Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel
Ranked #58 of 209 Hotels in Myrtle Beach
Reviewed February 15, 2014

This is a beautiful hotel. It is a pleasure to stay here. The rooms are beautiful with lovely features and wonderful linens. The art is all by local artists! Anyone who is connected with the convention center will especially enjoy it because you just park your car and don't have to move it. The restaurant is good, too.

This hotel is located a good two-three blocks to the beach. You could easily walk to the beach if you don't have much to carry but you would not want to take little kids and their toys. Drive and park if you have much to carry. The hotel itself is great if doing anything at the convention center since it is attached to the center. One draw back is the parking garage. The easiest way is to walk outside and into the garage elevators. Would be nice to access the garage from the hotel without going outside. I wish Sheraton would offer a free breakfast. For the price I think they could offer continental breakfast and a pay for breakfast if you wanted something more. Rooms were big and clean, elevators a little slow but it was a busy weekend. Would stay again.

Room Tip: ask for a room above the sixth floor so you can wake to see the ocean. we were on ninth floor.

We stayed at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center during a three day volleyball tournament for our daughter. We had no complaints at all! The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was nice and most importantly , clean! Our teammates were placed right next to us and the rates were great. (We did receive special rates for the tournament.) There are no included extras like breakfast, however it is available in the restaraunt. Also, parking is an extra $8/night for self parking or $12/night for valet, but the convenience of being attached to the Convention Center outweighed the extra charges for our family. We would definitely stay there again.

we stayed for the 3 day MLK holiday weekend. our daughter was playing in a tournament at the convention center. we were on the 8th floor in a simple, but nice clean room with a large window that we could actually see the ocean from. it was a beautiful view even though it was 2 blocks off the shore. service was fine for us as we called for extra towels once and had them in 5 minutes. the front desk called 10 minutes later to make sure we got them. we are Hilton honor members but stayed here due to adjacent to convention center, it was a big plus just walking down a hallway to our event. free parking was very limited, and no free breakfast at all were the only 2 issues that would have increased the value of this stay for us.

Traveled to Myrtle Beach SC off-season for our daughter's volleyball tournament. Stayed at the Sheraton because it was the host-site for the tournament. It was not as nice as we expected. They hit us with an $8 per day surcharge for having a car as if that was something unusual. The room was OK although the beds were way too soft — it was like laying in a hammock. Saturday morning at 7:15 AM I got in the shower & found the water wasn't hot, barely warm. Later in the day there was hot water but apparently they can't keep up with morning showers.

The carpet needed cleaning. Instead of cleaning it they dumped some deodorizer on it. And this place CLAIMED to be a Sheraton!

The temperature in our room was out of our control & the window didn't open. Even though it was cold outside sometimes our room was uncomfortably hot. The room was also noisy. Even though we were on the 7th floor, traffic sounded loud — as did our neighbors & people in the hallways.

The weekend breakfast buffet was a total ripoff. $10 per person sounded OK until we say what was there, no fresh fruit, no pastries, 2 containers of yogurt, Only 2% milk, scrambled eggs & sausage that weren't cooked thoroughly, no waffles, no bacon, only 4 types of cereal in single-serving boxes to choose from. I've been to many weekend breakfast buffets in hotel restaurants & this didn't measure up. I would have expected better at a free breakfast bar in a hotel costing 1/3 as much.

There was an exercise room with nice aerobic machines, dumb-bells, and a crappy "universal" type machine. The pool was simply a kids' 3'-3'9" wading pool, with no hot tub, sauna, or adult swimming pool.

There were some things that measured up, the entrance was nice, elevators were nice, and it was well maintained.

Our overall impression was that they seemed to believe no amenities were needed since they adjoined the convention center. We disagree.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere.

My family stayed here for 2 nights in a suite. Upon entering our room, it smelled like someone had just been in it smoking! The smell was horrendous! There was also trash left over from the last person (New Years eve blowers, etc). The trash can in the bathroom was on top of the sink. The floor was filthy and there were stains in the carpet!! We had to use the pull out couch in the suite. When we went to find the extra sheets in the closet, they were dirty and clearly had been used!!! So gross!! So, we called down at 4pm for clean sheets and pillow. We waited abt 20 min and no one came, so we decided we would go out to dinner and assumed the sheets would be there when we got back. At 9pm when we returned, there were no sheets. So, we called to inquire. They said they would be right up. At 10pm, still NO sheets. My 4 kids were exhausted and they couldn't go to sleep unless we wanted them to sleep on used sheets. My husband called down and had to make an issue out of it. No one apologized, just kept blaming someone else. Finally, when the sheets arrived (now almost 11), the housekeeping person said that the front desk had JUST let her know we needed sheets. Also, our shower had mold in the corners of the grout. Disgusting!! This hotel has some major issues in management and cleanlinessand we will not ever stay here again, nor will we refer family/friends here (and we will be returning to the area because we have family here).

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights, including New Year's, and will be back again in the near future. The Sheraton is a classy hotel with very friendly competent staff who can easily handle any situation. We had a 10th floor room that had an ocean view that was really nice. It allowed us to see the New Year's fireworks from our window. The room itself was very suitable for the 2 of us, had a small refrigerator, a nice sized tv with cable, free wifi, and an excellent 1 cup coffee maker. The coffee packets were actually from Starbucks! The bathroom was very nice, as were the amenities. The hotel has a restaurant and very nice lobby bar on the 2nd floor. As for location, a walk to the beach or Broadway is very doable, if you do not mind a 15 - 20 minute walk. A drive to either would take about 5 minutes.
Our only suggestion for improvement has to do with the many level parking garage, which is spacious, clean, near elevators, and very affordable ($8 for self park; $13 for valet). But, knowing whether you are going up or down can be confusing. Although there are arrows on the pavement, they are not always easy to see. Having a Large Print EXIT word with an arrow on the way, from time-to-time would have been very helpful. In any case, this was a small matter that did not detract from the very nice stay that we had.

Room Tip: Up high with an ocean view----even if partial-----is a real plus.
