Owner description: Public 18-hole course is a Willard Byrd design featuring plenty of water, bunkers and narrow fairways that challenges even the most serious of golfers.

We played yesterday with a forcast of scattered showers. I booked on-line quoted $34. The proshop charged the Locals price of $27. Don't bother with those coupons outside of peak season. The course was empty. We played "cart path only" in 3 1/2 hours. That included plenty of time walking back and forth to our balls. Some of the greens looked in rough shape. They all putted pretty true. The course was very wet - no roll. There's not as much water as the advertising would lead you to believe.

I recently played Heron Point and was very impresses by what I saw. They have done some major work by clearing out trees, renovating the greens, and other major touch-ups. The rate was a very fair $29+tax and we got more than our money's worth. I would certainly recommend this course to any player visiting the Grand Strand area.

Some of the greens were in pretty rough shape, other than that course was in decent condition....reasonably priced.... not bad for the money if you're on a budget or just a 'hacker'

Staff and clubhouse very nice. Greens fees were very reasonable ($67 total in the afternoon for two adults, a junior player, 1 extra rider and range balls)

The greens seemed to be heat damaged and the fairway grass was a bit tall The tall grass was likely due to the ton of rain that fell the days before we played.

Mediocre in every way.If you are staying nearby it is a place to play.It is definitely not a destination. The layout isn't bad,but the place is not the best kept. The fees are usually among the lower end but so is the course.
