“Nice little museum; great for quick fix of culture, art, history and more.”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Great for rainy days for tourists on the Grand Strand or regular trips by locals looking for a dose of regional culture and art, this is a two-story museum in a charming sprawling home-like building that has a few educational displays or art exhibits going on at a time and special events practically monthly--like a Chinese New Year / Cultural Festival which is great for children. They also have small educational center where you can learn about local history including viewing video on history of Myrtle Beach. General admission is free, a donation suggested. The Springmaid resort and pier is across the street and has beach view grill adjacent to the pier which is okay for light lunch before or after. The museum has a gift shop with nice items and prints, including some by my favorite southern artist Jonathan Green, who has exhibited there as well.

“Great way to spend a cold afternoon”
Reviewed January 6, 2014 via mobile

As an artist I like to visit as many galleries as possible while vacationing. This one was a great place to spend a cold January day. It is easy to find and it seems like they promote art in their local area with many events. Loved the work by Julyan Davis.

“not advertised enough”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

The exhibits were great for a small museum. We saw exhibits of beautiful beaded coats, local photos, sea glass, and Gullah life. the museum is free but dobatiobs are requested. Unfortunately this museum is not advertised enough. it was a far better way to spend a few calm quiet hours than at the obnoxious number of shopping places.

It has traveling exhibits that reach out to everyone. It has special events, and always has inspirational things for children. It is a must see place when your at the beach... especially on a bad weather day. Something for the entire family. It is a donation entry.

“Small museum but worth a visit”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

This is a very small art museum; however, it has unique exhibits which change periodically. Whenever you are in Myrtle Beach, check to see what the exhibit is and stop by if it is of interest. The staff is very helpful.
