“The best pier!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Spent some time on this pier everyday! It's open at 6:00 am, & doesn't close till midnight, Had fun watching people fishing, watching the water, you can get breakfast at Barnacles on the pier, & eat outside.

“Saw SHARKS !!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

The pier is wide which makes a great strolling area. Shaded places to sit. An old style swing. MIddle way on the pier the people fishing showed us the 4-6 feet sharks swimming right below us. That was amazing...

“Potential Potential Potential”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

The pier itself is great. It's wide, and spacious for many hours of fishing fun and family outing. However, the maintenance isn't that great. There is a light that has been flickering for about a year at the end of the pier near the roof's edge that they have not fixed yet. The lighting itself is too dark as well. Unlike other piers which have changed to white light to benefit the fishers as well as the fish in the area, Springmaid hasn't made that transition yet. Not only that, because of the ban on the sharks, there are huge sharks in the area that makes it dangerous. This could be a great attraction if they put their mind to it.

“a nice place to spend a few hours”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

This is a pier that juts out into the ocean, and from which people fish. It does not have carnival games or rides, so you need to adjust your expectations of what is there. My husband rented a fishing pole and bought some bait, and he and our kids spent a couple of hours hoping to catch something (while I read the paper at a nearby set of benches). He did catch a baby shark, which he released back into the ocean - so that was kind of amazing that baby sharks are in the water so close to a beach resort. The Barnacles restaurant is not good food, so bring a cooler if you are planning to spend the day here. It's pleasant and peaceful, but not a high activity attraction.

“August 2013 Trip”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Very nice pier, including a restaurant, a gift shop, a tackle/ bait shop, comfortable/ covered seating, and an ice cream/ italian ice cart. It was clean and provided a great view of the ocean/ beach.
