“The Perfect Place To Get Away To...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2011

This is just the most wonderful stay that we could have hoped for. My husband and I stayed in one of the oceanfront rooms and we were so happy to have such a clean room. We did have one issue with the tub draining slowly, but they sent one of their maintenance crew, Thomas, up to fix it. He was so very helpful. He fixed the tub quickly, was so courteous and told us several places to visit while we were in town. He informed us of the Skywheel just opening and the beautiful boardwalk where we enjoyed a beautiful stroll. Thomas also offered assistance to my husband to bring the remaining items from the car, when we refused, he was still helpful in getting a luggage cart for us and returned it for us after he finished with the tub. As he was leaving, he noticed that I was having trouble opening the sliding door and helped to open it for me, having arthritis those buttons sometimes give me trouble. Thomas returned a few minutes later when we called down to let the front desk know that the remote wasn't working. He came prepared with fresh batteries and another remote just in case. After putting the fresh batteries in and reprogramming the original remote, we were set for the rest of our vacation! We enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony rockers, watching the sun rise over the ocean. The food was always fresh and the ladies were nice and never seemed to slow down as they continued to refresh the items. Front desk seemed to get us checked in rather quickly which we appreciated after our drive in. The pools and hot tubs seemed to be very well cared for and the path to the beach is well maintained.
On the last morning of our stay, as we came back from our early morning walk, we were able to speak to Thomas one last time before we left while he was maintaining the pool area. The sincerity in his asking us to return and thanking us for staying with the "Hampton Family", made us feel as if we were truly appreciated for staying here. We have never felt so welcomed at any other of the places we have stayed during our vacations to the beach.
The next time that we are ready to get away from home, we have certainly found the perfect place to get away to. We only hope that Thomas is still here when we return. What a fantastic vacation! We will be back!

Room Tip: Stay oceanfront if it's in your budget.

We stayed at Hampton inn & Suites for 2 nights in late May, it was a very relaxing stay. Free parking is located at the very front of the Hotel with plenty of spaces available. Staff were very friendly and our room was very clean and tidy. The free breakfast was a great bonus with plenty of choices available. There is also a free airport shuttle as well. We highly recommend this Hotel to anyone travelling to Myrtle Beach

This hotel is really well maintained and so clean for a family hotel. The breakfast is nice each morning. The staff is very friendly. In the past we have rented a condo in myrtle beach but after our stay at the Hampton we won't stay anywhere else!

Ever since this Hampton Inn was built in MB, we have stayed here and nowhere else when we visit. It is clean and inviting and the staff are always so nice and helpful. This time around we actually stayed in the newer tower in a side balcony room. We usually reserve an ocean view room, but decided we weren't going to be in the room all that much so we would save a little bit of money. The view was actually great! We could still see the ocean and we could view the street. We also had a view of the hotel next door and found it quite enjoyable and amusing to people watch. The clientele at this hotel are always polite and respectful as well. The pools were awesome and clean as usual. They actually added another pool, lazy river, and hot tub as well as a splash pool for the kids. We spent a lot of time between the beach and the pools. The path to and from the beach allowed for easy and quick access to the pool area and even back to your room. That makes it very convenient if you have little ones who need to go back up to the room for anything. The room was a reasonable size with two queen beds. We even fit a roll-away in there for our 3rd child. The complimentary breakfast was also great. We are actually planning another weekend stay in MB in the fall so we can attend the new Dixie Stampede Pirate show, and we will be staying here again.

(Note: They have balcony rooms that actually face each tower of the hotel. They are priced lower since you are looking at a building, but we could see the balconies from the beach. So from the beach angle, those rooms actually didn't look so bad. They do have a side view of the ocean. It may be a cost-effective choice for some people.)

I would post pics, but the files are slightly over the max limit for tripadvisor and I don't have time to resize.

We've been staying in Myrtle Beach for over 20 years but this was our first stay here. Overall it was pretty good. The parking deck built directly onto the hotel was a huge plus, as opposed to the ones across the street from the other hotels where we have stayed. It was not difficult to find a parking spot, and none of the spots was far away. We got covered parking most days, but even when we had to park on the top deck (not covered) it was no big deal. Check in was super fast. Ross checked us in, and was a fine gentleman (he seems very young, but very professional). We got our parking passes and keys and headed up to our room (2 bd 2 ba). We were in the south tower, and I will say that it IS tough to get an elevator in a timely manner during their busy times (check-in, check-out, etc). The lobby is nice, the breakfast areas are nice, and they have an outdoor terrace right off the breakfast areas with rockers. Nice touch.

The room was nice and well appointed for the most part. The bedding is good and the kitchenette is pretty well equipped. I was disappointed not to have an oven however. There is an electric can-opener and I agree with another poster who said a toaster oven would have been better - TRUE. There is a toaster though, and two burners (one big, one small), and a large microwave over the stove. There are bowls and plates, utensils, pots & pans and a 9X13 glass cake pan. Pretty much everything we needed except space. The kitchenette is tiny!! But we made do. One negative thing about the room when we got there - the master BR sliding glass door was really dirty - as if a child had smeared yogurt or something on it and the housekeeper didn't notice. But the rest of the room was very clean.

