The new boardwalk is just fabulous, just 1 mile long and unlike the usual beach boardwalks. I don't know exactly what it is made of, some of it is wooden and some concrete but it is well designed and a refreshing walk alongside the ocean. At one end is the 2nd Avenue Pier where we like to walk the pier and have lunch. At the other end is the Skywheel and if you go at night the lights are really nice.

When friends visit us we go up to the boardwalk and walk along the beach and visit some of the resturants or bars for a cool drink. Well worth the trip up to Myrtle and see the sights.

We decided to walk down the boardwalk on our last night in Myrtle Beach to see the Christmas lights. They were done up very nicely and changed to the music. Not very busy though.

Went for a stroll with my girlfriend on the boardwalk in late October during the day on a weekday so the place was not busy at all. During the summer months I imagine it would be quite busy in the evenings. The boardwalk itself is nice. Some of the stores along it are tacky though. Great place to just take a stroll right near the beach and ocean though.

Being a Jersey girl growing up with boardwalks (whats left of them), I was excited to try the new one at Myrtle Beach. We parked for free at 14th Ave and walked the entire 1.4 mile stretch and back at Thanksgiving this year. For me, it was a sampler of boardwalks; the first few blocks were like the raised wooden narrow walk at Murrels Inlet, then the main few blocks of business area were wide wooden squares of what looked like recycled wood, then the final part was different concrete designs and beautifully landscaped edges. The few blocks by the Ferris Wheel had a few shops and restaurants and we stopped and had ice cream. This area was like a mini Seaside Heights. Otherwise, the boardwalk meandered and then started curving towards the 2nd Ave Pier. There were a few hotels and restaurants but it was mainly a pleasant walk and access to the beach. I do hope that many more structures will be built along such a beautiful walkway. There was a scary cave like building being built which I'm guessing will be a fun house.
