Owner description: One of the anchor's of the Myrtle Beach oceanfront, the Gay Dolphin has delighted generations of customers since 1946. The most unique gift shop on the Grand Strand, it has twenty-six thousand square feet of fun spread over seven levels. Located directly on the new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk between Mr. Joe White Avenue and 9th Avenue North, just south of Plyler Park. The Gay Dolphin is now wheelchair accessible! An elevator lift was installed in March/April of 2015, which allows wheelchair access to 85% - 90% of the store.

The Gay Dolphin is weird, rambling, and a little dusty. It's kind of like a cross between a flea market and a gift shop. In other words, it's fun! If you like flea markets, then this is your place.

If you are looking for one of those old fashioned places that has some of almost everything, this is one of them. There is so much stuff in this place that you get lost...It's not one of those giant "cheap beach stuff" stores either. It's a good old fashioned gift shop. If you are looking for something to take to somoene, at least stop in and look around. I don't know how they could ever inventory the place...

If you see it...GO IN!!! A cute sign hanging in the window on display drew me in, but then stayed probably an hour...ended up with lots of good deals!

Many interesting gifts, many coated with dust. Lots of various gifts that you don't find in the modern gift shops. Interesting to see the old postcards from the strip. Worth a stop.
