“BEAUTIFUL VACATION”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Me and my boyfriend recently stayed at the Camelot Hotel. The front desk staff was always courteous and helpful. They gave us a lot of information on travel and places to see. We had a oceanfront 1 bedroom suite which was very cozy, clean, mattress a little softer than I am use to but doable. The pool area was clean and nice. The room service was alright except for one day the garbage in the kitchen area and bathroom was not emptied. I had to call the front desk for someone to get the garbage and they were prompt about it. Overall our stay was great right on the strip. Yes I would stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1406 very nice. very sunny, separate living room also with a TV.

Although I've lived in SC most of my life I've never been a big fan of MB because of how crowded it is and how cheap & touristy so much of it seems, despite the fact that the beach is beautiful (if crowded.) There are so many better SC beaches to choose that we usually choose somewhere else. But my husband has been working near here this summer and having to stay overnight for stretches of time, so I've been going down to MB to be able to spend time with him, work in the mornings and evenings, and enjoy the beach during the afternoons. So far we've stayed in three high rise resorts on the beach. They all are big and somewhat dated and show the scars of having hosted many many people who are on cavation and don't really feel obligated to take care of their accommodations. Of the three we've stayed at so far, all in the same price range, I like Camelot the best. Not so much because of the room or pools or cleaning staff -- they're all about the same -- but because of its location. Facing the beach, to the right of the hotel is a park -- and NOT another high rise hotel. This is important because in July, the hotels block the sun off the beach in the late afternoon, but the break in the horizon by the park means you have full sun on the beach until it goes down about 8 pm. The other reason we like Camelot is because to the left of the hotel (facing the beach) there's a little bar/restaurant called Bummerz. It has decent food (small selection - fried shrimp, etc,), a good bar, and outside music every night. You can walk through a gate at the pool and anothe 10 steps and you're there. It has a great view of the ocean and adirondack chairs, and is so relaxing. As to the Camelot, the staff here has been nice. If you want to sleep late, you won't get your room cleaned, but we've found that everywhere on the beach this summer. My very big complaint is that there are so many ill-behaved children here (I'm writing this from the hotel) that it can be like a zoo in the pool area.So loud, running around in clear danger of busting their bodies open, eating food in the hot tubs and pools. It's ridiculous. If the hotel would enforce the rules they post on the walls it would be a much safer and enjoyable experience for everyone. Toddlers should never be allowed in hot tubs with temps of 102 and higher, and children should never be allowed to dive into pools of 3 feet depth.

This resort is an excellent choice for families. So many amenities and an extremely courteous staff. Also within walking distance to central Myrtle Beach attractions. Only negative was the kitchenette in our room was very small which made it difficult for in room cooking. We were an adults only group, so all the kids that were splashing us in the pool was kind of annoying. But the kids were sure having a great time! Would definitely recommend this resort to families vacationing in Myrtle Beach..

The employees are very nice and helpful, the pool area well maintained, but our room (1708) was in need of updating, and the bedroom and kitchen area very small. Although we have stayed at Camelot twice before, I checked the reviews on tripadvisor and thought the property had been renovated. We stayed in an oceanfront studio that had two queen beds, kitchen, and a dining/living area with a murphy bed. The beds were comfortable, but creeky, the bedspread and blankets old and worn, the murphy bed (which we didn't use) had a mattress that had a spring hanging out. The bathroom mirror looked like holes had been shot in it due to the reflective backing missing. We had to ask for towels, and washcloths every day, and were told that housekeeping only leaves a specific number of towels for room type irregardless of the number staying. We had no kitchen towels or dish cloths for two of our three nights, and soap, shampoo, and lotion were left only one day. It was very loud in our room at night due to the traffic noise from the road, children running and yelling in the hallway, and one night at +/- 1:00 am someone pulled the fire alarm. Unless the entire property is renovated, I will be staying elsewhere on my next trip to Myrtle Beach.

Room Tip: We have stayed on lower floors before, and the traffic noise was not as bad. I would ask for a room...

This was family's first stay at the Camelot by the Sea.The front desk staff was very courteous, efficient and helpful, but housekeeping was very RUDE. We ran out of towels and when housekeeping came, she acted as it was our fault that they ran out of towels. The beds were very comfortable, but the pillows need to be run through a wash cycle periodically. The carpet needs to be vacuumed and steam cleaned. The location was perfect, and check-in & check-out was extremely fast. Although, there were a few "hiccups," I will stay here again. Management, you need to re-train your housekeeping staff or hire more courteous people.

We enjoyed our stay at The Camelot and would highly recommend it to families and couples. The room was nice and clean with the exception of the patio furniture that was old and had burned places on the chairs and table. The service and staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasantly nice. The price was very comparable to the surrounding resorts. I arrived at 4:00 am had no reservations and was given a room at a discounted price while I was denied a room at a couple nearby resorts until 3 or 4 pm later that day.I will definitely book reservations here on my next trip to Myrtle Beach.

Not very impressed with the Camelot. The carpet was dirty and one of our bedspreads were dirty. The mattresses on all three beds were old, creeky and not very comfortable at all. Had to call daily and ask for a sufficient amount of towels and wash cloths needed. Even the toilet tissue was cheap (crumbled when trying to use). Will never stay here again!
