The park is amazing. It's quiet and family friendly. If you don't enjoy the the loud hussle and bussle of Myrtle Beach this is the place to be.
As you cross the marshes you will always see an alligator or five. As you sit on the beach you can frequently watch the dolphins jump. Huntington beach is also dog friendly year round. Only restriction is you must keep your dog on a leash.

This is a great quiet beach not far from tourist-y Myrtle Beach. You can camp at the park and there are plenty of grills and benches to cook out if you choose to do so.

My husband and I go to Huntington Beach State Park every September for birdwatching. This year, our tally included osprey, roseate spoonbills, great egrets, snowy egrets, ibis, great blue heron, tri-color heron, painted buntings, kingfishers and a couple of birds we are still trying to identify! We also saw a couple of alligators. Huntington Beach State Park is our number 1 "must do" anytime we are in the area & we highly recommend it!

We thought we were going to spend 2-3 nights, got there and only had space for 1 night. Campground is clean and shaded. Beach access is far, have to go though forest, dunes, brush, etc to get to beach... Choice of hookup or tent only... As we have a rooftop tent on our Jeep, we were forced to pay full hookup price of 37$... Saw a Copperhead snake as we entered the path to the beach, saw waht we think was a ribbon snake, non-venemous... Ranger told us he had report of a Copperhead the day before - I'm no snake expert! Watch out!!!

Family goes here at least 1/month year round. Always enough room to spread out even during th heart of summer. Nice little gift shop and proceeds go back into the SC State Parks. Recommend if a SC resident to get the annual park pass as it will pay for itself after the first few visits.
