“Nice Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2007

I stayed with my Wife and 2 kids (7 and 9) in June for 4 nights in the non ocean front section of the hotel. We had a great time. The pools are clean and well kept. The rooms are nice and clean, nothing extravagant, but well worth the price. We had a private balcony overlooking the pool that provided a nice spot for morning coffee.

The hotel is on the quiet end of Mrytle Beach and the owner does not seem to tolerate loudness or parties, etc. As a matter of fact, I saw him every day and he never failed to ask how things were. So, if you had an issue in this hotel I feel confident he would listen - and make it right.

Overall, this is a nice hotel in a nice location with a friendly and helpful staff. We had no issues getting breakfast, parking, or with any services.

Stayed here after investigating many beach front rooms. Chose this one because it was reasonably priced, and included a plentiful continental breakfast, daily newspaper and coffee machine in the room.

The front desk was knowledgeable and friendly. Our room housekeeper did a nice job. Maps, directions and printing of our boarding passes were some courtesies given to us by the staff!

The hotel is right across the street from the beach and when you tire of the sand, relax in the very clean pool area. Enjoy an ice cream bar you can purchase from the cart. Nice to relax and leave the work schedule!

Breakfast was good. Cold cereal, assorted juices, milk, fruit cups, bagels, danish and of course coffee and tea! A lady makes homemade waffles for you. The sitting area is very limited but we enjoyed breakfast outside on wrought iron tables or the pool area had tables.

Lots of families rented but noise is kept to a minimum at night. Glad we made this choice and they will see a return customer!

  • Liked — Across the street from the beach, good price, continental breakfast!!!
  • Disliked — Not enough inside table space for eating breakfast.

We just returned from a week's stay at the Best Western Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We traveled with my parents, who are in their eighties. Sometimes it is difficult to travel with senior citizens, but the Best Western went out of their way to treat us like royalty. The Best Western put us in "The Cottage". A three berdroom, 2 bathroom house on the hotel grounds. We had total privacy and all the services that are provided in the hotel itself. The Cottage is beautifully decorated and clean would be an understatement. It was great having front door parking. We had our own house!! We had a two minute walk to the pool and a four minute walk to the beach. We probably had 40 restaurants to choose from within a 2 mile radius. Myrtle Beach, SC is a great vacation destination which attracts people from around the world and the hotel was fully booked. At no time did we feel that the hotel staff was too busy to fulfill our needs. Anything we needed, we got it. I strongly recommend The Cottage at the Best Western Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Quiet, private, and a very attentive hotel staff. Southern hospitality at its' finest with genuine people who truly want you to be their guest. You will not regret a stay at The Cottage at the Best Western Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

  • Liked — we were in the privacy of "our own home"
  • Disliked — honestly, nothing

I took my mom and my aunt down for a few days and we had a great time. The hotel was conveniently located to nice restaurants and the new Coastal Grand Mall. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The oceanfront room was great. It was a very nice and relaxing hotel. I would highly recommend it to my family and friends. The service was excellent. We look forward to going back again real soon.

We stayed at the Best Western Grand Strand for 2 nights last week. (June 07). I have no complaints about the hotel. We did find out that the building we stayed in was across the street from the one that is on the ocean front. I did not realize that until we arrived. The other people staying at the hotel liked to slam doors, and someone from security was talking very loudly on either a cell phone or to someone else about 4am one morning. If you like all the noise, heavy traffic, and all the confusion of downtown, this is the hotel and area for you. Personally we like something a little more off the beaten path.
We took a ship excursion from Capt Dicks that was great. And a must see if you like botanical gardens or the plantations is Brook Green Gardens which is about 20 miles before you get to Myrtle Beach.

We found this hotel thru AAA website when searching for top lodging accomodations in Myrtle Beach. I called directly to book my reservation and spoke with the owner Jack. He was the nicest, most sincere helpful person. I immediately knew we'd made the right decision of where to stay. Upon arrival, check in was super fast and even 1/2 hour early! The room we stayed, (oceanfront King suite) was better than what we even expected. First of all, the cleanliness of this place was incredible, especially for being on the beach. The second best thing though was the comfortable bed!! It was better than our own bed at home!! It had a pillowtop mattress! The view was incredible from our balcony, which by the way has nice relaxing rocking chairs! Another great feature. My husband, kids & I enjoyed the pool and lazy river for hours. The indoor pool was great as well, as most people were at the outdoor pool or beach so we pretty much had it to ourselves. There's laundry on the premises which is definitely a plus, and not overpriced by any means!!! The staff was outstanding at answering any questions, or giving directions to anywhere you want to go. They will deliver your complimentary breakfast to your rooms each day for a small fee. Food was good. The only thing I can really find to complain about was crossing the street to the main building (where the outdoor pool/lazy river is) or vice versa if you're going to the beach from the main bldg. You have to cross a 4 lane busy highway and there are no traffic lights or crosswalks. This however, is not the hotel's fault. Its just a warning for people to be real careful, especially those with small children. The housekeeping staff could have been better, they did not vacuum the rugs a couple days, but when I called the front desk (and found they'd been having trouble with the vacuum cleaner) they IMMEDIATELY sent someone to vacuum. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice, clean, quiet, relaxing place to stay. My family & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western on the Grand Strand in MB, SC. It was a good family place for a quick overnite visit. The location was good for the attractions that the kids (13&6) wanted to see. The room was clean enough. The staff was polite but they didn't really "go out of their way" for you.

Checking in at 3:00 is a bear. The lines can be long and the process was long as well. It is hard to keep excited kids occupied while in line. Early check in is difficult. The rooms aren't guaranteed until 3PM anyway.

We would stay here again, if only for the heated lazy river and the decent price.

Warning- the outdoor pool is NOT heated, only the lazy river. There is an indoor pool and hot tub across the street in the oceanfront building. We did not visit it though.

Also- They have wireless internet but we could not get a connection from the room . We had to walk outside to get a connection but it was terribly slow. No matters, we were on vacation anyway!

  • Liked — The location made it worth the price.
  • Disliked — The internet/wireless service was terrible.
