Owner description: The Market Common is a place where you can experience exceptional shopping and dining in a beautifully-designed village setting. Along tree-lined avenues, you'll find the nation's biggest and most celebrated names in retail to one-of-a-kind boutiques unique to this region. Enjoy cuisine from some of the area's best chefs at one of eleven popular restaurants, or take in a movie at the most comfortable theater at the beach.

The Market Commons is a great upscale and safe shopping experience. There are many nice shops to stroll through as well as restaurants for when you get hungry. I would recommend this place if it is a nice day and you want to walk around but in a nice safe area.

This re-development of a former AFB is a nice place for old fashioned downtown type shopping in a classier, safer environment than Ocean Blvd. The shops are pricy and upscale. I have not found any of the dining I've tried here to be much. There is a large park area and pond as well as park benches. Unfortunately many merchants come and go, as the seasonal nature of the area makes it tough to get through a year. It is not an over hyped tourist trap like Broadway or Barefoot, yet has similar specialty shops. There are vintage aircraft from the old base on display near the Bus. 17 entrance. I like the quieter atmosphere here to sit or stroll while the wife shops.

The Market Common held their first New Year's Celebration and it was excellent! It took place 7 pm - midnight, and the main streets were closed off to traffic. Earlier events were family friendly like face painting, carriage rides, magician, fire-twirler, people dressed and standing like statues. Later on a band performed, very enjoyable music. A blow up screen projected New Year's Rockin' Eve from TV. The Market Common has lots of restaurants that were all packed. There were a small number of food vendors in the closed off area (hot dogs, popcorn, beer, wine). The Mayor came about 11 and stayed to drop the glitterball that was lowered from a crane. Jiffy-Johns were strategically positioned. Far more people attended than anyone imagined (thousands!), so the vendors sold out about 11:40. But it was a very festive time, felt so much like Times Square (without the massive crowds and freezing cold). Excellent time and next year promises to be even better!

When you go next year, plan for it to be colder than you think it is, even though this is Myrtle Beach. Bring gloves and a hat and dress in a couple of layers. Get a room at the Residences at the Market Common for a total experience!!

This is a great place to spend a few hours eating and shopping. Market Common has an upscale but family-friendly atmosphere. We visited after Christmas so it was lit at night and very pretty and inviting. We ate at Nacho Hippo and loved the boutique-style Piggly Wiggly. There are great shops like Anthropologie and Pottery Barn, Barnes and Noble, eateries like Coldstone Creamery, Crepe Creation Cafe and an Italian Restaurant that looked great. The movie theater had 14 theaters. We kept saying Market Common would be a unique and fun place to live. The shops are located under condos. There are seating areas with benches and tables, and it is all-around just a pretty area. There is a huge lake with walking areas around it right outside of the shopping area. We definitely would return here.
