Great beach, clean restrooms and foot showers near the beach to rinse off the sand. Well maintained park and helpful, friendly park rangers. A hidden treasure is Atalaya - well worth a visit, bring your camera.

The summer home of the Huntington's. Built in the early 1900's. A great piece of history. Simply amazing.

A true gem. The variety of wildlife is spectacular. The castle is a bit weird, in my opinion. But, this IS my opinion. Be sure to wander down the original driveway between the ponds. Lots of gator activity back there. A GPS will take you to the mail box, so go back toward Myrtle Beach 200 yards to hit the entrance. Lots of places to be alone, even if it is crowded. Take advantage of the education center and boardwalks into the marsh. Take lots of pictures, especially of the Segways.

I can't say enough about this gem. On our yearly trip to SC, we always go here! Love the wildlife, tidal marsh and the beach. Has a nice nature center and trails to hike. After a long hike, relax on the beach or take a leisurely stroll on the boardwalk that goes out onto the tidal marsh. We've seen all kinds of wildlife on the marsh, alligators, all kinds of birds, fidler crabs and even jellyfish when the tide comes in. So cool! There is also a park store and gift shop by the beach. Nice place to spend the whole day!

For a few dollars to enter, this is a fantastic day away from the Myrtle Beach crowds and commercialism. Enjoy all of the wildlife, including all kinds of birds, alligators in the wild, crabs, etc. Take a walk up the beach northward toward the jetty and take your pick of a secluded beach spot. It is so much different than the Myrtle Beach crowds. We walked the beach for a half-mile and maybe passed 6 other people. We walked all the way to the jetty and watched the fishing boats going in/out of Murrells Inlet. Unfortunately, we didn't visit the castle (maybe next year).
