Good quality food. These people really get food. Most places at the beach serve you cheap bar food and charge a lot. Not Russell's, they serve good quality food, good portions and good service.

We have been frequenting Murrells Inlet restaurants for years, but had never visited Russell's. It was recommended to us.....and we were not disappointed. All 5 of us had something different...and every dish was perfectly prepared. Service was excellent. Suggestion is to go early. Wonderful!

My wife and I have been eating in and around Murrells Inlet for over 15 years but we had never been to Russell's until tonight. I read about it in a local paper and checked out the ratings. My wife has had a favorite local restaurant and decided she wanted to go there tomorrow night since it would be our last night here and we would give Russell's a try. She had baked shrimp and scallops over mushrooms. It was cooked in a buttery garlic sauce and she loved it. I had grilled grouper and we agreed that both dishes were some of the best, if not the best, we have ever tasted. The place is beach rustic-casual. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating and Russell came by to check on the food and service. He spent several minutes visiting and was genuinely appreciative that we came in. As we were leaving my wife told him that we were coming back tomorrow night.

Russell's is the full package. We parked next to the tree in the middle of the parking lot and immediately found ourselves in a conversations over the crushed sea shells being used as a base for the parking lot. After snapping a few pics of our boy in front of the huge anchor at the tree we headed inside. We were sat immediately, and before we knew it our drinks and hush puppies were on the table. Our waitress notified us that we had made it on time for the early bird special which is what I had. Shrimp, deviled crab, with fried cheese potato balls and a salad. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. It was like grandmas cooking and she was cooking at the top of her game! The staff was very friendly always ensuring our drinks were full and we were taken care of. They even "played" with our little boy after the meal. We were so impressed with the other reviews that we drove from North Myrtle (about 30 min) just to try it, and it was well worth the ride. Whether you are a visitor to the area or a resident eating at Russell's should be added to your bucket list!

We saw that Russell’s was the number one rated restaurant in Murrells Inlet by Trip Advisor, so we ate there one evening in early May. We were lucky to get a table for two at the front corner window. I had a half dozen oysters on the half shell and my wife and I shared their seafood platter, which was enough for both of us. The oysters were fresh and delicious (should have had a dozen). The fried shrimp, scallops and oysters were battered and fried perfectly. The hush puppies were hot moist and had a slightly sweet taste to them, and the baked potato was perfect…hot, soft and fluffy. The fish, however, was very tasty but battered a little too heavy. The deviled crab was also tasty, but a little gummy, indicating too much breading, maybe? The price was right: $63 for two mixed drinks each, the oysters and the seafood platter and 20% tip. And the service was exceptional! An added extra; the owner was going to each table greeting customers and making sure the service and meal were satisfactory. If you go there, get the owner to tell the story of how the business got started. Quite interesting!
