on that we would stay at the beach. Oceanfront motels were our choices prior but no more, Ocean Lakes has the total package. Every rental home that we have reserved has been great. That speaks to the high quality of homeowners that rent their homes and the high quality of Ocean Lakes standards in who owns property there. Research the available homes for rent and pick a location or size of home that fits your needs. We stayed in a section toward the front and the area was cool and quiet which we were looking for, Ocean Lakes has everything you could want in a community setting. It is almost like a small town all by itself. Outdoor/indoor pools, an arcade, mini golf, basketball courts, volleyball courts, playground area, a convenience store, restaurants and a laundromat. You are given a guide book with policies/rules at the registration office. Turn on your TV and there is an Ocean Lakes information channel that tells you everything that you need to know about Ocean Lakes. There should be no confusion on what their policies/rules are. There is a billboard as you enter toward the campground area that posts activities for the family every day/night. Golf carts are essential to enhancing your experience. You can go anywhere in the complex by golf cart and riding at night is an experience in itself. Ride through the campground areas to look at the different size/types of campers and the unique lights that some campers put up. Ride through the home areas to see all the different size and style of homes that are there. Say hello to all the people you see wherever you ride. Everybody is friendly and appears to be enjoying themselves. There is a stretch of road that runs along the beach access from the house area to the far end of the camping area that is bumper to bumper with golf carts at night where people slap hands and play music. Lots of fun. If you don't want to get in this slow moving parade, simply avoid this area. The rest of the entire complex is available to ride around. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and said hello. The breakfast platters at Sandy's Meet and Eat were excellent. Soft biscuits, creamy grits, well scrambled eggs and meaty crisp bacon was as good as you would get at any breakfast restaurant. We stayed for seven days from the Tuesday prior to the Labor Day weekend until leaving on Labor Day Monday and it was not as crowded as in the past when we stayed in June or July. This may be the new time of the year that we stay in the future. The stretch of beach that runs the length of the park is great with many areas to enter to the beach and shower stations to wash the sand off. If you want to have fun at the beach, this is the place to do it.

My family has camped here for many years and we love it. It feels like coming home. We usually stay in late July/early Aug but this year we came later and stayed the week before Labor Day. Instead of the usual chaotic and crowded atmosphere we are used to, the park was half empty and rather dead. It was great not having to fight all of the golf cart traffic or wait in line at the snack bars, plus there were plenty of chairs at the pool and room on the beach. Later in the season is definitely the best time to go to enjoy a calmer, gentler Ocean Lakes. However we do love the usual craziness of the busy season and was a bit bored with the lack of excitement. Will definitely be going back next year during our regular dates. We love this place and can't wait to come back.
