“Hospice Trip”

Sand Dune's Resort, I think by Marriott, is incredible. Staff is nice, rooms and facilities are perfect. I'd return here for family or business trips. The swimming pool and room views were beautiful. It's a little hard to find because it is tucked away nicely; but worth finding.

This is our second visit to this beach front hotel. The location is outstanding, beach front rooms are reasonably priced, room was very clean on arrival, service staff is courteous and helpful, pool is well maintained, and the property is nicely groomed.
But this hotel has been here for many years, and time is taking its toll on the facilities. The elevators have a dank smell, and the overall building is in need of a major upgrade. The price offers at lot of value, but nice amenities are lacking.

Worst experience of spending a much-awaited vacation. This resort sucks, can u believe we had bed- bugs all over our bed & the staff was utterly unprofessional. Instead of having a relaxed night we had a horror night. We had to change room thrice at 3 am. The manager refunded our money next day sounding like she did a favor to us. She admitted that the mattress cover was all over the place & that there were bugs in the room. The staff at night refused to come up in the room & see the live bugs crawling all over the bed. I have posted the pic of the bugs & have more videos to show.
Will strongly recommend against staying in this resort.

The room that I stayed in was considered a condo, but was actually a converted hotel room. Still, the room was nice and clean enough. The only difference between this room and a hotel was an added small two burner stove, even smaller sink and a small table. We ate breakfast in and lunch in the room, but it wouldn’t be suitable for someone who wanted to cook many meals in the room. It was nice that the room had towels and sheets, unlike typical condos. The Sand Dunes was also nice. We were there the first week of September, a great week to visit. The pool chairs and pool were always open. The resort has a small lazy river two kids pools, a regular pool, an indoor pool, hot tubs, and saunas. No complaints.

Upon checking in to a villa at Ocean Dunes, we were not pleased with our accomodations. The room we booked online indeed was not what we received. We walked next door to Sand Dunes and were fortunate to be greeted by the manager as she passed through the lobby. We explained our predicament and she was most gracious and helpful in finding accomodations for us there. We didn't even have to return to Ocean Dunes, she just transfered our information over. The room she offered us was absolutely wonderful. Having been in various seminars and classes concerning management, I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with how she effectively handled our situation, and turned a potentially negative experience into a positive one. Superior management by Sandra A. Great service and hospitality by Tina also. The room was excellent...the facility clean...much fun at the waterpark & lazy river...friendly staff...great breakfast buffet next door. All in all- great! The only negative was the fact that our neighbors were incredibly loud- and there's really not much you can do about that- except be loud and annoying yourself here and there just to let them know that "yes, you can hear what's going on next door." :)

This was the second time I stayed at Sand Dunes. The first time in 8/2011 the room was dirty and out dated. The second time in 8/2012, I thought I was in a 4 star resort. I found out that Sand Dunes only maintains some of the condos. The others are maintained by the owners, and that Sand Dunes has no control over there condition. If you stay there stay in the north tower. I stayed in room 808, which was right off the elevator. It was so nice.
We stayed for 5 nights in a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo, with a washer and dryer, 4 flat screen tv's, some with built in DVD players. This unit had a very large patio, with access from the living room and the master bedroom. There was a fireplace unit with flowers on top of it. This unit was so clean and updated as well as quite. The resort itself is very nice. The water park is great for kids and adults. It is small, but also fenced in so you can see your children where ever they are while you sit and relax. The beach is steps away. They offer free entertainment. We had lunch outside overlooking the beach, while enjoying Children's Karaoke. We had so much fun. Also the server we had was so fantastic. This resort has very well maintained outside areas. It is the condos that can have problems. Stay in the North Tower. They only have water views, instead of water front like the South Tower has, and they are all large units, and don't allow pets like the South Tower does. It may cost more, but it was worth it. I paid $1300.00 for 5 nights, with 7 people in the condo. When making a reservation, request room 808, or something in the North Tower. I hope this helped.

I wish I had seen some of these reviews before we went. As we discovered Sand Dunes Villas is the worst location. If it was not so hot I would have tried to sleep in my car as another reviewer suggested. I am not picky but the bad outweighs the good at this place. Second worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life. The hallway smelled like urine. There were roaches roaming around. Our two room suite was dirty. It had black mold in the bathroom. The walls were wet in there. Water was leaking from our ceiling from the upstairs bathroom. The kitchen was very small. The towels and sheets had holes in them. Our room was so bad! It ruined the 1st two days of our vacation. Because of the water leakage, we were moved to another room in the 1st tower near the beach. We had a ocean view in the 2nd room. There was no comparing the two rooms. The second room was much nicer and what I would have expected at a beach stay hotel. Be careful! May want to chose another location.

Room Tip: Stay in rooms with oceanfront view. Avoid Sand Dune Villas building.