The breakfasts are good, though on most mornings it was a ZOO. But it is a nice touch to be able to have eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, cereal, danish, coffee, juice, yogurt, etc. Also, they always have coffee, tea and hot chocolate available. The breakfast is 6 to 10am daily. They do a good job of restocking too, though there are so many people vying for everything that it is sometimes hard to get what you want in a timely manner. If you can't find a place to sit in the mornings, you can always try the opposite tower - it's just a walk down a hallway - to see if you can find a table there.

We really spent very little time in or near the pools, as we prefer the beach. We found it easy to set up our large pop-up cabana every day. For some reason, our part of the beach was never terribly crowded, although just a little north or a little south - SUPER crowded. I like that our little area on the beach was never unmanageable with crowds.

There's no night-life in or around this hotel. It is most definitely NOT geared toward the younger crowd. There is no restaurant or bar or anything of that nature. It is a family-friendly hotel for sure. My younger son was disappointed that there is nothing to do at this hotel other than pools and the beach. It would be great if they had an arcade or something of that nature.

The service at this hotel is impeccable. Ross and Erik at the front desk are both exceptional, as is Mitch who is constantly running around doing for someone. He is a maintenance man as well as "runner" - if you need anything, Mitch brings it to you and does it cheerfully. He is INCREDIBLY busy, always fixing something or bringing guests the things they need (pillows, extra towels, etc). I can't say enough about these guys.

If you want an easy, mostly hassle-free stay at the beach, look no further than Hampton Oceanfront. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: North tower has 3 elevators - request that.

Other reviews way underestimate this hotel in my opinion. We were so surprised at the luxury, the amazing oceanfront view, and amenities. The beach is beautifully cared for here, the many pools are wonderful. Very family friendly hotel. Excellent hot breakfast and incredible southern hospitality. And a very reasonable cost.

Room Tip: Get an oceanfront room up as high as possible.

Arrived at hotel on Memorial Day, perfect timing as Bike Week had just wrapped up. This hotel is just south of the main cruising strip on Myrtle Beach so we didn't have to battle the crowds in traffic or on the beach. We had 2 BR/2 Bath suite with kitchette, family of 4 (2 kids, 8 & 5).

Can't beat the great linens, fresh comforter covers of Hampton Inn. Breakfast was covered every morning with no problems there. There's a spa on-site, but we didn't try it. No restaurant, but plenty within short driving distance. Many parking garage spots were covered.

We stayed in the North tower, which I heard someone on the front desk staff say was actually the newer of the two towers. Also heard that the South tower has the newer decor as it was shut down and updated after the North tower opened. North tower has 3 elevators, South tower has 2. Decor in North tower seemed okay to me, though. Bit of a nautical theme. Only complaint about the rooms was that the main suite got warm during the day. Had to turn the A/C down to cool that room, but made it a bit on the chilly side in the rest of the suite. No big deal. We just kept the blinds closed in the main suite during the day to keep it cooler. Ceiling fans throughout. Washer and dryer on our floor was convenient.

Hit the grocery store on the first day and we had lunches and snacks for the week. Kitchenette was pretty decently equipped. I'd rather have a toaster oven than an electric can opener, though. :-)

Pools were great for the kids (and adults). There are several pools and a hot tub actually under the hotel that you can't really see in pictures of the property. When we were there, the only place you could usually get pool/beach towels was from the front desk; rarely had a cart out by the pool that seemed to be first grab, first get. Gets primarily shady in the afternoon so if you want afternoon sun you need to hop across the bridge from the pool area to the beach. Convenient showers to rinse off when coming back from the beach; wish the foot washes were a bit easier to use and maybe a little more water conserving. (were regular garden spigots with turn handles). Usually had fresh cookies out in the lobby in the afternoon so that was our PM snack. Ah, only major problem with the pool area was that there weren't any bathrooms on the level of the pool. Seemed like the kids required the facilities daily and we had to hop on an elevator and wander wet and barefoot to the bathrooms near the exercise room on the 2nd floor. Maybe they didn't want non-hotel patrons having access to facilities. We're lucky we didn't have little ones needing diaper changes anymore as I never cared to do that poolside (gross) and it was a bit of a hike to find a bathroom.

A separate company rents umbrellas and chairs on the beach. Is worth it if you don't want to lug stuff around. If you rent multiple days you get a discount. If you don't mind lugging stuff, you can set your umbrella up right in between the umbrellas that the life guard sets up. Not supposed to put umbrellas closer to surf than the guard stand... Not really a great place to store your beach stuff back in the suite. A bit of a vinyl floor entryway, otherwise you have to tiptoe over to your balcony and set everything out there.

I'm personally not a huge fan of Atlantic Coast beaches, used to a bit of the humid funky smell that permeates places that are on the beach, but this property lacked funk as far as I can tell. Was my preferred place to stay as opposed to a funky condo b/c we had daily housekeeping and linen changes. I actually had a pretty good time! (strong words coming from me)

Room Tip: 2 BR/2 BA was great, most all rooms oceanfront
