Owner description: If you only see one show... this is the one! "Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach" according to CNBC! The Carolina Opry has won every major South Carolina tourism award including Most Outstanding Attraction and the prestigious Governor's Cup. And it's the only show that has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, TNN, and USA Today, which called it "A Big Hit". The New York Post called it "A Hot Ticket".Entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore launched The Carolina Opry on South Carolina's Grand Strand in 1986. His live music variety show features a cast of 36 of the nation's top singers, dancers, comedians and musicians in its own 2200-seat show palace with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and three giant video screens. The show, which is continually updated with new music and comedy, is two hours of high energy entertainment that blends humor and dancing with everything from rock 'n roll, Broadway and country to classic hits, pop melodies and gospel.Young and old are counted among its fans who are sure to include a performance in their visit to Myrtle Beach. In November and December the theater is transformed into a winter wonderland where the magic of the season comes alive in The Carolina Opry Christmas Special a wonderfully dazzling, jolly and sentimental musical celebration of America's best-loved holiday..

“Even "Awesomer" Than Expected!”
Reviewed May 10, 2012

We booked our tickets the night before and got great seats to the Opry on Cinco de Mayo for our wedding anniversary. The Opry was set to begin at 7:30 pm but we arrived early and sat in on the pre-show, highly recommend getting to the theater at least a half hour early for this. As we sat in the theater with our pre-schooler, we realized that we on average about 30 years younger than pretty much the entire audience. We've never been to the Opry so I wasn't sure if this is normally the case or not but it was Cinco de Mayo, so we assumed that most of the 20 and 30 somethings were out at the bars. The show was absolutely excellent, the performers were top notch, comedy routine was hilarious, we could not get over the cloggers (they are awesome!!!!), the dancers were very well trained and a treat to see. We loved the music, the majority of which was country new and old. This show is perfect for all ages! Our daughter didn't make a peep, the stage kept her attention the entire time. Inside the Opry is beautiful.

Parking is easy, bathrooms are nice and clean, there is an intermission about half way thru the show, there are concessions similar to a movie theater and the best thing of all the performers come down to the front to meet and greet/take photo's etc, at the end of the show. Go to the Opry!!

“Great entertainment”
Reviewed May 7, 2012

While staying in Myrtle Beach area, we bought tickets to Carolina Opry at the recommendation of a local. Wonderful evening! Sat in the 8th row center stage. (Most seating in the theater looked like it would be fine, though - possibly with the exception of the first couple rows behind the sound stage area in the center theatre section.) Show was country music, rock and roll, banjo, guitars, piano, keyboard, bass, fiddle, +++ Vocals were superb - two or three of the cast members in particular were absolutely fabulous to hear. It was a true variety show -- with different entertainers coming off and on stage throughout the night, musical pieces interspersed with comedy routines, dance routines, slapstick, solos, groups, romantic music, oldies, rock and roll. and hand-clapping country songs. Lots of fun. Show has one 15 minute intermission. About 2 hours long. The crowd was dressed very casually - more so than we expected, but this is a beach town. Would definitely recommend this and when we return to Myrtle Beach we will go again. I'd like to see the 'Good Vibrations' show next time, which is apparently totally oldies.

“Great Show--The Carolina Opry/Good Vibrations”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

During my recent visit to Myrtle Beach my wife and I attended the musical shows at the Carolina Opry and I must say that they were two of the best shows that we have ever seen. I have traveled all over the world and have also visited Las Vegas and Atlantic City and have seen many different live shows. These two rank right up there with the best. The musicians/singers were professional, talented and cordial and knew how to put on a show. There was something for everybody. If you have the chance to take in one of these shows, you won't be disappointed. Great music, great show, great comedy.

“Good Vibrations”
Reviewed May 5, 2012 via mobile

Went to see Good Vibration's, musical variety show on a Monday night. It opened with The Beatles songs, then went through the 60's, 70's and 80's music. Some wonderful singers and dancers. Also had some comedy and river dancers. Had some laser light shows intermittently. Very entertaining. We sat in 5th row and tickets were $50 each. Bottom section was mostly filled, balcony not open. Very entertaining.
