Stay here if you want to be in the middle of it all. Rooms were clean but outdated. Staff was friendly, and checkin was a breeze. Plus there is a Starbucks. Though there wasn't much from keeping the general public from the hotels private pool area, guest safety is a concern.

After a long drive from Michigan we arrived at this resort late in Late April 2014. The staff at the front desk was kind enough to give us a discount for the first night because of our late arrival. Because we do not know this area it was a bit confusing to find this resort. Our GPS led us to a campground. Little did we know that we had to entirely pass the first hotel district to enter a completely new district a few miles away.
When we finally found the Long Bay Resort we parked in the connected parking structure which was free. We entered the lobby which was not inviting at all. We obtained our room keys and dragged our tired butts to our room. Our room was a South View 2 room apartment. We opened our door and there was a small kitchen with a stove, microwave, small fridge and everything you really need in a very small kitchen. To the left was a normal bathroom, though it could have used a cleaning. There was dried urine on the seat and the bathtub was filthy. Sorry, our little 5 year old... you will be taking a shower for the next 3 days. Past that area was a normal looking hotel room. Nothing special except for the balcony. The room looked like a shabby motel room that needed a facelift. The spreads looked and felt as if they were from the 70's and hadn't been washed since then. On a good note there was a DVD player and unlimited DVD's are offered for free in the lobby. To the left of this area was a very small door that looked like it once was a closet, but was not. It was the master bedroom complete with a king sized bed with the same spread, and another balcony. FYI... The beds are covered with bed bug protectors. You know what that means. We did not have any appear though and we would have known since one of our children is allergic to the reaction of these little critters.
As for the pools... AMAZING! There were 2 large pools... all heated to the most delightful temperature. A very nice lazy river. Several hot tubs. 2 kids area and one of which had a silly submarine which was very popular with our 5 year old and Large chess and checker sets. This resort had THE BEST AREA ON THE BEACH! We enjoyed this so much, SO many seashells to collect and so many sandcastles to build. We did not swim though. The water was still very cold. Lots of dead jellyfish to see which amused the boys! A little advise... There are so many hotels here that if you plan on walking up and down the beach take a picture of your hotel so you can find it when you come back.
Breakfast in the morning was terrible! Save your money. At almost $9 we got a buffet of pancakes that we could use as Frisbees on the beach and biscuts as hard as stones. The egg station was pretty good though. Eggs anyway you want them. The server even brought us fresh toast. We can't rate any other restaurant here because we did not dine anywhere else.
If you want the action of this destination within walking distance then this is not the place for you. It was quite a drive to the "downtown" area. This was a disappointment to us because you have to pay quite a bit for parking downtown.
Overall this was just an OK stay. If you don't mind a Motel quality resort with and awesome beach access then by all means book this place. After all they have great rates. If you are like us though and require more appealing accomodations then please do your research on your next Myrtle beach vacation.

The only thing my family and myself regret is not being able to stay longer.
The staff was all friendly. Housekeeping came every day and no one bothered you if you put the do not disturb sign on the door. The pools did not have much of a chemical smell I could not smell it at all actually. The kid pools were also pretty cool and the restaurant attached to the ground floor was nice. If you call to book I highly recommend asking for Ida. She gave me a better price than I could find online and also threw in som breakfast vouchers.
I was very happy with the room. I looked pretty hard for some of the problems people mentioned here and aside from the carpet and bedding I couldn't find much wrong. Neither were dirty or anything they just belonged in the 90s.
I have never been so pleased with a trip and I hope to visit the Long Bay Resort often(and soon).

This resort offered so many things to do and the service was excellent! We had a wonderful stay at the Savoy Oceanfront 3 bedroom condo and loved every minute of it. The condo was very spacious with plenty of room for everyone. The large balcony was used all day and well into the evening. The staff was always available when needed. They all seemed to stay very busy with helping guests or making the area neat and tidy. The beach was cleaned each morning so no mess from the visitors from the day before. We used the shopping service and didn't even need to worry about finding stores when we first got there. A very nice added service!

Room Tip: Water front was wonderful! You can open the doors and hear the waves as you drift off to sleep. It was a safe area and no need to worry about locking everything each night.

My family and I stayed here 5/2/14-5/4/14 in a King Suite (king bed, kitchen, living room w pull out sofa and wall bed). I must stay that this was the best hotel we've stayed at in Myrtle Beach. The location was perfect as it wasn't too far away from all the action, yet it wasn't right in the middle of it all. It is about 5 minutes from grocery stores (Kroger & Walmart), outlets and other shopping centers. There is a Starbucks, Martin's Restaurant and another restaurant on the property which was very convenient. There is a kiddie pool, game room, laundry room, sauna, pools inside and out and hot tubs. You also receive 1 free ticket to putt putt and a show. You can rent unlimited movies from the kiosk in the lobby for free during your stay. Did I mention that it was right on the beach? Yes, right on the beach and our room was beachfront. My husband had a very relaxing birthday weekend. There was nothing bad about this trip and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

Room Tip: Rooms on 16th floor have the best views.
