Captain George's seafood buffet is a good value for anyone who likes seafood and lots of it. The food is good tasting and well presented. We visited with our 4 year old grandson and they have a policy to not charge for kids under 5 years old. Great idea since kids typically don't eat much of type of fare. Although we did like the restaurant and will visit again if in Myrtle Beach, there were a couple of negatives that need mentioning.

First of all the temperature in the restaurant was so cold that it made for a not pleasant dining experience. Coming into the area from an above 90 degree day it was almost like entering a refrigerator. The dinner plates were not warmed so they were at the very cold temp of the restaurant itself. There is nothing worse than putting good hot food on an ice cold plate and then eating it cold at the table. The dining area is so large that it is impossible to reach your table with anything resembling a hot meal.

Let me start out by saying I have eaten seafood form around the world from al a carte and buffets. Please don't look at the "excellent or great" ratings If you have standards for seafood or have eaten that was at least somewhat good, DO NOT EAT HERE. THe food is high school cafeteria quality at best, the fried goods are terrible, the oysters and clams are frozen, or come from cans, THEY ARE NOT FRESH, the fried seafoods were sub par, Ive never had a bad scallop til i visited this place. The ONLY two good things here were the waiter and the snow crab legs were half way decent. it is also $30 per person and $2.50 for soda, PLEASE save you're money AND taste buds and look else where for seafood.

This was not our first time at Captain Georges, in fact we have been dozens of times over the years and there is one simple, undeniable truth about this place...Some of the dishes are going to be winners, and some losers! I find this is typical of buffets in general, but when paying around thirty bucks for a buffet it can be quite annoying. The reason I give it 4 stars is because it is seafood, so even if there was only one exceptional dish (and there are many) it would be comparable to a sit-down seafood restaurant where they charge $20-$30 for a single entree! So don't be a hater, if there are a few things on the buffet you don't like....skip them and enjoy the over all experience, which includes great service and a fun atmosphere.

I ate with my 8 year old son, my sister and two young teen nephews during our recent stay in Myrtle Beach. There was a wait to be seated, but it is handled well, with benches to sit. We really didn't wait longer than 20 minutes for our party of five. Once we were seated, our waiter took our drink order promptly. We then proceeded to the seafood nirvana! Just let me say, the crab legs were AWESOME! Hot, fresh, salty and sweet. Very meaty and done perfectly. I also loved the corn bread muffins! Our waiter says they serve 2500 lbs of crabs legs a day. That's 1/2 of a tractor trailer! Worth every penny!

We have dined here several times over the years when traveling to Myrtle Beach. Sometimes we've loved it, and other times not so much. This time we thought the food items we chose of the many offered were very good. We try to take the items we can't easily get at other seafood restaurants due to cost such as the crab legs, steamed clams, she crab soup. Everything we tasted was cooked just right and we enjoyed every bite. Yes, it is a costly meal and if someone doesn't eat the higher value items, it may not be worthwhile going to this kind of buffet. Going early or on Sunday will save some $$ and the food is just as good. One thing we didn't enjoy was the Baklava- way too much spice was used! Flan is one of the best desserts offered.
